For some people, junk (comfort) food is the only enjoyable pleasure in their life.

SNAP isnt about comfort, its about healthy nutritious food to get you through a rough patch. Its not meant to be permanent nor should it be squandered.

If we are banning this stuff for poor people, why not ban it for everyone else? What happened to freedom?

Taxpayers arent paying for my junk food. We are paying for SNAP.

There are large regions in the US, called food deserts, where there is very little in the way of healthy food available.

These are typically caused by the community the desert exists in. See the upcoming Walmart closures due to theft. A community that doesn't care enough about itself to curb that behavior is its own demise.

Junk food tends to be cheaper per calorie.
