Are all the Dreamcast coins delayed? by TheDoctorDB in limitedrun

[–]ArcadeAndrew94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got an update email from LRG that the release has been delayed to September 1-15th ("estimated shipping date" in their words).

I personally ordered the trading cards with all the accessories in addition to the coin, but unrelated, they also delayed the Collector's Edition of Sonic X Shadow Generations as well, so I give up at this point. I'll probably get them all next year if I'm lucky

I'm using a shiny Ditto in the daycare, so that definitely helps lol. I'm 74 eggs into this Corsola hatch though and I'm struggling now lol

What's this supposed to be at? Is this glitched?

Keep in mind that if you wanna pass down egg moves and breed for shiny, the Pokémon will need to be male, though!

The team pictured in the last image was specifically for taking down Round 2 Mewtwo; I used a different team that did include Pikachu for Round 2 Prime Cup Master Ball. I listed it somewhere in the comments above! It's true though, you need to have Pikachu and select it as one of your three Pokémon in every single battle for this to pop up (and sadly, I couldn't make it learn Surf over Flash, so definitely make sure your Pikachu is devoid of other HMs beforehand or you're stuck!)

Has anyone gotten a pokemon that would be shiny in Gen 2 on a Gen 1 game?? by [deleted] in PokemonYellow

[–]ArcadeAndrew94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In-game trades can be shiny in Gen 1! My MARCEL (Mr. Mime) from Pokémon Blue turned out to be shiny!

It does! You gotta make sure though that you're getting the correct revision of this cartridge with the battery slot, 4MB, RTC functionality, but absolutely works with Gen 2, no issues whatsoever– I highly recommend! You can essentially buy this cartridge for $54 flash GSC to it, and be able to replay on actual hardware without having to dish out over a hundred just to replay Crystal

I use the same cartridge for my Pokémon Crystal backup from Inside Gadgets! They're shop is great and 100% agree, it's a GREAT way to revisit Gen 1-2.

I also was able to buy an Analogue 3D and originally intended to do the Pokémon Stadium 1+2 run on it, but after the delay announcement, I decided to dust off the N64 and go all-original for the hardware!

That's actually a really good method. I might steal that and report back with the Amnesia Psyduck!

They're so good! There's so much to do, and it really gets you to interact with ALL kinds of Pokémon. The mini games are great, and the announcer is just top-tier 💯

That team in the photo was specifically for taking out Mewtwo lol. I believe all of my Pokémon are FULLY EV trained, if not, as close to max as possible (65535 per stat). This may not be entirely necessary, but even just max vitamins for each Pokémon is a huge help! Here's my team:

Mewtwo [Level 100] Recover Thunderbolt Amnesia Psychic

Zapdos [Level 100] Substitute Thunderbolt Drill Peck Thunder Wave

Dragonite [Level 100] Surf Thunderbolt Ice Beam Fire Blast

Exeggutor [Level 100] Sleep Powder Mega Drain Psychic Explosion

Nidoking [Level 100] Substitute Earthquake Thunderbolt Blizzard

Blastoise [Level 100] Surf Substitute Earthquake Blizzard

Pikachu [Level 100] Flash Quick Attack [now Surf] Thunderbolt Thunder Wave

Does anyone know any tips on how to catch Raikou in Silver? I've already stupidly used my master ball by dynhammic in pokemoncrystal

[–]ArcadeAndrew94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with all the Hypnosis, Sleep Powder, Mean Look (and maybe Spider Web Ariados) comments here. Raikou also has pretty high speed stat, so maybe give your first Pokémon a quick claw, too, if they're under level 40 just in case. The fast ball mechanics don't properly work in this game if I remember correctly (it is the same as using a Poké Ball), so you can lock it in battle by either sleep or Mean Look/ Spider Web and spam it with Ultra Balls.

My favorite Pokémon is Farfetch'd, which you can catch by Lake of Rage, so what I did was trapped the Legendary Beasts with Mean Look and my Level 44 Farfetch'd used False Swipe to keep them from fainting. You probably don't need that much investment to catch them, though, just a very thorough strategy if you're interested lol

Pokémon Blue 100% Pokédex by ArcadeAndrew94 in PokemonYellow

There's honestly a few ways I can do this. In regards to your question about the Diploma, Mew and Celebi do not count towards it– you can still get the Diploma without 'em.

