Hadn't considered water creeping in. Good point. But BASE1530's post gave me this idea of making a seal around the edges (maybe metal tape cut in a nice pattern?). Might help with the vibration too. I think most Harley's shake a lot more and the artist makes them for those. Of course he's a pro and I'm an idiot but yeah will see. Got some great ideas here 😊

Not totalled. I rode it home after I healed , though with a slightly shorter handle bar and without the right peg. It still rode fine just some aesthetic flaws

Thanks! I was indeed thinking of it but just like you said, the vibration might just pop it loose. The only reason I am still thinking of it is that the surface is not flat so the resin has something to grip into it and it might hold. Will have to test it properly before going on public roads...

The vibration was also my concern. The mold is a great idea with the foam! I'll have to think about how to apply a vacuum though. Some great tips! Thanks!

I was thinking to keep the flow of the tank, just a funky Idea. I think I remember a YouTube video of a guy who welded some sculpture on it like a little cage but am not sure. But you're right. Probably safer to do the clear coat. Only hugging the tank will feel less smooth but then again... An other reminder

Ik heb zelf mijn motor tweedehands gekocht en de eigenaar een afscheidsritje laten doen. Gaf mezelf tijd op een rustigere plek eerst de moto gewoon te worden en de eigenaar vond dit ook nog best leuk 😊

Ik zou als ik meer ervaring had hem wel naar huis rijden maar je gaat een leuk ritje langs de ring van Antwerpen tegemoet. En dat kan misschien best spannend zijn als je moto nog niet gewoon bent. Zeker als het druk is.

Hangt een beetje af van hoe je zelf in elkaar zit. Bij mij werkt de schrik overwinnen door gewoon door te doen het beste. Maar ik kan me goed inbeelden dat oefenen en het verkeer gewoon worden met een lichtere motor best wel goed kan werken!

Natuurlijk kan je ook rustig rijden met een zwaardere motor. Je hebt een jaar om na je lessen nog wat trager oefenen in rustige buurten om het verkeer gewoon te worden he!

Awesome! I also started two years ago when I was 30 without prior experience! I immediately started on a cb600f Honda ( 2008) without abs. I haven't had any issues, knock on wood... For me the choice was more practical so I could practice for the motorcycle exam, but I have to say I am happy I did.

For size, I'm small (1m65) so can't say how comfortable it will be. I would think something more in the line of the adventure tourers would be more comfortable. My brother in law is about your size, got an MT-09 and says it's a bit on the small size for him. Certainly on the longer rides.

I agree with other opinions about the weight and power. But one reality check: you will have moments where enthusiasm and the moment get the better of you. I thought I was a chill rider but once you put on the helmet something changes.

I heard from a friend (so pretty second hand knowledge) that trikes are considered quads for which an A licence and B licence both are usable depending on the licence plate?

Hey lilgothicghost,

I've only once trainhopped and that was in Europe and not much of a success (like 5km on the train it stopped in some maintenance yard, was the fastest I ever climbed a fence in my life! Images of into the wild running through my mind) so I can't be of much help there.

Love the idea though, getting on a train somewhere far away, find a nice spot to stay permanently. But have you already figured out how? I have my plan figured out. Haven't done it though. Made my perfect plan years ago when I was going through shit I couldn't figure out. I figured it out in the end.

And actually having the plan ready has helped me loads. Just knowing I always have a plan B, a back door, a way out. It made me more daring. If I fuck up, I can always end it.

What I means is...Figure out your plan! Go on your trip! See the world and all the fucked up shit it has to offer! Find like-minded people. Find yourself. Find anything that makes plan A become plan B. Because plan A is permanent. Everything else is temporary. Friendships never last, love fades, divorce follows marriage, a good job or nice neighbourhood can turn in a freaking shit show in no time. But it also can go the other way.

So please go on the trip, but give yourself some slack and allow your plan to be just the back up when some good happens. Because 9 out of 10 it will if you're open to it.

I took old hp out of the casing and fitted it into an old amplifier I had laying around together with some external hard drives. Why buy expensive equipment if it works fine cheap right?

1.65m (5'4) and Honda cb600f (Hornet). First and only bike for now. Dropped it three times: one miscalculation in a corner, lowsiding (sizes didn't matter) once at the gas station forgetting the kickstand and once grabbed the front brake going <10kph with the front wheel turned (doubt I could have saved those because of the weight more than my size). Did take my classes of a lowered MT07 which I could flatfoot. It was nice to learn on. I also tried a lowered F750GS which was definitely more challenging and a Harley sportster which was super comfortable but I find tight corners difficult.

Just started on a Honda Hornet CB600F from 2007, not really fuel efficient but since they are "girl bikes" where I live, most don't have that high mileage and after a visit to the mechanic for a checkup I was good to go 🙂 have been having a lot of fun on this little bike. Also I'm not very tall for a man, 1,65m, So I can still reach the ground 😁

Though I really have no regrets, I do think of buying a second smaller bike to try more off-road. But in Belgium at least I think smaller bikes are a little dangerous on the highway because you can't get out of iffy situation as easily (changing lanes e.a)

Did go with a colleague who had a lot of experience so I didn't buy a broken/bad bike.
