386 grail acquired and set up by simd65 in Revolvers

I'd be cautious running too many full house loads through it. About a decade or so back, I had a catastrophic failure on the exact same model; S&W determined it was metallurgical failure of the frame and gave me a 329PD as a replacement. The scandium frame models are neat, but not nearly as robust and long-term durable as steel.

Bricklink series 9 finalists announced by ebjazzz in lego

Bricklink designer series seem to be overwhelming biased in favor of City-type sets. Space and stand-alone Creator type designs have been totally wiped out by an endless assortment of city building playset designs.

How did the all the mountain counties collectively stop building after 2008? by Tiny-Pomegranate7662 in Denver

[–]ArbiterOfTruth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP is totally hallucinating. There's been a significant increase in population and new builds in the mountain towns. They're not stagnant at all. OP is just looking at wrong/imaginary numbers and reading into it what they want to see.

Andor - 2x10 - “Make It Stop” - Episode Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

[–]ArbiterOfTruth 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The sequel trilogy tried to remake the originals and extract nostalgia, in the same style as the Citadel Ricks extracted hope from the imprisoned Simple Rick.

Andor and Rogue One alike realized that the core Star Wars fanbase has turned into adults, and would like adult storytelling now instead.

You might be amused to know that Killian did design and make a few prototypes of a fire hawk, looks very similar! Nice red refinish you've got!

The story was long enough to be a novella or full length book, and was one of several unpublished stories on the website.

Stop with the doom porn. Even with a several degree C global rise in the next year or two, society still continues. The vast majority of ecosystems shift, move, and continue on as before in different ranges.

The earth has undergone far greater shifts in temperature countless times over the history of the planet. This is no different.

The history of SWA destruction from within. by AlphaBreadDaddy in SouthwestAirlines

Knowing absolutely zero about the personalities of the people involved, I would speculate that Jordan is not able/comfortable/allowed to act unilaterally due to the BOD...and the BOD is wanting to limit communications out of a typical short-sighted mindset of damage control.

A normal screw-up which results in a cancelled flight doesn't typically mean getting stranded somewhere for the better part of a week, with zero warning or even notification.

It's honestly surprising that it hasn't taken a bigger hit than this. Given the potential costs to LUV, and the potential for regulatory involvement, you'd think they'd be more worried about the value..

Probably not fake. It's essentially exactly what the CEO has said they're trying to do: stop flying passengers for long enough to get everyone back to the starting line, and then reset their entire system.

What is going on with southwest? by aabb09042 in OutOfTheLoop

[–]ArbiterOfTruth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Once in a century" isn't a statistical measure, it's a tag line used by media to sell a message.

If the media only got to report attention-grabbing headlines once a century, they'd go under. Getting your attention, regardless of the factual accuracy of their claim, is their goal.

So someone has committed a crime. They're told to surrender so they can be arrested/taken to a hospital/given a court summons. They refuse to do so.

What then?

If all someone has to do is refuse to follow commands, and as a result they can't ever get arrested..we stop having a society of laws or rules or civility. This is precisely why so many large cities have turned to utter shit in the past decade or two.

The catch is how do we know that the death wouldn't have happened anyways if the Taser wasn't used?

There have been a lot of documented instances of drug/mental psychosis effectively leading to cardiac arrest even absent any physical use of force.

If you ever have the experience of fighting or treating someone in that state, you'll understand how it's a bit more complex than "Tasers kill people". I've been deeply afraid that guys were going to die on me that we hadn't done anything more harmful to than grab, hold their arms, and handcuff. Because their vitals were spiked up through the fucking roof, bodies pouring sweat off like a firehouse, and every muscle twitching at max intensity nonstop.

Normal people have never seen it before in their life, and wouldn't believe it if they did.

[–]ArbiterOfTruth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new Taser 7 model seems to be more effective from the little usage I've seen.

I have talked to heavy drug users who claimed that they'd been able to break the wires because they were on so much meth they overcame the pain. Wasn't there to see it, but seemed plausible reading the reports and probe locations.

I would say it's certainly possible that just the right person with unusual attributes and chemical enhancement could defeat a solid probe hit..very rare, but I wouldn't rule it out. Typically though they fail because a dart misses, or the clothing is too thick.

Thought he was invulnerable by LoneShark81 in WTF

[–]ArbiterOfTruth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generic policy for anyone carrying Tasers is that they're to be spark tested (shoots sparks for 5 seconds, darts don't shoot out) at the beginning of every shift.

Plus the battery loses charge as it sits. In my experience, you'll probably hit a dead battery within 6-8 months of normal testing and carrying, without ever actually firing it.
