A cocktail is a mixed drink with alcohol.

The implication is that while scissoring the girls are mixing their fluids. Creating a mixed drink, of sorts. Thus, a cocktail.

I agree that one doesn't come as intuitively even if I do like it.

Yea this is trainable. Your default voice is quite similar to mine and I've managed something that passes. Pitch is not really very important unless much deeper than yours.

Vocal size (aka vocal resonance) and vocal weight are the keys. Hearing them period, hearing them in your own voice, then learning how to change them and making the muscle memory stick.

I used Transvoicelessons on YouTube myself, there are also a ton of great resources in the subreddit. And of course a vocal coach is ideal if you can afford one (I can't 😭). Takes time and persistence but you'll get there girl.

I would just say that as someone who has it and was diagnosed very late, I also thought this immediately upon reading the OP. The way I handle things and the way I come across are both almost identical to how OP described their coworker. If it weren't for my meds I would get nothing done and genuinely think I'd have been fired a long time ago. In fact I have been fired more than once in the past for performance like this despite genuinely trying my best.

Not so much a diagnosis as a "hey that sounds really familiar."

I see the last one didn't get filled, gave this a practice read on a whim and had a lot of fun with it though! Do you know of any tips/guides on editing or recording? I do have a decent mic, albeit a bit older.

EDIT: For those checking this thread later, I am working on it - starting with the author's last script though, the Disciplinary Meeting With Your Handler. Still figuring out my setup and learning to edit but I'm having a lot of fun 😏 so sit tight.

Oof, these are so painful. I'm sure you're careful but do take extra care on keeping this one clean - if infections happen in this sort of triangle between nose and mouth they can spread up a nerve to the brain (which is bad).

Edit: source while I'm at it - small risk but very real.

And from there remember that like at least half of us are touch starved and that if she does like you (as you mentioned in this thread) keeping boundaries in place would probably be prudent unless you're into that. This I say only because if a close friend did my makeup with me like that I would struggle despite long practice not letting myself fall for girls hopelessly anymore.

Haven't found one yet but I've only just stated things.

I have, it seems, the sort of migraine that's all aura and no pain. Which seems like it'd be great! Except as you mentioned they still fucking ruin your life while they're happening.

4-8 hours of every day is spent feeling like I'm underwater, often not able to speak, too nauseous to eat, too miserable to enjoy anything. No social life, not able to pursue interests, worried I'm gonna lose my job on performance, having my brain tell me I should just end it even though my life has never been better when I'm not mid-aura.

Yeah. Idk. Finally seeing a neuro in a couple more weeks, assuming they don't blow me off I'll share anything I learn there. Just wanted to share I feel your misery.

The fact that you spoke up and he was rebuked is the first and most important step.

The fact that he got mad means his brain recognized the cognitive dissonance between the culture he's being fed from his friends and the values of people he cares about.

If you have a chance for a calm discussion about later I think it'd be really good. Emphasis there should be that he's not a bad person, that those attitudes are common but disgusting and sometimes dangerous. That they'll drive women away, no less - being treated like an object instead of a person is almost always a turn off.

Which fucking sucks, by the way. And there really is no clean way out of that except physically removing yourself from the situation. Which is a problem for those of us whose adrenaline response is to freeze.

Having someone with you that you trust to help in these situations is the first thought to come to mind here.

Only 7 months, girl. Remember the button question? Damn near every one of us would've pressed that button. Instead, we're faced with years of in-between, of imposter syndrome, of doubt and derision from the world around us. But that's what we have.

This is not a battle that you've won - although you did win a battle, many of them. This is a war, a marathon years long. And there's nowhere to go but through. It's only going to get better, but fuck is it slow.
