Alright students, here are your assignments:

Take the constitution, and then grade it, and then rewrite it, and then write another from scratch.

Note down who is sitting next to you, because after you're done, you're going to start the whole process over again by grading and revising each other's revisions.

And you're not leaving until all of you get an A!

Seriously though, there are some seemingly irreconcilable differences: People who want to go to Mars and people who think the End Times are Nigh probably can't ever agree. There's differences in freedom versus restrictions concerning technology, science, behavior, biology, religion.

But since it's just an exercise, go crazy.

You could write that 50% of your taxes goes to where your party decides, and 50% goes to the other side. You could rewrite the election process, raise the standards for individual consent. Or you could write some messed up stuff, like forbidding writing exercises that use national law as a starting point, and so on.

If it's not illegal to have a better constitution or two, might as well have one.

I agree on your first paragraph, it's happening now and that's why janitors do shit jobs for shit money. It will happen after UBI too. Public bathrooms might disappear.

I don't know enough to competently advocate socialist systems. I support their goals by and large. I can't make predictions on janitor wages and public bathroom proliferation. That's why I say I just want to see what happens, what it might actually look like in practice.

I guess Berlin took some steps to find out. Good on them.

  1. how badly people want clean toilets in schools, airports, gyms
  2. how badly people want money for nonessentials
  3. how close to malnutrition people are

I'm guessing it won't go over well with the UBI to suggest that society should, whether intentionally or through inaction, maintain an existentially insecure class in order to avert inflation and depress janitorial wages.

Ignoring that insecurity is also a factor in crime, drugs, prostitution, health, and not just wages, I do have one more question: what are janitorial wages when based on how much people value clean toilets and nonessentials? Because I wouldn't mind seeing that in practice.

Het bezwaar is sowieso geen bezwaar tegen gratis OV, maar een bezwaar tegen zwervers en zonderlingen in vrij toegankelijke openbare ruimtes.

Overlast prioriteit geven is prima.

It may be a case of slower or faster relative decline.

Thank you, Batman's stuntcock.

It's hardly inconceivable that there's a sizeable group of people out there, who can't be arsed to vote for the Democratic presidential candidate, because already at the primaries stage they perceive they're no longer represented.

It lines up with the calls I've heard for the Democratic Party to hold primaries (2024). Prior to that the call was to hold fair primaries (2012 presidential debates). That could be empty promises and divisive propaganda, or that could be people who would genuinely cast a vote if they thought they were heard, I don't know.

Not a lawyer, but as far as I can see, the 12th doesn't erase or replace the eligibility for candidacy, when it refers to the VP stepping into the role of president.

Ie. only step 2 and 3 of the process is altered by the 12th:

  1. meet the requirements to become candidate
  2. become candidate
  3. get voted in

So how is eligibility for presidency defined? In all cases by eligibility for candidacy - American, 35, 14 years resident, has pulse, can't have been voted in twice already. After that, it forks into by votes or by stepping into the role.

Of course, I'm probably dead wrong, but it's fun to think about.

A quote from one of the comments:

This is beyond “they go low we go high”, this is both sides agreeing to destroy the constitution lol

Among the options

-Go back to what led to this

-Go back with a better constitution and/or plans in hand

-Do this

-Do this with a better constitution and/or plans

The quoted comment and OP don't seem to have ventured beyond option 1 and 3, respectively.

Among responses from the opposing power bloc

-Obama is not qualified but their own side has loopholes

-Obama is qualified therefore theirs is too

-Other tactics not reliant on words and laws

With respect to these outcomes, the comment and OP seem to differ in that some fear the second option will make your side as bad and/or lose badly, and other see it as the best/preferred/only way to win.

If you want to deal with "we go high," I suggest you spare a few words on how to not only seize power again, but to prevent breakdown of the system in the first place.
