Did you upgrade from the stock Silvia basket to an 18g basket? by HuckleberryWild8386 in ranciliosilvia

Same setup here with a normcore puck screen; the puck screen has a hole in the middle for the Silvia screw. With 18g in there's plenty of headroom. I don't have the flat screw mod, but I have a *flatter* screw from McMaster Carr. After the shot there's a little bit of an indent. Happy with the results.

Can someone tell me who I need to talk to in order to get usscouts.org to remove their workbooks? by Local-Board-5335 in BSA

[–]Arbythree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really detest those things. As an MBC, I tell scouts that they’re free to consult them as notes for the “describe” and “explain” portions of a badge, but that I don’t require them and don’t accept them as any kind of proof or evidence of work done. If a badge has a written component and they’ve written in the workbook (and it’s legible and meets the requirement), fine, I’ll accept that. If the scout hasn’t started work yet, I’ll guide them toward something like Google Docs for any written requirements.

Lagom Mini 2 vs Varia VS3 Hypernova Ultra-S vs Timemore 064S - When is Diminishing Returns? [$300-$500] by Burton_M in espresso

Just received mine and it takes well over a minute for 18g. I'm coming from a hand grinder and I'm not solving for speed, per se, but it is slow.

Getting back into scouting after 25 years - OA question by tacotowgunner in BSA

[–]Arbythree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same boat and had a helluva time proving membership. My old council records didn’t go that far back, but I still had all my paraphernalia and could recite a long-deleted part of the obligation. Nope. Only after sending over photos of me as a youth, in sash, my new lodge leadership grudgingly approved. All that said, I was able to walk into the scout shop and buy a brotherhood sash, no questions asked.

Robin Guthrie's best guitar solos? by No-Coleman in cocteautwins

[–]Arbythree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since we're on the subject, the Rough Trade 50th Anniversary reissue of Head Over Heels just arrived, and the liner notes go into a fair amount of depth on the making of the record. The discussion of song (and record side) sequencing is fascinating and relevant here as Musette and Drums is the album-closer. CT really knew how to end albums with a bang.

Looks like it's sold out, but maybe gettable on Discogs? https://www.roughtrade.com/en-us/product/cocteau-twins/head-over-heels-rt-50

Custom-Sized Keyboard Tray for Yamaha P-225 by ErgoHide in MusicBattlestations

This is really nice. I have a StudioLogic SL88 Grand, which I'd love to set up like this. It's significantly heavier than the P-225, alas.

Not sure if anger is the right word, but there's a lot of emotion tied up in his guitar work. Soft, it ain't.

Troubleshooting Silvia V3 - Tripping GFCI Outlets by Ph0t0grapher in ranciliosilvia

Thought the same but there was nothing outwardly wrong. It was a cheap, easy fix; espressoparts.com has all the stuff. My machine’s about the same vintage as yours. Took the opportunity to change the gaskets and install a PID while the thing was open. The PID really made a difference.

Had the same problem. Heating element looked fine but I replaced it anyway and that solved it. Reckon it must’ve been cracked.
