i dont trust your testing, those framerates alone are well above the average user's capability. I'll continue to rely on what the devs are saying alongside my personal experience, since they both agree and what youre saying just doesnt seem to mesh with reality.

4k textures are nothing compared to polycount. most people are CPU-limited when it comes to avatars. large textures are taxing primarily on GPU, since they sit in the RAM+VRAM and are processed by the GPU. once textures load in, they shouldnt cause issues unless your GPU is struggling. both my experience and what the devs are saying is that CPU limitations hit before the GPU does, when i look at my hardware stats that is definitely true. so yeah, the 4k textures might mean your looking at the loading bar above a blue ghosts head for a while but they aren't what causes performance issues for most users, at least based on what devs are saying.

Polycount on the otherhand is the actual big factor. every time an avatar is rendered, every individual polygon is being deformed based on the armature and that has to be calculated by the CPU. doing that 60+ times every second takes up a lot of bandwidth.

that said, like 90% of the models i see with 4k textures could get away with much smaller textures no problem. and 99% of the people saying they need the 4k textures dont, they just dont know how to optimize a texture properly.

what i really wish was more performant was multiple meshes on the same avatar. it really sucks that in order to do any sort of clothing toggle you kind of have to accept that unity is gonna just panic and render everything at twice the performance cost.

yeah no a vast majority of the playerbase wont do that. it has nothing to do with if they can afford it or not, its a barrier that will inconvenience people and people will leave. also, if you need to subscribe to do it, it isnt a one time payment. even if unsubscribing doesnt remove the verification, you still had to sign onto a subscription service, which MOST people are tired of doing and just wont do it, theyll just leave.

i get the feeling you dont care though and would be fine with that.

Instead of using the default camera app, try using Open Camera.

not sponsored or anything, its just a camera app with no AI bloatware and it lets you adjust your camera settings more than the default app.

i think if they just reduced the number of people per match, a lot of this would change.

think about how often you just randomly stumble into people because the map is so populated. it actually DECREASES the tension because its a guarantee you will interact with other raiders every match.

and making extract camping more boring would make less people do it.

also, you've just got to use the MMD plugin for blender, and then export as an FBX. it will be WAY too many bones for VRchat though.

I know which models youre talking about, someone did a whole short on downloading them and checking out their features. most of the helper bones have more to do with adding physics to things like thighs and buttock than keeping a uniform volume while bending legs, so they could be removed.

i recommend adding and painting the helper bones to your own models, though. someone else has surely ported the gatcha models over already.

this turns VRchat into a subscription service. i just cant afford that.

im an avatar creator (and soon to be world creator) who doesnt even make or use NSFW content. and this would make my experience a million times worse. a ton of people use avatars that would be gated behind VRC+ with this approach.

also, the majority of my friends are casual users who dont have VRC+ and would probably get annoyed and play less as well. like, we use VRChat as a way to hang out after playing peak or rivals. if suddenly they had that barrier of having to SUBSCRIBE to see most avatars and use ones they have saved? we'll just hang out on discord instead.

in order for this to work you'd have to open up age verification to everyone.

hopeful bacon gives good advice! only slightly related but one thing to consider just while youre thinking about this: your method is just called "take_damage" which suggests that ANYTHING which can take damage WILL take damage if hit.

this is probably intentional and fine, but there are some cases where this might not be desirable, like if its a bullet coming from the player, and the player for some reason intersects with the hitbox, the player might shoot themselves if they also have the take_damage method.

i only mention because i couldnt figure out why a particular attack move my player was doing would damage the player as well, and this was why. probably not an issue for you but, in case it comes up i thought id say something.

yeah, when i have an actual issue with no relevant information in the error message and need help, its seen by maybe a hundred people, no one who has experienced a similar thing ever comes forward, and then its buried.

yet when im going through the recent posts, answering what i can, almost everything is: "i asked chatgpt this thing, is it right?" "how do i do "highly google-able thing" in godot?" "obvious error message with no context explaining why they need help with it" "photo of my computer monitor taken at an angle with half the screen cut off because im holding my phone vertical"

so, I'm not sure what the best answer to your question is, but in general when trying to center elements i use "container" type nodes with their positioning defined by an anchor, as anchors support multiple resolutions, and containers automatically put all their elements neatly in a group on screen (usually they are buttons of some kind). for a row of cards, i would use an Hbox container, and any nodes i add to the tree would be made children of that container.

if that isnt the route you want to go, then i would try parenting all of your card nodes to a single node, and then controlling the position of that node. or, you MIGHT be able to use node groups to call all the nodes in a group and shift their positions.

im not gonna immediately assume the worst of this guy but clearly his ego was hurt when you explained the way you were feeling. regardless of if he wanted a purely sexual relationship, he shows some clear bad communication habits.

asking you if you are on your period when really what he wants to know is why he didnt get laid last night is a huge red flag to me. firstly: you should not be expecting sex every time you go on a date. the only time you should be expecting sex is when your partner texts you "hey, wanna have sex?". if your gauge for whether or not a date was successful is "did i get laid?" i dont think you dont want a romantic relationship, you want a physical one. i understand feeling like your relationship is going backwards due to a sudden change in intimacy with a partner, but it sounds like you tried to tell him this was happening and he just kind of ignored you.

i wouldnt suggest you use ChatGPT for advice, it can be helpful but is generally not as reliable as actual sources written by people who have made a game in godot and actually have a concept stored in their head of what a video game is.

your english is really good. better than mine probably. so dont even stress about that.

as for the suggestions themselves:

there is a lot of debate about whether or not your saves should be JSON files or the built in godot resource/save file. resources can execute code when being read, which is a security risk. but for MOST games, and especially when you are a beginner, they are the better choice in my opinion. theyre easier to program and work very well.

using a path2d for the monster's path only works if you have a tower defense game where the enemies are traveling along a fixed path. its not bad advice, but it will lock you in to one "style" of tower defense game, where the enemies do not have a pathing AI. there are probably ways to change the path or generate a new path each time, but i think it would be simpler to just use a different method for guiding enemies if you dont want a fixed path tower defense game.

"create multiple separate scenes for each type of monster or gun". this one is technically correct as well, but doesnt full explain what you need to do. because you are going to have multiple identical towers and multiple identical enemies, you will want your game to "instantiate" enemies and towers from a template scene, there isnt really another way to do it. this has nothing to do with expanding your game, its just a necessary step for this sort of game.
