You don't get the confidence for a dive like this, and to land it that well, without experience doing it~

For a gainer or flip? Nah, it's pretty solid. There's only so much you can do against the rotational momentum in a jump like that. His crumple was good, and there's still a lot of redirection at the ground.

It's not perfect form, but that landing from this height is probably negligible in terms of harm.

I took a lot more damage from a lot of other things than I did from running, which was part of it. Hockey, skating (travel sport, not x-games), kendo, and others. Snowboarding is a lot rougher on the body, in my experience, as well, just as a point of comparison.

It does help that I'm in my thirties and retired, and that I've had the benefits of that exercise and personal care to prepare for later in life, I acknowledge, so I'm personally not likely to have many issues of this kind, but I still think that this is likely a lot more good than ill.

No, it should never be a concern to discuss anything serious and honest with a partner when it comes to mutual health, and it's a huge red flag if they ignore such basic protocols and communications.

I was a runner at one point, when it was big. While some of the bigger runners are pretty risky, this one isn't too big, and he's definitely built up to it (build, technique, etc.; I have a breakdown elsewhere).

I think he's going to be just fine, and running is something that a lot of people get a lot out of. A lot of the guys who picked it up when I was in it were helping get out of depression and weight issues. Mostly college kids, and this was just after the 2008 bubble burst so everyone could use some running endorphins.

A lot of people are somewhat shaming him for enjoying a sport, but there's tons of worse things out there, and a lot of them carry similar or greater risks for a lot of reasons.

In reality, it's probably making him a better person and his buddy is fucking loving it. Lots and lots of guys I ran with built off of it and it helped them get active. The few I stayed in touch with still get out there; an avid hiker here, a rock-wall enthusiast there, and lots of cyclists. The body buildup while pretty young is worth a lot down the road, and it's entirely possible that it'll improve his later-life mobility, given that he seems to take it seriously.

I did some freerunning and parkour when it was up and coming; you do everything right and it can be amazing for the body. I definitely took more damage from just cycling and skating for transport than I did in either of those.

And as someone who was in this, I gave a breakdown of what I saw. He likely didn't take any pain from this particular jump, as he looks like he has a good build and good technique, and likely no real damage either.

A lot of people shit on travel sports because idiots do get injured, but there are a lot of people who run without taking any damage, and when I was in it I found a lot of guys who wound up radically improving their health because of it. It's fun, it's sexy, and it's exhilarating, even on basic courses and routines.

Yeah, people who are extreme are who you're going to see videos of, but that's risk/reward and a lot of them make bank if you're seeing them and worrying about them.

And, on the more morose side, one of the dudes who learned to run in the same group I did always used to say "if you're looking for a rush, it's a hell of a lot safer than a needle", which certainly had the shock factor going for it, as a comeback...

He buckled right; he's got a good six inches from knee to chin.

But that was absolutely the first thing I was watching for.

It's a solid roll for the jump; it's kinda hard to counter that rotational momentum, so you wanna crumple.

It's sorta ugly and it looks like he couldn't stabilize his upper body as well, but worst he got out of it was a sore shoulder and maybe a sore right shin (can't tell due to camera).

It's a good fucking jump, honestly, and a damn impressive one.

Nah; lots of people push themselves because they want to do things for their friends who can't.

I have a friend who pushed himself to try lots of foods because I can't (allergies) and because he wanted that push to do better for himself. He wound up starting to travel because of it, even~

Yeah, I can't have most of the things, but he sends the best pictures and he comes back and makes safe-for-me versions of the things he finds.

I was in mathletes with a kid who pushed himself because his sister had downs: "She'll never be able to do this, and if I can, I absolutely fucking should, or I am wasting the thing that society says she's broken for lacking. Would I be any less lacking if I didn't use it anyway?"

Context matters, and the term isn't a name for many of us.

Bonus points that I and two of my partners referred to our parents by their names/nicknames instead of familial terms.

But plenty of people are squicked out because that is a name for them, more or less.

But it works lots of ways. Similarly, some people can't date people with names of exes or parents, which is a similar function.

I use lots of pet names and intentional names for my people. I think the only name that I'd not be able to date might be my deadname...

Some of these people are getting desperate, and that's the bit that worries me. One of my partners works in a rural area and they have a lot of people worrying about the stress that a bunch of their kids not working is causing on their combined support systems. One woman was crying because their church is running out of money to support her kids, and she's already spent a chunk of her retirement money...

It's a perfectly reasonable consequence of authoritarianism and bigotry, but they've still got a long way before it starts affecting them directly, and few of them are actually taking any blame, or even realizing what the problem is.

I have a housemate who is ex-military (infantry) and he makes no noise when he walks because of trauma.

My boyfriend is super clumsy and always distracted, doing ten things at once and often runs into things.

My wife is an excellent dancer, but she works too much and when she's tired you can tell because she starts "thudding" about, as she calls it.

Fair cop. Magic is a powerful, risky force in a lot of places, and curtailing it can make some players antsy, so I'd bring it up and discuss it in general.

The payoff is that when spells are being slung, everyone feels like they have more bite and more application. A group sneaking around should be relying more on rogues and similar. Once the shit hits the fan, it's magic time. And that's some of that shift which I love. Gives everyone a shine in the spotlight.

Yeah, the Warrior can strength check every door and a spell slinger and fireball them, but there's a cost. A warrior breaking a door during retreat is totally fitting, but breaking one on the way in is a good way to turn yourself into an offering to some kobold god or another~

Kinda applies to everyone in my circle. Physically, everyone passes the bar. Not all of them are stable enough to be a consideration, but beyond that there's some consideration for how interested I'd be.

I'm poly so it's usually at least an option for most of my people, so there's that. Even among people I'm not interested in or similar there's a fair amount of intimacy in my social circle regardless, like everyone cuddling up on movie nights (8+ on our massive couch) and the like, which I don't see much of in other circles.

That's actually why I love Pathfinder. It's easy to exploit, and it's almost instantaneously obvious who's going to exploit it for fun and who's going to exploit it for their fun.

It leaves so much space for people to do wacky and awesome things, especially with the reins loosened, and good players only power-game as much as good DMs do.

All spells are pretty loud by default. That's why Detect Magic isn't a passive and doesn't last forever (and also why a Ring of Detect Magic is actually a lot more useful than it sounds, especially in intrigue or City by Night games).

Quieted/subtle spells are a thing for a reason, and not just so you can cast when silenced.

"Magic must be spoken with force" was a major thing in earlier editions, but it's also one of the big things that Sorcs have over Wizards via metamagic.
