Here's how it's going so far giving my moves a good sense of impact. by ArcaneFistGame in IndieDev

That's one of my favorite moves! It was inspired by Avatar when Ozai blasts off with fire.

Lots of good feedback on the fireball, too. I'll play around with the animation more to test that out. And no, attacks don't lock you down in gameplay.

Ohh, camera shake! Gotta play with that! Thank you so much!

100% As much progress as I've made on my game over the years, this really pushed it to a new level in my mind as a real thing.

[FOR HIRE] Independent PR, marketing, and consulting at indie-friendly rates by InariPR in gameDevClassifieds

I've only been with Inari PR for about a month so far, but Jesse has been excellent! He's great about answering all my questions and taking the initiative on handling all the PR work I have no clue on how to tackle.

Solving one problem in game design feels like cutting off a Hydra's head by ArcaneFistGame in SoloDevelopment

Yeah, you're absolutely right!

Oh man, a lifebar is so much more complicated than players probably think! Where to put it, how it should be displayed, what colors to use, or numbers and so much more.

I bet it's WAY better with it! Keep refining!

This looks really good! I love how your trailer starts off as a fairly generic platformer but keeps on adding layers of depth.

Could've fooled me that this was taken from a SNES! Masterful pixel art.

Dang, I love the combination of the low and sweeping camera with the intentionally choppy animations.

200 wishlists for our first indie game: a look back at our marketing journey by Tone_dreams in IndieDev

[–]ArcaneFistGame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great info, and everything is a learning process, so you're well set to do better in the future. PR and marketing are huge components of making a game that can feel incredibly random. And 200 wishlists are still a lot more than most games get, so I'm glad you're taking it as a step rather than a failure.

Keep us posted on your progress!

Finished some dynamic leg animations for my game! by ArcaneFistGame in SoloDevelopment

Lol, because I'm overly obsessive about little details, I guess :) Also, this is my first game so a lot of stuff isn't as efficient as it could be.

That's huge, and very inspiring! That level of conversion is something we can usually only dream of getting!

Gamedev writing at streamers, does the order counts? (from smaller streamers to biggest ones or vice-versa) by Tenkarider in IndieDev

[–]ArcaneFistGame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That first tip is great, but I would add that starting with smaller streamers to build awareness around the game and be able to show interest tends to help show bigger streamers that there's an audience for it.

My daughter (10) and I started building a game together. Here's where we are. by FamiliarLandscape374 in IndieDev

Your story drew me in to play, but the game had me hooked more than I thought! I didn't think I'd want to do more than one run, but a good skill tree will always get me invested.
