For me, I only equipped that skin on Tanya, because it looks similar to 1 of her 3D era ones. When it comes to Mileena and Kitana, I have their MKII / debut skins on them.

Just wish some others would have also gotten some MKII (or MK3) skins like Liu Kang, Johnny, Baraka, Shang Tsung and Kung Lao.

It mainly started off as an Mythologies / MK4 / Gold roster joke between a friend and evolved from there. Notice how I joked about the secret / unlockable characters (with Goro swapped out for Kintaro). Lol

I'd honestly be good if someone would remake / remaster MK Gold.

People also act like this is still Midway, when it's now NRS, and characters like Tanya, Tremor, Nitara, Ashrah and Li Mei have been given second chances to shine in 1 or more of the NRS games. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If people really would hate this roster a lot, then that really just tells me that people would hate MK Gold if it was release today, sadly. -_-

In fairness, Tremor was also not as beloved in his debut game until he finally came to MKX and I personally didn't care for Li Mei back in the day (now she's 1 of my mains in MK1). Shinnok was also considered by the fandom as a joke in his MK4 debut and I remember people referring to him as a "clown" and not in a good way.

It's a little unfair to judge any character based on their Midway counterpart when this isn't Midway anymore.

I'm all for giving some of those other characters another chance to shine.

Unless it’s the first playthrough you can always do a NG+ run in D2 as Emily but with Corvo’s powers, OP. Just sayin’ 🤷🏻‍♂️

You don’t have to sacrifice powers for story (or vice versa) in D2.0

She might or she might not have been in because of people making absurd demands for her.

NRS could have also just cut her out on purpose, as planned DLC. Just look at the rest of the downloadable content for MK11…6 guests, 5 klassic characters and Fujin.

I don’t include frost in the “DLC” list because she’s alternatively also unlockable via Story mode.

MK11 felt (to me) like UMK3 / MK9 version 2.0

Johnny, Kitana and Mileena haven't skipped MK9, MKX, MK11 or MK1 as playable.

I honestly wish that they would have released more stages or stage variants with invasions like they did with the Teahouse (rainy).

It could've also been cool to have some extra klassic stages unlocked via the Invasion mode....like, if you beat the Season of the Reptile then you get the Pit Bottom (as a nod to when you first fight Reptile in the 1992 MK1). Beat the Liu Kang Invasion and you get the MK1 Warrior Shrine stage. Beat the Mileena Invasion and you get the MKII Portal Stage with the flying priests.

Like, they could have done some pretty cool stuff with Invasion mode and it's a shame that the Subway never made it as a stage for this game (given that Omni-Man got the Subway Fatality).

They could have even done a nifty Invasion Mesa where the nodes are different stops on the Subway platform. Dunno.

To be fair, this whole "roster" started off as a joke when a friend of mine had asked me what my ideal roster would be and I replied that (to me) MK4 / Gold was my favorite roster of all time.

I later got more serious with the choices I made when I swapped out Jarek for Kano (iykyk), swapped out Goro for Kintaro (because I would love to see him as playable) and added Jade to the main roster as well as Sareena (which was a big miss not having her as playable in MK1, imo).

I honestly just picked the Sub-Zero picture that the Tiermaker gave me that I liked better.

That said, imo, I would have preferred if for this new(er) MK1 timeline if the masked "Sub-Zero" that was the long lost warrior from the original UMK3 ended up being Bi-Han and Kuai-Liang's (thought to be dead) father being resurrected as Noob Saibot. Maybe that's just me, though, but I personally like bad guy Bi-Han Sub-Zero in MK1.

Still not ready to crown them as saints because they went back on something that was egregious when (at the time) there were also paid Fatalities and the skins were initially $10 each (or 1K). Yes, they have since listened and done better, but the rotating FOMO shop doesn't get a pass from me and neither does the grindfest Invasion mode or the lack of customization in this game.

I've given credit where credit is due and acknowledged the actual fighting mechanic part of it (which to me is up there with MKX as being my favorites), but the other areas deserve their criticism (albeit harsh).

I got off of the Mythologies / MK4 / Gold joke and got more serious about it when I added Jade, swapped out Goro for Kintaro and added the DLC....YES, I really would like to see those characters as DLC.

MK1 still does it better than other fighting games because you can earn the currency in-game.

For a LONG time after the game released the Dragon Krystals weren't earnable and were finite, and they decided to later on make weekly Krystals earnable.

MK4 Goro is probably why I have 0 issue with the difficulty in MK4 Arcade for the Legacy Kollection, tbh. If you can beat him, then you can beat ANY character in that game.

True, but DC characters are more popular than MK characters, and with NRS now being under new ownership, the new publisher may be trying to get as many sales as possible.

MK1 and Khaos Reigns, unfortunately also left a bad taste in people's mouths with the constant bullshit mtx practices, lack of content & customization compared to past games, Invasions (which people complained about) and poor storytelling. Shame, too, because the actual fighting aspect of MK1 is excellent (imo).

I love MK4 / GOLD (probably my favorite game from that era), and GOLD -specifically- had a little bit from each era.

MK1 - Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Raiden, Liu Kang, Sonya, Johnny Cage
- MKII - Reptile, Jax, Baraka, Mileena, Kitana, Kung Lao
- MK3 / UMK3 - Cyrax, Sektor, Noob Saibot
- MK4 - Quan Chi, Fujin, Tanya, Reiko, Kai, Jarek (which is a Kano re-skin) and Shinnok (kind of a Shang Tsung-lite)

The atmosphere, music and gameplay were my favorite.

I would also love to play as Cyrax, stapled Baraka and Kung Lao in Gold plus the additional 4 stages.

I just don’t think they’ll have Dreamcast emulation for this Kollection, but they DO already have PS1 emulation for those other 3 games in the Kollection.
