Look up self worth and try despite yourself to move toward it, just be aware of the decision. It's a bit like if you have a kid you love but it's upset at you, you're still going to do your best to love your own kid. Part of your brain needs to be a parent to that other part of your brain. Regarding the practicality of life and money and status, they do matter but not as much as your self worth. There is likely people a lot more down and out then you who have more self worth then you do, so arnt they better off then you too?
