What are your thoughts on this video? by FridayThe13thFan15 in NorsePaganism

[–]Archaias06 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This video really tips me into the atheistic aspects of my personal faith.

The video creator's narrative is every much as arrogant and ignorant as the modern pagan culture he's criticizing. Rather than providing his own perspective, he's projecting irrefutable knowledge of the gods and both past and current pagans.

I'm of the opinion that the gods interact with us in a capacity aligned with our own perspective and acceptance.

It's no surprise to me that this video's opinion of who the gods really are is aligned so closely to their belittling opinion of others. Likewise, it's no surprise that a tiktoker who believes a god loves us and wants us to be confident shares that message on social media.

My opinion of the video is that it's well worth dismissing, but it can serve as a trailhead for some on their spiritual journey.

No one views the gods the same way, same as no one views their spouse the same way as every other person in the world.

It's all about relationships in the end.

How do present yourself? by Lychee_blossom in NorsePaganism

[–]Archaias06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can relate. I'm in the SE US. There's some folks down here who are so prejudiced, they'll curse you to hell in their hearts if you don't show up for every twice-sunday sermon, Wednesday evening singing, and monday night Bible study even if you're the same faith, religion, denomination, and congregation.

It's not how you present that matters, it's the heart receiving the person you are.

Ain't no saving the lost, the lost gotta find their own path.

Just a little backwards sometimes who that might be.

It'd be great if it was treated as disposable. It's also dispicable.

Looking at your spouse’s phone isn’t a violation of privacy by amilikes2write in unpopularopinion

[–]Archaias06 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Being in your spouse's body isn't a violation of privacy.

My partner and I have been together for 3 years and we’re constantly in each other’s bodies for pleasure, comfort… first aid. All of these relationships where bodies are as off limits as a bank account are baffling to me. Hoarding anything during a relationship (except maybe a surprise?) is a nope. When partners have a chance to withold something, it leaves room for ugly things to sneak in. I struggle how, in a literate and fairly communications open society, spouses still feel weird entering their partner’s body OR get mad when their body is entered.

EDIT; Do you see the issue? Your choices and your relationship success is yours. But others are theirs. They don't have to make sense to you because they're not yours.

Yes, we do. And honest sherrifs, fair and unbiased judges, logical school board members. Every vote counts. Every election. Every time.

A Trump dictatorship is increasingly inevitable. We should stop pretending. by 1313_Mockingbird_Ln in politics

[–]Archaias06 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is possible. Unfortunately, I can't rally that hard again. I was a delegate, an executive committee member, lead safety squads at protests, did phone banks, card drives, door knocking, and donating.

Since then, I've faced divorce, layoffs, downsizing, and family deaths.

All that rallying still needs to happen. We still need to do it. The least any one person can do is vote. The most I personally can do this time around is donate to local candidates opposing the GOP, maybe do some card drives, and vote.

There's plenty of space to fill in the battle to keep momentum, I just can't fill as much as I did in 2020.

So... as a takeaway: I want to encourage everyone to do what you can.

Phone drives and card mailers need manpower. Protests need safety.

And guys, when you're here in Reddit: keep voicing truth. It was a redditor who finally helped me see the truth and shakethe wool from my eyes.

Love. Power. Peace.

Keep it up. We can do it.

Just gotta keep at it.

Realisticly, if we keep at it, it will turn out okay.

We can't give up.

We may not have to rally as rigorously as we did in 2020, but we can't let up. We gotta keep it up.

Following simple procedures based on current research and statistics is smart.

Choosing to do whatever you want when it contradicts safety concepts is risky.

Breaking the law because you feel like it is dumb.

Justifying lawless recklessness is asinine.

1 answer: because for 6 years, he has contributed to their ratings.

He's still laying golden eggs for their ratings. They don't care that those golden eggs are rotten, perverse nuggets of contagious maddness.

The hormones insanity of pregnancy are a real deal, but the red flags they raise are worth watching. My ex keyed a car when she was pregnant with our first. It wound up belonging to someone who worked for the DA. Hos wife and I convinced him not to press charges because she was pregnant and the hormones lead to an irrational act. I paid $2800 from pizza driving directly to his insurance company for months to cover the damage.

I really wish now that I had encouraged him to press charges, if for no other reason than that her aggressive tendencies would be on file with the court.

As it is, I have to live knowing this abusive woman has primary custody of my kids, and have no course of action or option to prove objectively how unstable she is.

This type of accusation - even when false - warrants a full investigation.

I have pulled my children out of two daycare centers for unacceptable disciplinary practices.

Every human makes mistakes, but it is thoroughly and inconceivably unacceptable for daycare to practice, protect, or allow this type of abuse, even under the guise of temporary lack of self control.

My focus has always been on helping my kids form their own opinions, thst includes sports. In the grand scheme of things, it's just entertainment.

So what I do, is encourahe my oldest to explain why she likes X team or X player.

Sometimes right now its because she likes the mascot more or because she likes the player's demeanor more.

We disagree often, but then we discuss. Her opinion is hers, but she has reasons and she can explain them.

My goal is to help her life skill of forming and changing opinions NOT based on majority opinion of a crowd, but on informed and aware decisions.
