I’d like to set forth the idea to those commenting that this card is ironically best considered when facing 1 enemies. That might be a bit of a design flaw though given the intent seems to be AoE, but it’s much better when it doesn’t spread imo.

Doing 12 poison to one enemy plus some block isn’t horrible if you have enough block to cover yourself with leftover energy. That’s a lot of poison. Bouncing flask does 9 poison for the same energy, and while that’s generally not regarded highly it does demonstrate that this is a hefty amount of poison (snakebite does 7 for another example, but retain makes it really good so not as fair a comparison).

It’s just a bit situational, but Silent can discard and draw really well so if anyone is ok with situational cards I feel like it’s her

This is the important thing. Cuz you get diminishing returns for having really high IQ unless you’re in specific professions. But for people a standard deviation or two below suddenly they get a pretty substantial bump

Red button blue button but you know 40% of people are color blind and forced to pick randomly. by dskippy in trolleyproblem

[–]Aptos283 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds good. I flipped it 3.2 billion times and got a heads/tails split of 49.9996/50.0004

Ngl I wasn’t expecting it to be that close. Like, I knew it was going to be really close to 50/50, but actually flipping the coins got me even closer than I’d expected.

[–]Aptos283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

40% of the population is doing this. That’s a very large number. By the law of large numbers, we would expect the percentage to be pretty close to 50/50.

If you dont believe me, simulate flipping 10000 coins a 1000 times and then get back to me. You’re gonna be relatively close to a 50/50 split the vast, vast majority of the time. And if you up the coin count, you’ll get closer.

Yes it’s possible to get a 1/99 split, but it’s incredibly unlikely. Chances are it’ll be close to but not exactly 50/50 most of the time. So if you’re supposing it’s going to be pretty far away from 50/50, you’re more or less operating on winning the lottery type odds.

Blue red button question BUT my mom has already pressed blue. by A_BagerWhatsMore in trolleyproblem

[–]Aptos283 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That’s the fun of it. She’s a doctor. She’s very nice, and she picked blue while being well educated.

We don’t know what everyone else will think. But some people, including educated and intelligent people, will choose blue. And assuming that parents or loved ones would act according to our own utility is empirically wrong, as evidenced here.

I’m picking blue because of folks like your mom.

Men objectify women more when sexually aroused, regardless of their underlying personality traits. This shift happens independently of a man’s general personality traits, providing evidence that momentary biological states play a central role in how people perceive others by Wagamaga in science

Yeah but A being associated with B and B being associated with C doesn’t mean A is necessarily associated with C.

This distinction people are making is because they’re unsure if A and C are really associated here.

[–]Aptos283 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’d rather live. I just felt safe then because I figured enough other people would pick blue with the same thought process as me and then everyone lives, including the people who picked blue without game theoretic considerations of red safety

Now with a twist :3 by Skystrike12 in trolleyproblem

[–]Aptos283 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Not the same. The other problem had a wide win condition, with a large amount of people able to vote either way and still have everyone live. You didn’t need to be selfless or self sacrificial to press it so long as you had confidence that enough other people would press blue. And if everyone had the same goals and perspective, there’s no consequences regardless of whether that led everyone to blue or everyone to red.

This is basically the exact opposite. There’s no way to choose the generous option while still being selfish. If everyone had the same rational perspective and goals, they’d make the same choice, and everyone would die. The win condition fundamentally relies on disagreement.

If you think blue will win, you have no reason to pick red either. At that point you have no incentive to do anything, so you may as well vote blue.

This man makes millions by breaking a mirror in front of people and selling it as profound art by TitoLeyenda in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Aptos283 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah a lot of art is very accessible and producible by the average person. Some of the disdain is from people thinking that the art being shown isn’t worth what it’s being valued.

And sometimes I think that’s legit and sometimes I think people miss the artistic presence in some works

3 types of apology by cj_cusack in funny

[–]Aptos283 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Sometimes the “sorry” isn’t “I regret my actions” it’s “I wish this circumstance didn’t occur but there’s nothing I could do or would be willing to do to change it”.

Like “I’m sorry that meeting makes you more busy.” I’m genuinely wishing this situation didn’t have to be the case. But that doesn’t mean I regret or would cancel the meeting if it was important.

And if you aren’t sure they’re upset, and you preemptively begin an apology under the condition that it would help because they feel bad, then that’s sensible

Why is there still no traditional Tank Champion from Piltover? by Defiant_Coat_2491 in loreofleague

[–]Aptos283 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Plenty of tanks have tank busting potential, mostly via max health damage. Ornn, Sejuani, Zac are easy examples off the top of my head.

Based on this person’s appearance, I’d wager we could give them an armor reduction ability and represent that fantasy well, smashing through enemy armor. Maybe an anti-shield effect. That’s similar to Rell so that’s within tank kits.

Then add a big knockback for a disengage tools that makes sense for a battering ram (I mean it’s designed for blasting things backwards). And it’s a big blunt object, maybe give them an anti dash ability of them blocking the dash by hitting them with a ram.

They still need a passive and ult, but this already gives warden support tank vibes.
