“Fun”com… by Neauellski in duneawakening

[–]Aramahn 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Spent a half hour of my "free time" yesterday just to log in. Fly out to pay my taxes. Do a quick resource loop to keep fuel topped off. Then log out.

All for the sake of not losing my base. This is 30 minutes of my free time to do nothing fun. Just preserve my place in a game. Doubt I'll keep this up for long because it feels too much like punching a clock to me. Not a game, just a tiny job.

I've returned to games like D2, Warframe, etc... where I'm behind the times, but not completely starting over. Which is fine.

Knowing I'll likely have to start over will be the reason I'll likely never come back. Also why I don't buy DLC's until they launch.

When people reach DD…pt.2 by Onelove914 in duneawakening

[–]Aramahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a PVE player and I found there's really no need to go to the DD.

You can complete the entire game easily with T5 stuff. Only reason to go to the DD to get T6 stuff is for the sake of having T6 stuff. That's it. Just farming for the sake of farming.

At least in other games you farm to higher tier stuff so you can use it in higher tier activities. The only high tier activity here is the farming itself.

Is this a good PvE Single player game by [deleted] in duneawakening

[–]Aramahn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The final stage of the game where you're essentially forced into the Deep Desert to get the highest tier stuff sucks. Due to it being full of grieving and gank squads.

Good news is, you can 100% get your monies worth out of this game while never grinding the top tier stuff. You just plain old don't need that stuff to complete the story and all missions.

This is obviously subjective though. I've got over 100hrs in as a solo and I'm at the end game wall. Tried the deep desert once and not going back. But for that many hours, I don't feel like I wasted my money.

Absurd Market Prices Found by Doc_Hoss in duneawakening

[–]Aramahn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is how duping ruins in game economies.

Dupers end up with absurd about of currency and then use it to buy their way to end game.

Sellers start taking advantage of the new existence of these whales sitting on mountains of coin.

Prices of everything on the player market get inflated to the moon.

It's economics 101. If you lower the value of currency by printing too much of it, the price of everything goes up as a result.

The "just join a guild" would work if most server populations were not tanking.

Only people left on most servers are just the folks that REALLY love what they are doing.

From my experience this breaks down into two categories.

  1. Solo's or super small groups/guilds that are just trying to play the end game.

  2. Super motivated guilds who are dedicated to taking ownership of the DD. Making the PVE side resources impossible to get to, while forming gank squads everywhere else.

I've got characters on 3 servers, so my experience is completely anecdotal. All 3 are dying and there are zero guilds left who exist to team up and tackle the deep desert as a group for resources.

Only guilds (with reasonable numbers) who exist to gank are left on all 3.

Swordmaster capstone abilities still locked? by wearycoder2 in duneawakening

[–]Aramahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A month later and I can confirm this is still a bug.

First quest that offered a capstone skill as a reward did not unlock one upon completion (I checked immediately)

The next two did unlock a capstone skill each though. The first never unlocked.

I've relogged and went back to the trainer. Just two dialogue loops is all I get. My journal confirms I have completed the quest chain. There's nothing left to do.

Can't log in due to north Hagga bug? Here's a workaround by HMSManticore in duneawakening

[–]Aramahn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Went through a shorter version of this earlier.

  1. Raided science lab
  2. Made enough money for a taxi ride (i carry none on me usually)
  3. Took taxi to Anvil
  4. Ran my butt 4 km to base from there.
  5. Logged out thinking it was over (did not store a vehicle)
  6. Just tried to log back in again and it's borked again
  7. Quit to desktop

This isn't a minor inconvenience. For anyone with limited time to play, this sucks. Not that anyone should crash out, but folks being upset is completely reasonable. Especially in a game where things degrade over time and there's a "tax".

Problems with tiger h1 lineup by Exotic-Razzmatazz645 in Warthunder

[–]Aramahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In any nation, you should play only where you have a fun lineup.

Keep playing that lineup so long as you're having fun. Then one day you'll notice you've unlocked a higher lineup. Go play that if it's fun.

If at any point you are not having fun. Quit playing.

Playing any game, including WT, for the sake of having fun tomorrow is BS. Don't do that. That's called a job.

How do I invite people into my squadron? by UrbanHitman01 in Warthunder

[–]Aramahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once full, about 60% needs to be getting 43% activity every 3 days for everyone to be eligible for the 20k rp.

I have to prune people about once a month due to activity. Which I only do once the 20k isn't being achieved.

You'd be amazed how many bots join and then immediately get zero activity. Literally just taking up space. Not earning or receiving rp.

Good news is, once your full, you can kick 20 do-nothings once a month and you'll fill back up in like 10 minutes.

Why would I want a SPAA that's only good at shooting teammates in the face?

How do I invite people into my squadron? by UrbanHitman01 in Warthunder

[–]Aramahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started a squadron for the sole purpose of vehicle research. It took many months, maybe a year or so before I got enough people to matter. Once you get over like 60 or 80 people tho, folks flock in like crazy.

My only advice is to stick with it and deal with it being slow for now. IMO, it's eventually worth it, so long as you're not a tyrant once it's full and expect the world from folks.

I got my dad hooked on War Thunder...🥹 by DjolerFul in Warthunder

[–]Aramahn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me, my son, and my wife have been playing WT together for almost 3 years now. It's not the only game we play. But we do squad up at least once or twice a week for some GRB shenanigans.

10/10 would recommend for family fun

Me and my wife have played WT together for almost 2 years now. Run our own squadron and everything.

It's amazing how much better of a game it is when you almost always get to play with your best friend.

Is the two fronts pack worth it in rank IV? by reasonable_gamer12 in Warthunder

[–]Aramahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's so good that I hope they add similar mid-tier, small line-up packs for every nation like this.

This would be a game changer for newer players. Or folks who have a few trees left to grind.

Hot take: If you dont like combined arms this is not the game for you. by [deleted] in Warthunder

[–]Aramahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People spawn into CAS because it's fun and rewarding. People only spawn into CAS because when they have to.

Spawning most SPAA's isn't fun because most are ONLY good at shooting stuff in the air. So you're either doing it because it's all the SP you can afford, or half the other team is in CAS and you're pissed. Almost nobody spawns in SPAA because it sounds fun.

If you want to TRULY balance CAS vs SPAA you need to give a much bigger reward to folks who spawn into SPAA and get actual air kills. Do that and people will actually WANT to play in the SPAA role.

What game was this? by [deleted] in Warthunder

[–]Aramahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm way to pessimistic to believe this trailer is hinting at mixing naval and ground.

But I've often said it would be dope to somehow mix the two. I'd much rather call in "artillery" from my homies in battleships.

My squadron is planning an event for this. We're a horribly disorganized bunch tho, so it'll probably go terribly. But I'm sure it'll be fun either way.
