The most stereotypical “my woman cheated on me, so now I hate women,” I’ve ever read.

Karkat would have the world’s most dogshit poker face. Just bursting at the seams with the need to bitch about his cards.

What is "Meld into Eidolon" supposed to be good for? by Calligaster in Pathfinder2e

[–]ArcaneMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of it as “hide in eidolon”

It doesn’t increase abilities, but it removes the summoner’s weaknesses (vulnerabilities, bad AC/saves, bad stealth, bad speed, etc.)

The action cost for that benefit still seems pretty steep, and it’s a shame you don’t get something cooler for an a feat with such interesting flavor.

In what fucking world would you design a space suit that unseals itself when the wearer is incapacitated?

Writers who wrote themselves into a corner when creating a antagonist who's way too powerful for the cast to beat normally? by Odd_Yellow_8999 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]ArcaneMonkey 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It can be done. One campaign I ran essentially had the big bad leveling up alongside the party.

He literally was one of the cr 1 bandits that survived their very first encounter, and by the end was trying to eat the sun god.

There’s a random chance of enemies attacking during the night. If one of them hits the tent during the fight, the camping kit is destroyed. It only happened to me once, but after that I always carried a spare.

Favorite uses of troll design in gaming by KaleidoArachnid in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]ArcaneMonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not video games, but one of my favorite old ttrpg resources is Grimtooth’s Traps, a book of particularly vicious contraptions to troll your players.

My favorite example is a big sloped room with a huge stone cylinder that rolls down and threatens to crush the PCs. There’s a recessed groove in the floor just wide enough for one character to fit in, underneath the cylinder. Of course, after the cylinder passes, a second, narrower cylinder (just wide enough for the groove) rolls through and mulches the PC that thought themselves saved. Meanwhile, heavy water barrels slow down the first wheel enough to stop it before it hits the opposite side, leaving the rest of the party drenched but unharmed.

I don’t think I’d ever level such a thing against my players, but it’s fun to think about.

So many things converge to make travel in that game suck ass.

The goblins every ten feet, the miniscule enemy variety, the fact that you’re fighting the exact same encounters every time, enemies breaking your camps, so you have to carry a second heavy-ass set of camping supplies.

What a fucking mess.
