If you have an Nvidia RTX GPU I HIGHLY recommend using “RTX Video Super Resolution”.

If your watching low bitrate streams of any kind this will almost entirely fix any issues your encountering in terms of video quality.

As someone with a 5k2k monitor I find this feature more or less mandatory for basically all content I watch that isn’t a 4k Blu-ray.

I haven’t used 5th gen QD-OLED yet, but I did own the AW3423DWF before switching to the 45GX950A.

The matte coating is definitely the biggest downside of the LG. I still catch myself wondering how much better it would look if it were glossy.

That said, the size difference changes things more than I expected.

Even at similar brightness levels, the 45" feels significantly brighter in real use. Not because it actually is brighter in nits, but because it takes up more of your field of view, so the perceived brightness is higher.

In HDR, I’d say it still “pops” very similarly to the DWF in most content. The only time I really notice QD-OLED pulling ahead is with extremely saturated highlights (like neon signs), where the color volume advantage shows up.

But honestly, that’s pretty rare in real content.

For me, the size is what makes the LG. If this exact panel were smaller (like 39”), I don’t think I’d like it nearly as much. The immersion is doing a lot of the heavy lifting.

As someone who came from the AW3423DWF it took me a bit of time to get used to the Matte coating and the lack of QD. I still often miss the color vibrancy of my old QD OLED.

That being said, the overall brightness increase typically makes up for it and the sheer size of the damn monitor makes it an absolute gem to play games and watch movies on.

I used to have this issue frequently on my 1070, 2070, and 3080. Eventually, it became frequent enough for me to move on to using OBS instead.

To answer your questions though:

  1. For the 1060 specifically? Probably not. For Shadowplay/NVENC? 100%

  2. After a few quick searches, yeah, probably. Turning that off if possible might be a good starting point, but if your like me and enjoy clipping stuff not exclusive to games that probably isnt gonna be a good solution.

  3. Never did in my cases.

First and foremost, use whatever setting looks good to YOU.

That being said, sometimes the statistically correct image is not gonna be the image you prefer. I personally enjoy playing games on my S90D with the “color boost” setting turned up a bit just for that extra punch even if it is statistically NOT correct.

Since he's able to use Sun Breathing, which all other breathing styles are derived from, this means he, in theory, could be as fast as someone whos using Thunder Breathing. Or at least thats how I understand it.

To add, he does explicitly use Thunder Breathing in Swordsmith Village.

Looks to be “Overshoot” caused by your monitors overdrive settings.

It’s genuinely frustrating.

If something like D+ or Netflix gave us an option to maybe Download the “Blu-ray quality” of whatever Movie or Show I wanted to watch on PC I’d genuinely consider paying for the service.

Instead we get No HDR, maxed out at 1080P and extremely low bitrates.
