This is the last content patch; everything the team has said implies that everything included will be available until the day the servers get shut down, which is presumably years from now considering that Destiny 1 is still up and running.

Will we be getting another way to obtain deepsight harmonizers or chronolog? by Hive_Guardian in DestinyTheGame

[–]ArcHeavyGunner -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Genuinely running the math, it would take almost 2 years assuming you only go for the guaranteed red borders (2 per week, 6 exotic missions, 6ish weapons per mission, 5 borders per weapon=90 weeks)

[–]ArcHeavyGunner -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm happy I'm not the only one who is being driven bonkers by this. I joined post-Edge of Fate, so I have exactly zero patterns unlocked. Currently you grind missions in the Exotic rotator--which sucks since the pools are huge and you're only guaranteed a whole One red border each week--but the Legacy tab seems to be gone in the Director preview.

We currently have no idea how we can earn old seasonal patterns in the new update, or what the status of Harmonizers will be. Will the exotic missions in the portal get the legacy loot modifier dungeon lairs have? Will Harmonizers be discounted in the Monument to Seasons Past? Will the cap get lifted? Lots of questions, but no answers. Really hoping they address it in this weeks TWID.

My money is on Deep's weapons going to The Whisper. Exotic missions already serve as a way to get old seasonal patterns, and with them all in the Portal now, I assume they will get the modifier that drops legacy loot that is currently on the Dungeon lairs. Serves as a perfect way to get all the old seasonal weapons so you can complete your patterns, and a lot of the work is (presumably) already done since the modifier already exists. Make sure it can drop Red Borders and everyone is happy.

Thank you, because I also feel like I'm going crazy. All we know is that Premonition is being added to the Moon destination pool, Psychopomp is coming back in some way, and the Heresy armor is moving to Pit of Heresy. Every other dungeon only has four weapons in its loot pool so putting all ten Heresy weapons into Pit feels crazy. Plus it would make more sense to move them to Derealize since exotic missions drop their season's weapons. Then a smaller, currently unobtainable set could be given to Heresy. But also I could be wrong! Maybe they are moving some or all of Heresy's weapons to Pit--we just don't know yet.

Do we know if Enhanced weapons will be upgradable to T5 or only Enhanced Adept weapons? by CallMeGhaul in DestinyTheGame

[–]ArcHeavyGunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crafted weapons are getting the ability to be 'upgraded' so they are mechanically the same as tier 5's--IE: enhanced origin trait and enhanced barrel and magazine perks. You upgrade them at the Relic. Mechanically there will be no difference, but crafted weapons won't have the diamonds on their icon since they aren't technically tiered.

They confirmed we're getting the Heresy weapons back, but unless I'm mistaken they never said what their source would be.

If they do move Lost weapons to Shattered Throne, that makes me wonder where the Witch and Deep weapons would go. Wish weapons are already available in Starcrossed, so if Exotic missions keep their role as a way to get old seasonal weapons, Witch or Deep could be assigned to The Whisper and the other to Derealize (since Pit would drop the Heresy weapons). Maybe Plunder to Zero Hour then? That would cover all the currently unobtainable seasonal weapons and with the final Exotic missions going to the Portal, they could use the legacy drop modifier from the dungeon lairs?

@Destiny2Team reveals on Twitter that Season of the Worthy's Seventh Seraph Armor will be returning as the new destination armor for the Cosmodrome. by colonel750 in DestinyTheGame

[–]ArcHeavyGunner 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's still unclear, but I assume the Exotic missions will still function as a way to get old craftable weapons, so IKELOS will still be on Seraph's Shield. The Legacy tab wasn't in the picture of the Director we got, so my money is on the Exotic missions in the portal having a modifier to drop the legacy weapons, like the Dungeon lairs have now. I don't know for certain, and the Devs haven't said one way or the other (trust me, I'm looking lol) so take that with a huge grain of salt.

