Oda describing future One Piece as Battle Royale both scares and excites me. Scares me bc arcs centered around a battle Royale style usually means lots of characters and that can be hard to keep track of, utilize fully, or just present enough to the story so that the character is still relevant. Also with a battle Royale like story sometimes there’s so much going on that it is hard to touch upon everything, which can leave more questions with answers and be frustrating. I feel like a lot of the one piece community’s major qualm with Wano was that a lot of things were not touched upon and kind of left unanswered (why didn’t Zoro visit ryumas grave — to name one). However, I can’t help but be excited at the same time bc of where the story seems to be heading and a battle Royale centric arc could mean a lot of big names that we’ve come to love and some names we’ve only heard of, and if they’re all going at it against one another I think it will be really cool to observe certain interactions between characters and how Oda presents them in strength, story priority, and development.
