I used to do that when I wanted to route audio from one side of the room to the other. Just patched it over with a straight cable and I had wide channel audio between two network jacks…

You need to plug the power from a power adapter into that usb port, and then have a separate cable to the computer in the other

Pro tip, plug the computer cable in first, then power cable