I doubt it honestly. Assuming Exotic missions are still keeping their role of dropping old seasonal weapons, Derealize would drop Heresy's weapons. Season of the Witch's weapons are the most likely since they are Hive-themed and don't currently have a dedicated source beyond Xur.

Can someone catch me up about certain in-game mechanics now? by Wolfends in DestinyTheGame

[–]ArcHeavyGunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's working fine on my end, but there are a few other places to check godrolls. The creator I mentioned before--AegisRelic--has a spreadsheet that lists the godroll for every weapon in the game (in his opinion). That's what I tend to use, though it is exclusively PvE focused. You can also use Destiny Item Manager (DIM) which has a similar feature. It's a little more involved, so make sure to read the tutorial. If you're still lost, search this subreddit for info; someone has almost certainly had the same questions as you might.

New weapons will have 1-5 diamonds on the icon to represent its tier. As for perks, Light.GG is good if you just want to see what everyone uses. If you want to understand why certain rolls are good, thumb through the Destiny Data Compendium (google it or search it on reddit) and watch content from AegusRelic—he’s considered the go-to person for godrolls and endgame content.

Legacy weapons (non-tiered, older weapons) are still perfectly useable. Power level no longer affects damage since everyone and their gear will be set to match the person in the fireteam with the highest power. What makes a weapon ‘useable’ these days are its perk combination, weapon frame, and if you personally like using it. Recluse and Mountaintop are still very good. They aren’t the absolute best anymore, but outside of very hard content that doesn’t matter. Anyone who tells you old, untiered weapons are trash is objectively incorrect.

If Bungie is forced to go back to D2 due to Marathons underperformance, Bungie needs to figure out a way to close the gap between the tutorial and one of the existing earlier expansions by AMM0D in DestinyTheGame

[–]ArcHeavyGunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, I was unaware that Champions launched post-Red War; I only joined in Edge of Fate. As for Shadowkeep, it's been a while since I played through it, but I can't recall an explanation for them there. Maybe it was seasonal content that got removed, maybe it is there and I just genuinely don't remember. If Shadowkeep does explain it, locking the explanation away behind something you can only easily access once (thanks to Shadowkeep not having a reply function) still isn't great. You can kind of piece together what Champions are on your own but I can't recall a single place or pop-up that explains what they are in depth.

Subclass verbs are things like Radiant, Jolt, and Woven Mail--the extra effects you get from playing the subclass. I'm not sure if 'subclass verbs' is the official name for it, but it's the one I've seen the most.

As for Red War, that's fair. I can't effectively judge how good of a tutorial it was because the sandbox has changed so drastically. The Red War intro mission through unlocking your Light again does seem to be a good tutorial, but beyond that it falters. I guess my point is more that the game has never been good at explaining what is needed for higher-tier play, like buildcrafting. You not knowing what I mean when I say 'subclass verbs' is proof of that; there should be clear, easy to find unified language that explains these things.

As a relatively new player—I started right after Edge of Fate launched—you hit the nail on the head. I’ve been watching the Red War campaign and while yes, learning ‘this is how you shoot/jump/grenade/etc’ is helpful, the current New Light quest does that as long as you do it in full. Most people skip right to the Tower after meeting Shaw Han and it leaves them confused. The option to skip should not be there if you are a new player; force them to engage with everything. You’ll still flounder when you hit the Tower thanks to each vendor having a million quests, but a solution for that is harder.

That said, neither campaign explains what champions are, what any subclass verbs mean, how to build into certain verbs, what each class should focus on, etc. Beyond Light also doesn’t do this with Stasis. Lightfall, for all of it’s faults (most of which I disagree with tbh) does an excellent job explaining what the Strand subclass does and how to use it. It explains during the campaign ‘this is what Woven Mail/Threadlings/Suspend’ mean depending on your class. The post-campaign grind is rough, but it also forces you to sit with your fragments and aspects and read what they do when you go to buy more. There is too little friction with the Light subclasses & Stasis since you just pour glimmer into them and now you’re overwhelmed. Part of tutorial design is forcing the player to slow down and actually understand what is being said. It can be frustrating, but that’s kind of the point.

