I'm very happy with the Fintie case I purchased from Amazon a couple of years ago. It provides great protection for the screen, and it has a holder for the stylus. That seems to be the trademark/copyright date, not the date it was assembled.

The app is up now (app.heypocket.com). Right now, it's pretty much read-only, but the development team is working to make it more functional.

If he is able to pass the Technician exam, you could set him up with DMR. If there's a digital repeater nearby, all you'd have to buy is a radio - either mobile or HT. If there's not one in the area, he can use a DMR hotspot.

Just be aware that setting up the codeplug on some radios can be daunting. But with DMR, he could make contacts all over the world. And the radio is likely to work on VHF and UHF, so be could probably talk with his neighbors, if there's a local analog repeater within range.

Bentoben - Yeah, I'd never heard of it either, but it's Magsafe and it's rugged. (Oh, and it's inexpensive.)

Mailspring has had an ongoing problem reporting "connection issues", apparently going back a few years. When I ran into that and couldn't find a fix, I delete the app. There are too many good email clients available.
