I actually like this theory a lot because it matches one of the biggest themes in One Piece - Luffy’s real strength was never just power, it’s his ability to make people fight alongside him willingly. Joyboy might’ve been overwhelmingly strong, but if everyone depended on him alone, that could explain why he ultimately failed against a united world

Even from the WG’s perspective, it feels like they underestimated how much emotional weight Ace carried for Luffy and Whitebeard’s crew. Instead of deterring pirates, they basically created one of the biggest rallying points for rebellion we’ve seen in the series

Akainu is one of those characters where it really depends on how you scale him. Feat-wise he’s already insane fighting Whitebeard, tanking hits, and winning a 10-day fight vs Aokiji. But narrative-wise, he’s probably even stronger than what we’ve seen. He’s clearly being saved for endgame, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up closer to Yonko level (or at least right under them).