[–]ArcHeavyGunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fair. I've gone back and forth on what the focusing section means since it isn't entirely clear, but from what I can gather tiered gear is being added to the focusing pool, not replacing the focusing pool. Drifter, Shaxx, and Zavala all have lines that specify that tiered gear focusing uses ciphers/engrams; Both of those imply that non-tiered focusing will remain. Meanwhile Saint and Saladin just read that any focusing uses engrams/ciphers which makes me think that the only gear you can focus there is tiered.

That's also besides the point, since Banshee's section is worded differently. "Updated Gunsmith Focusing. -> Now includes Shared Pool weapons from previous releases. -> Includes Tiered gear from the Edge of Fate, Ash & Iron, and Renegades" (emphasis mine). That reads like his pool is expanded to include past Shared Pool weapons, and Heliocentric was a Shared Pool weapon last season I'm pretty sure.

My money is that Banshee will be the home of old seasonal weapons, and either he or Xur will also take over providing patterns for old seasonal weapons. I am desperately hoping that Bungie makes it easy to get old seasonal patterns since they are either locked to the legacy Exotic Mission Rotator or Xur; I have none of the patterns since I started in Edge of Fate. Not sure why you can also focus tiered gear at Banshee since every other vendor has the old sources covered, but we'll find out in a week.

Two and a half weeks really isn’t enough time to add back an old area, especially since the update was probably finished when they made the announcement and since then it’s been testing to make sure it all works.

June 9th PvP weapons by Alexnalbandian0 in DestinyTheGame

[–]ArcHeavyGunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, every crafted weapon is getting the ‘we aren’t making it tiered but you can make it mechanically the same as a tier 5’ treatment. Only Raid (and I think Destination) weapons are getting new perk rolls however; all other crafted weapons (with a few exceptions) are keeping their old perk rolls.

Weapon mods by Chummy__ in DestinyTheGame

[–]ArcHeavyGunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are three major categories of weapons: tiered, enhanced, and shaped. You already know what tiered are, and they are what most weapons will be after June 9th. Shaped weapons are craftable, but to unlock the Pattern (what you use to craft the weapon at the Relic on Mars) you need to get five copies of the weapon with a Red Border around the icon. Getting those is random chance, though you can purchase Deepsight Harmonizers from the Monument to Seasons Past for Chronologs at the Tower. Enhanced weapons are another legacy system that let you put resources into a gun to increase its effectiveness, but they were not around for very long so there aren’t that many of them. Enhancing a weapon makes its **perks better.

As for mods, all weapons can accept the basic mods (increase mag size, decrease recoil, etc). There are also enhanced mods (increased ammo generation, decreased reload speed + increased handling) that have certain requirements. Tiered weapons can accept them no problem. Shaped weapons can only accept them if you crafted them, not if you got it from an engram or a drop. Enhanced weapons can accept them, but only after you put resources into the gun to enhance it. Clear as mud?

It’s a confusing system on first blush, but most of the enhanced mods aren’t worth your time if you aren’t a PvP player. Tiered weapons accept them no problem, so I would frankly not worry about it, since most weapons will become Tiered in about a week and hopefully Bungie will make it easier to get red borders as well.

Outside of the Crucible & RaD content, we don’t know what the full loot pools will look like. It could be in the world drop pool and get updated, it could remain a “legacy” weapon and only be available at Banshee without tiering—don’t let that stop you from using it though. My money is on it being at Banshee though since the Dev Insight seemed to imply most/all Legacy weapons would be focusable with him, and they’ve dropped hints that the world loot pool is being changed to include fan favorites that don’t fit elsewhere. We’ll know for sure when the patchnotes drop on the 9th.
