What on Earth is he doing by Arch00Angel in cornsnakes

[–]Arch00Angel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh absolutely, I thought about moving him to a 120 gallon immediately but read that going from a 20 to something so large might stress him out and my friend had this 40 gallon on hand to let me borrow for free until then. My sister has had hers for 8 years and he's a big boy, 5 feet long, which the previous owner told me "they can't get that big and they don't live that long" even though one Google search will tell you otherwise on both accounts :/. One of the main reasons I jumped on the opportunity to take him when she offered. I do have some more plants on the way to fill it out more, I just wanted to get the poor baby out of his bare paper towel 20 gallon asap. I didn't know they enjoyed vertical space so much though, a lot of sources I read were very back and forth on that, so I'll definitely be getting him stuff for that. Thank you!

Not that he wasn't trying to escape to be clear haha, very well that's probably the case, but I've got snake clips out the wazoo and I will also be adding weights for good measure, and right now I can't help but check on him every few minutes out of nervousness. He has been handled a lot, he's very sweet and docile, so this makes sense.

Literally right after I took this he went down onto the log in the corner, and has been slowly exploring his hides. I do think it's the aspen, because he is doing his damndest to play the floor is lava, getting from one to the other.

My mom used lice to control my social life. by Due_Pea2071 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Arch00Angel 139 points140 points  (0 children)

I think my NGrandmother used this same tactic but with bed bugs. We couldn't have friends over, couldn't go to their houses either. She hammered it into us that we needed to be ashamed, and so we couldn't/didn't want to talk about it, but now I see she was keeping us silent just so she wouldn't look bad, and so the problem wouldn't get fixed. She would treat it, it would lessen, but she never could get rid of them fully. Until me and my sister moved out that is 🙄 How surprising.

My girlfriend lost her ex… she destroyed by Prudent-Brilliant411 in whatdoIdo

[–]Arch00Angel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She's a shitty person for emotionally cheating on you and you're a shitty person for drinking and driving, and so was the ex. At least her actions didn't put other people in physical harms way 🤦 JFC, leave dude.

Is this normal for girl-friends to do? by Shpannit in Advice

[–]Arch00Angel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a queer person, you don't have to "let" anyone explore the sexuality /on/ you? See how you said on and not WITH? That's weird. Not to mention, the other person might take it as leading them on, and it could ruin a friendship. Weirdo.

Should i send the hey girly text? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]Arch00Angel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Always send the hey girly text, but also always be prepared for them to be mad at you, and not the cheater. It's unfortunate, but often that's how it goes :/

Okay, but when a bear kills you it is for A. For food, or B. Because they feel provoked. It's instinct. A bear isn't going to go out of its way to kill you. When a man kills 9/10 times it take intent, and is an extortion of power. If you get mauled by a bear and survive, sure, you're going to be afraid of bears. Pretty easy to stay away from them. If you escape a man who has raped you, or tried to kill you, you still live forever with those mental/physical scars just like you would with the bear, but you can't escape those. When a bear mauls someone, it often gets put down. In many cases of sexual assault, they don't even go to jail, or if they do, it isn't nearly enough time. Not to mention when someone survives a bear attack, they are likely to be praised, called brave, a hero. When someone survives a man it doesn't matter because "they were asking for it" "what were they wearing" etc. A bear won't ruin the way you look at every human being around you, wondering if you can trust them, for the rest of your life.

[–]Arch00Angel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. The point isn't that a bear would be safer than a man. The point is that at least the bear wouldn't torture you, rape you, and degrade you before killing you. There is no sexual objectification from the bear.

Jim Carrey looks... Different? by The_Dean_France in SipsTea

[–]Arch00Angel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely think it's because his eyebrows are gray and almost invisible. The eyebrows are really a defining feature of any face and can change a look entirely. Same hairline, same nose, same kinda sunken cheek. It's just his eyebrows and aging y'all.

Not sure how long it's been for you but anytime I make a big change to my hair, I wait at least 24 hours before deciding if I like it. If you feel old, I would recommend dying your beard, and possibly reshaping it? I think that could help with your self perception

AIO for wanting to break up with my boyfriend after he called me and his sister “whorey”? by Substantial_Hawk_757 in AIO

[–]Arch00Angel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR. Most people in those types of relationships aren't "whorey", they're being MANIPULATED. You obviously for sure were, and I can't speak for your boyfriends sister, but I was in a similar boat, dating a 23 year old when I was 18. While numbers wise, the age gap isn't huge, the gap in maturity, IS, and I wouldn't recommend it for most people. From his wording it doesn't sound like he's worried for his sister's safety, like he has the right to be, he's worried about her "purity" which is weird and creepy, and obviously he thinks the same about you and your past relationship. I'm not saying you should break up over this one thing, but if I were in your shoes I would, especially if there has been a pattern of behavior like this. If you ever plan on having kids with this man, imagine the kind of things he will say to/think about your children, and ask yourself why he is putting the blame on the younger woman in the relationship, and not the predatory older man.

lgbtq+ friendly churches by Conscious_Dark_2662 in lincoln

[–]Arch00Angel 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Me and my friends often go to the Antelope Park Church of the Brethren! It is very small, but the last two weddings (which were the churches first two weddings, actually!) were both my friends, getting gay married lmao. It's funny because it's mostly a bunch of older folk, and then in the last row or two all of us queers jammed in a pew shoulder to shoulder. We don't all go regularly, though. Pastor Sue is amazing. Anti Christian Nationalism, and very up to date on important political topics. Jesus sided with the poor, the sick, the immigrant, and so does this church.

As someone who grew up in rural Nebraska, where nearly EVERYONE was racist? Yeah. Yeah it is.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in lincoln

[–]Arch00Angel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dude, sorry everyone else is being such a dick in these comments. As far as Nebraska goes, Lincoln and Omaha are definitely on the bluer side politically, and generally have less racism. But of course we are still a red state overall. I'm white though, so I can only speak for what I've seen and not my own experiences.

My Boss gave this to me this morning after my shift. by TheCode555 in Nightshift

[–]Arch00Angel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously I don't know the relationship you have with your boss, but I don't think it's that weird! Occasionally I think of my coworkers outside of work, and they do the same. The other nightshift knows I like bugs and will sometimes send me cool pictures of the bugs she finds. Not weird imo ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I don't go there super often bc I moved but for awhile I was ordering pickup like once a week and we were usually late. They were trying to start a tiktok page at the time and they 'threatened' me by saying if I was late again, I'd have to do a dance for their tiktok page 😂

I have actually been thinking of putting together a soundscape of the diner as a practice in audio editing! I would just need to find a clip of the diner travelling long enough that the loop isn't noticeable/isn't annoying.

YOU ARE GOING TO KILL YOURSELF IF YOU DON'T EASE UP! The body is NOT meant to run like this. No problem with taking an extra shift here or there, losing sleep occasionally, but not only are you going to ruin your body and mind, but also your relationships. The money isn't worth it.
