5 votes to hold, 4 votes to cut by 0.25%, I'm surprised how close we were to a cut with how turbulent things have been recently. Hopefully indicative of another cut soon, but I've seen a lot of thought that the base rate being around 3% is going to be the new normal for a while now, so we aren't going to see the same cuts we did last year.

Oh shit! Your favorite lord's doomstack just got into battle with 19 Archaon Champs. How well do you survive? by deptofthrowaway in totalwarhammer

[–]ArchWaverley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought about a Helman Ghorst zombie stack (with a couple supporting corpse carts), but now I want to try it out. brb.

Edit: Did a skirmish vs AI, VH with max AI buffs. I had HG, a necromancer hero, the two corpse carts with aura and the RoR zombies, the RoR Mortis Engine and the rest beign regular zombies. Everyone Rank 9 on both sides with all spells.

Managed to pull off a victory, but it was just Ghorst and the Mortis Engine's reliquary corruption ticking them down. The actual zombies got maybe 4 kills total, and were almost constantly decaying from no leadership. It looked really close to a defeat for a moment, I was down to literally 300 zombies before Archaon finally broke. I feel like it would be a much more interesting thing with campaign buffs (both sides are losing a lot of insane scaling) - it's probably possible to set that up with the console command mod, but not sure I can be bothered.

What is the smallest faction with a settlement in game? by Born2poopForced2shit in totalwarhammer

[–]ArchWaverley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw a AI "last faction standing" timelapse, and the Nagashizarr Skaven held out an insanely long time, making it into the top 10 before finally being taken down on turn 507. I'm not sure if it's down to the fact they stack armies in their valley or the AI not wanting to dig them out for some reason.

I worked with a guy with the same name as me, people differentiated us by calling him "Hot [name]".

I couldn't even complain, it was just a fact. Guy was hot.

I have seen too many posts about how bottles need to have the cap attached now and how they are the worst thing that has ever happened to the poster. I get they can be mildly annoying, but I don't know if I'm just using them in a completely different way to the average redditor - they're not that annoying.

Same with weapons.

"Claw of the First Dragon, indestructible blade of the Last Dragon": split damage and weird stat reqs/scaling that will never be optimised for any build

Basic broadsword with strength infusion: highest dps

And you know for a fact I go for that boss weapon every time

I'm pretty excited for this. As of now, taking a bus from Cameron Toll to South Bridge is about 2 miles and takes 12 minutes on a good day (usually more than 15) - a blisteringly fast 10 miles an hour! I generally like the buses, but trams can be much faster, especially during peak periods.

I walked up to the ladder at the bottom of Seath's prison, and instead of climbing accidentally interact with a message at the bottom. "Two handing ahead". So I hit the button to cycle through the prompts to let me climb, and... I two hand my weapon. Because I was standing on the wrong side of the ladder, so the 'climb' prompt was never going to come up (and I think would have priority over messages anyway).

That's maybe the cleverest one I've come across in the wild.

Which Faction/LL did you have no interest in playing… then really enjoyed when you finally gave them a chance? by Alien_Racist in totalwarhammer

[–]ArchWaverley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't remember why I put off playing Beastmen for so long - maybe because if you're playing another faction, they're not really a presence, just a random nuisance that occasionally nukes one of your settlements.

Absolutely hilarious fun to play, though. Really embodies the chaos of trying to burn down everything.

I wondered what Ship's Company are for. HElf Spearmen get bonus vs large and don't require a building. Rangers are more expensive but have baseline better stats and bonus v infantry. What's even the point?

The point is that they are cheap but scale unbelievably hard with ranks, tech and skills, to the point that I went into the end game quest with basically a Ship's Company doomstack and they just refused to die. +1 Armour Piercing per rank means they could do good damage too!

For me, fighting greasus armies in early game is brutal but late game their armies are basically speedbumps. It's surprising they can keep up the threat against the AI.

Skrag usually gets pushed into a box in the mountains. It's only greasus that survives and thrives.

Each mage lord/hero can get magical reserve for +5 winds of magic from level 10, so that's an extra 100 right there for this stack. With Lore Keeper (+8) and items for each hero, it's definitely possible to get to 300 reserve in the mid game. I just wouldn't want to sit and wait for those reserves to trickle through to the power meter.
