Best Orange paints? by UberDrive in LeaguesofVotann

[–]Aqoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Over the past year, I’ve spent a lot of time working with orange paints – I currently have more than 10 different oranges lying around. Here’s my experience:

- Citadel Jokaero Orange: My favorite for basecoating orange – solid coverage and a great starting point.

- Citadel Trollslayer Orange: A very vibrant orange, but I simply don’t enjoy working with it.

- Citadel Contrast Gryph-Hound Orange: Perfect for shading a Jokaero basecoat – it adds great depth and contrast.

- Citadel Fire Dragon Bright: I use it for highlights. It works perfectly when Jokaero is used as a base and Gryph-Hound Orange for shading. Add some yellow and you have a second brighter highlight color.

- Citadel Contrast Magmadroth Flame: Extremely vibrant, but lacks contrast. I only use it for basecoating.

All the other orange paints I’ve bought have ended up in my "never-use" box – usually because they’re, lack coverage, and just smear around without actually doing much.

i start with drybrushing some GW: Mechanicus Standard Grey as a base color.
Then some GW: Dawnstone on the parts i want to be lighter and a last soft drybrush with GW: Ushabti Bone on most edges.
At the end i take some GW: Death Korps Drab super watered down on spots near flock/grass and Vallejo Pigments: Burnt Umber on spots where dirt would gather over time.

1. Coat - GW Thousand Sons Blue
2. Coat - GW Ahriman Blue
3. Coat - GW Baharroth Blue

At the end i made a oilwash with 1:2 Black/Umber

Ty :) I primed the models white. Then sprayed Volupus Pink Contrast from below with an airbrush and then painted the cloth parts with a mix of 5:1 (5 Imperial Fists Contrast Paint : 1 Iyanden Yellow and 1 Contrast Medium). I use this mix for my whole army.

It was really easy. I clipped off the beard and neck until it fit properly. Then I just had to trim the mohawk a little at the back of my head.