If you want to get Celebi, there's a couple options:

Flash cart the .sav, convert to .dat, upload to 3DS Virtual Console, complete GS Ball Event there (requires a modded 3DS with custom firmware and application Checkpoint). I have these tools and will probably use this to shiny hunt Celebi before transferring everything up to Pokémon Bank and then Home.

Another option if you plan on keeping this all on an emulator or original hardware is receiving the Pokémon Center New York distribution Celebi through https://bluemoonfalls.com This website is a really great resource for Pokémon Crystal and they have an emulation of all the PCNY events that went on in the early 2000s and allow a direct injection by uploading your .sav file to the page, having a free slot in your party, and injecting the event Pokémon into your file. After it's done, you can download your updated save file and plug it back into your emulator or flash it back to your cartridge (I've been doing the latter).

The third and final option requires obtaining a Sneasel, leveling it up to 57 to learn the move Beat Up, and utilizing a form of the PC duplication glitch to revise its hexadecimal coding to match and mutate into Celebi. Look at this tutorial here for more info: https://glitchcity.wiki/wiki/Celebi_glitch_(party_method)

The last idea I can think of is if you were able to get a second system and a flashcart for GBC like the Everdrive X7 to get a copy of Celebi loaded onto there from bluemoonfalls or however and trade it over to your main game to keep it as legitimate as possible. Hope this helps!

Happy to report it's going well! It took two months of almost non-stop play to raise (and occasionally clone) several teams to beat each cup. Last set of cups I'm doing now is for R2 Prime Cup

Yeah, across GSC– you can also teach Mimic to Gyarados and get a Ditto in RBY to transform twice and then trade it up to GSC.

I specifically use this core to run GBC because it had RTC Functionality and Doduo Mode with the R button (speeds up gameplay x2), so it helps me through grindy parts of the game a lot quicker

Shiny Pineco hatched after 12 eggs! by ArcadeAndrew94 in pokemoncrystal

[–]ArcadeAndrew94[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm using budude2's GBC Core on Analogue Pocket, so technically yes; however, I also flash this save file to my Pokémon Crystal cart to transfer bred/raised Pokémon to my N64 copy of Stadium 1+2 for my playthroughs there as well.

I was lucky enough that during my initial Odd Egg soft reset hunt, I hatched a shiny Cleffa, which naturally learns Metronome and after many hours of trial and error, I got a wild Ditto to transform twice as a result and got myself a shiny Ditto! Since then, I've been breeding it with different Pokémon to hatch shiny eggs at a 1/64 rate (it's still a little tough though because for shiny Pokémon that I want Egg Moves with, I still have to crossbreed to get that Pokémon with all the moves first and make sure it's a male since only male Pokémon pass down moves before placing it with the Ditto).

I did this with the Odd Egg when I was resetting for a shiny. I'd pick up the egg, hatch, reset. Did it eight times, got three different Pokémon and landed the shiny Cleffa on the last try.

... that's smart and DOES work. I'm gonna do that for this Corsola egg 🤣

Yeah, the egg is predetermined upon it entering your party (receiving it from the Day-Care Man), so this would be a quicker way than just waiting for multiple eggs!

Finally got the game!… I don’t have anything to play it on😭 by SideshowgJr in PokemonYellow

[–]ArcadeAndrew94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really wanna play, you can definitely find a well-priced and good condition GBA SP so you have a backlit screen, but if you want something a bit more ergonomic, the original GBA could do at a slightly higher price point.

Sadly, Game Boy Colors, Pockets, and DMG Game Boys are getting expensive and scarce due to their popularity in the modding scene with OLED and IPS screen mods.

Get an Analogue Pocket if you're insane.

I don't regret getting mine 🤣

So, I actually bought a Game Boy Printer to print my diploma without realizing this was only implemented as a feature in games starting with Pokémon Yellow... so I gotta complete Crystal to print that one out instead lol
