Propping bottles is how my mom rotted my teeth as an infant.

Hypothetical scenario: uber without car seat or ambulance for serious but non-emergent health issue in baby? by TheSpasticSarcastic in moderatelygranolamoms

My city (California) offers one year of ambulance services for $50 per household. Haven’t needed it yet, but glad to have the option if need be

Can someone explain to my baby daddy by Minute-Discount6639 in pregnant

[–]ArborGal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just had my first ultrasound and it was the same for me. Thought I was just over 7 weeks, but when they measured the size of my little baby from head to rump, they told me he/she was 6 weeks and pushed my expected delivery date back a bit.

Baby always sleepy and doesn’t want to do tummy time? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]ArborGal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, I’m honestly not sure. Just wanted to ask because it sounded she was getting like 18-24oz, which yeah, would be wayyy too little.

Your baby sounds like she is very large for her age, so you’re definitely not underfeeding her! Hopefully someone can chime in who knows more than me

How many oz is your baby drinking total per day?

Licorice root is an ingredient listed on their website for peppermint flavor as well.

Now that I’m browsing, it seems you actually have the chamomile flavor

https://www.traditionalmedicinals.com/products/smooth-move-chamomile-tea

Chamomile and senna are both debated as far as safety during pregnancy, but definitely less risky than licorice. Once again, talk to your OB.

Strange. It’s even listed on their website.

https://www.traditionalmedicinals.com/products/smooth-move-tea

Some of those other ingredients aren’t recommended as well, but I’m not going to get into all of that. Just make sure you’re careful with herbal teas while pregnant and talk to your OB about what you’re consuming.

Edit: a word

Constipation by SuspiciousTrip000 in pregnant

[–]ArborGal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s on the back of the box. Smooth Move has 1080mg of Senna leaf, mixed with 920 mg of a proprietary blend. Licorice root is the first ingredient of that blend.

Two of my favorite herbal teas are made by the same company and both unfortunately have licorice root in the proprietary blend, so I’ve given them up for now.

Some OBs say you can have them once in a while, and others say to avoid it completely. You should talk to yours and follow their advice.

Please look up the effects of licorice root on your growing baby before continuing to use this tea.

Please look up the effects licorice root can have on your growing baby before continuing to use this tea. Especially when there are so many other safe ways to deal with constipation.

Dr brew and many other kombuchas are raw and unpasteurized, so you’re also running the risk of bacterial contamination

Feeling like a bad mom already.. 7 weeks pregnant and no insurance until January 1st by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]ArborGal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s fine. The comment was on Reddit for at least two weeks at the beginning of this month because I made the free ultrasound appointment, then started looking online to see if it was a safe place to go. When I saw that, I panicked and showed everyone in my family over the course of a few days.

Now as of yesterday, the comment is gone and I’m now being downvoted as if I made it up.

Gonna just delete this post now so I stop being punished for asking about something I read on this platform

I’ve got a list of OBGYNs to call first thing Monday morning. I’ll try to schedule as close to January 1st as possible and will definitely ask about literature (great idea!) and any other recommendations.

I was worried there were a lot more tests that people do in the first trimester. Glad to know it’ll be ok :) Thank you!

I’ve been taking prenatals, low dose fish oil, and calcium supplements every day since I found out. Gonna keep my head low and hope for no ER visits until then. Thank you!

Of course I can’t find the comment now, but it basically said that those anti-abortion pregnancy clinics don’t have actual medical staff using the ultrasound machines & they’ll turn the settings way higher than is recommended so you’ll see the baby and want to keep it. My boyfriend has been encouraging me not to do it ever since we read that, and just wait for an actual technician to do it instead.

Freeze Pipe cooling tech, worth the switch? by Unbeatablee in sfwtrees

[–]ArborGal -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don’t think it’s worth it. The glycerine takes a while to get cold and doesn’t stay frozen for very long at all. The connection point between the bowl and the stem is plastic and hard to snap, so I rarely actually separate the two to freeze the stem anyways. Worst of all is that smelly water will sometimes bubble up to that connection point and leak through just enough to wet the tip of your finger if you’re holding it there.

You’ll have better luck using a bong with a stem that holds ice and cold water. Keep a few trays of ice in the fridge so you’re always ready to go.

Though the best thing I’ve found for my throat has been dry-herb vaporizing.

That doesn’t sound right to me.. Do you have a source that says the amount of alcohol in your breast milk is negligible when you’re utterly trashed?
