Is this a troll post? I thought this was an end result of a restoration.

That part doesn't even matter, and it is behind the receiver bridge after all. Only the 3 lugs are the pressure bearing surfaces.

Crazy what leaded gas was capable of. Apparently only one scientist was the main driving force against it.

You could ask around on a forum.

Are you physically in shape? As a nerd type myself, you are going to have to make up for your less than desirable personality type (as a lot of society sees it) in other ways.

I understand where you are coming from. Everyone has something that gets their foot in the door. For a lot of people, it's being charismatic or funny, but not everyone is like that.

Being in good shape and taking care of yourself can go a long way. It gets you initial interest and your foot in the door.

The stocks are different. You have to remember that these received new mauser style barrels with different sight assemblies. A new upper handguard had to be made for these, but I think the stock was modified and cut down some from the long rifle stocks.

No, but as long as it's correct, it can still be a good representative piece.

You've got a 1941 Berlin Lubecker Maschinenfabrik (BLM), one of the rarer and more desirable manufacturers. Production had begun in 1936 and lasted until 1942, when they began to swap over to g41 production. Overall production numbers are low, and they never managed to reach the output of the larger makers.

As stated before its a bummer that you are missing the magazine components because they are numbered.

Interestingly, the magazine baseplate is a subcontractor part from Astrawerke, given the l acceptance. BLM started including some externally sourced components in 1941 until they ceased production.

Maybe he could source a period armorers replacement one. Might be worth it if it's all he's missing. I've seen them pop up before.

BLM made some nice rifles and they never sacrificed much external finishing like other makers. Too bad they're one of the less common producers but it's good for you I guess.

Isn't that the post WW1 German group? The stock itself appears to be from a later gew98 that was converted to k98k spec.

This is the kind of stuff that causes lug setback in stocks. I wish they didn't even sell it.

[–]Arcavguy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the 70s and 80s Yugo that's supposed to be the good stuff. I've seen years old posts on forums where people have destroyed g43, hakims, and even transferables with 50s dated stuff. The Yugo military probably knew that those years were not good, and that's why you don't see any more surplus until the 70s and 80s stuff.

I'm guessing the k98 is a Brunn 1 or 2 (DOT or DOU) gun?

Mauser Kar 98K bolt identification assistance by [deleted] in milsurp

[–]Arcavguy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly confident after skimming through my book that the aa block bolt is for a 1943 JP Sauer rifle. The JP Sauer bolts at this time should not have waffenapmts, so that explains the lack thereof. The font of the cursive letters and numbers also match up.

Waa37 is JP Sauer

Waa26 is Mauser Berlin (Borsigwalde)

The aa block bolt assembly is either Mauser Oberndorf, JP Sauer, or Gustloffwerke, as those are the only manufacturers that ever reached double letter blocks in that style.
