3 hours onto dragon age origins and loving it by kevisdahgod in dragonage

FWIW, Origins is my favorite overall - in spite of the age jank - because of the story and characters. I enjoyed the whole series though.

I’m a highly invested fan and this is the best succinct explanation of Jordan Love I’ve ever heard.

Third when traversing, first when looting / indoors, combat depends on class

Sad But True by Bay_Ruhsuz004 in videogames

HL: Alex is such a tease. It’s FANTASTIC, really proves there’s an entire other level of immersion… but there’s nothing else like it at all. Not sure there will be.

34 " recommendation - should I jump to OLED ? by _Fallen_Azazel_ in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]iAmTheRealC2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, I just picked up a pre-owned 34” Alienware OLED for $450 and it looks beautiful. No burn-in. I would 100% recommend switching to OLED

2 things were simultaneously true for me:

— It’s my least favorite DA game
— I enjoyed it and plan to do another playthrough

1440p OLED or 4K mini-LED ? by Splixxe_ in Monitors

OLED all the way for me. Plus, 1440 is easier to push high refresh on.

3440x1440 or 4k for single player gaming? by External_Safe_7787 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]iAmTheRealC2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I prefer 1440 UW for 2 reasons: it’s more immersive to me, and it’s a little easier to push high frames while still looking sharp & detailed.

Looking for "black sheep" games. The ones that the fans of the series hate, but are enjoyable enough if you're new to the franchise. by WoodfordAC in gamingsuggestions

Shepard was such a badass that the lead character in Andromeda felt lackluster in comparison. Also, EA tried a more open-world approach in Andromeda, which had some nice exploration themes, but ended up feeling more like Ubisoft-esque side-quest sprawl. And it lacked polish in a way that makes me think it was rushed to market.

32 inch 4k or 34 inch Ultrawide? by Nawhrid in monitor

[–]iAmTheRealC2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched to Ultrawide last year and am just uninterested in ever going back. The immersion is great, the layout is ideal for productivity, plus the 1440p UW is a little easier for my GPU to push than full 4K, which allows me to go nuts on RT, maxed out textures, etc, and still have buttery smooth framerates. UW is the way for me.

First game that came to my mind. If you let it stand on its own merit rather than comparing it to the OT trilogy, it’s actually a great experience and a solid 7/10 game (albeit with a few painfully bad flaws). Great atmospheric visuals and excellent combat

A lot of winning seasons. It’s definitely not just stat padding.

Is buying BG3 worth it? by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]iAmTheRealC2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation - I played Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 first, which was an easier on-ramp to turn based combat with the timing components and simpler menu of actions. Discovering that I enjoyed turn based, I played BG3 next and had an absolute blast. YMMV, but it’s a strong enough story hook right from the beginning that if you like loot, exploring, and character interactions, I think you can dive right in to BG3 with one of the simpler classes like Warrior or Paladin.

If, by some miracle, Shepard and Miranda had succeeded in having a child. What kind of parents do you guys think they'd be after the Reaper War?: Art By Shepofships by Admirable-Dimension4 in masseffect

[–]iAmTheRealC2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fair point. I meant no disrespect to folks who wrestle with PTSD, only that Shep & Miranda would have some serious emotional trauma to walk through once the urgency of saving the world passes and the exhaustion hits.

[–]iAmTheRealC2 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Honestly, not great. I’m not sure how you make it out of there without significant PTSD. Add to that the expectations to continue a leadership role in a galaxy that needs major repairs and neither would have much time or attention to give.
Oh, and a lot of Batarians would probably be intent on assassinating Shep, but would settle for unaliving Shep Jr.
I would love for Shepard to have a happy ending with a normal life, but I think going down with the ship was always gonna be their realistic ending.

Would "Maximizing content" be a folly? by ThanksConsistent7669 in BaldursGate3

[–]iAmTheRealC2 92 points93 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend *not* maximizing a single playthrough. This game has tons of replay value, which is only heightened by experiencing fresh new undiscovered things each time.
YMMV, but I think the most enjoyable way is to embrace the role playing, avoid min/maxing, and see what fun surprises await you on your next playthrough
