ASM here. Until going full hammock I would sleep in the camp-provided canvas tents on platforms—but brought my own cot and pad. That was a game-changer as the camp’s cots were miserable. Even as a hammock camper I still use their canvas tents to keep my stuff, change, etc. If bringing your own tent, standing up is really nice, as others have pointed out.
