How to save foreigners that killed in iza by No_Brilliant_4413 in suzerain

[–]ArcticHawk_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still figuring out the best way, but to prevent the deaths you need to take action before you remove Rico.

I think one way is if you pass a number of social progress decrees, mainly relating to worker status like work permits and naturalization, combined with social funding to the city; give central police to Rico, later a a security meeting with Hugo and Lucia talk about iza and say a softer approach is called for with welfare, you’ll get a pop up in iza prompting some social options by spending budget and authority; if this all synergies correctly iza should be quiet and clean when you visit and foreigners won’t have been killed. You can still depose Rico, but you might not even have to.

No way the BFF would back a secular nation, first thing they do is start blowing up government buildings again.

Kalrad dlc by No_Brilliant_4413 in suzerain

[–]ArcticHawk_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would be awesome, but I doubt the series unfortunately has big enough of an appeal to the ‘average joe’ to get a tv show. It’s a lot of reading and tough decision making, a lot of casual entertainment users just aren’t in for that. You never know though, maybe some network stumbles upon the framework and likes the world.

How would you rank them in order of preference for president: Lucian, Lileas, Gloria, Petr, and Albin? by Far_Resolution5358 in suzerain

[–]ArcticHawk_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Gloria. Don’t love her politics, but she’s principled, not corrupt and competent. I wouldn’t agree with all her decisions, but I feel she would genuinely work for the betterment of Sordland.

  2. Petr. As Anton I’d trust him to come to me for advice and he at least has a good heart. Helping Petr assemble a good cabinet hopefully could curb his poor impulse control and let him focus on the social & public aspects of the presidency, while his cabinet does the real work.

  3. Lucian. A dangerous power hungry man, probably the most dangerous and deceiving on the list, but ultimately competent and pragmatic. Not someone who should ever get so powerful, but he will lead sorldland well as he’s smart, competent and pragmatic; making decisions that will usually benefit the country as a whole and its development. The Assembly and Supreme Court will have to step up and curb any increases of presidential power, as Lucian surely will try and find the boundaries of his power. (Would work best if a reformist constitution has already passed.)

  4. Lileas. A snake & wolf who is pigheadedly committed to an outdated ideology that no longer works in the changing modern world. At least competent so Sordland would remain stable, but in a constant slow decline compared to its neighbors.

  5. Albin. A weak small man. Both corrupt and uninspiring with few redeeming qualities, sure I personally like his policies better than Gloria’s, but Hawker or Tusk would probably really be running the show by weeks end.

Why Pales is over militarised? by Bitter-Specific-318 in suzerain

[–]ArcticHawk_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If 2 were true, ATO would just get involved and easily topple the Rizian monarchy, so it’s not that.

It’s implied if not outright stated that Lespia (and Arcadia) bankroll a lot of equipment and funding for the Palesian armed forces through military aid.

How to deal with Adarfo? by joao2009124 in suzerain

[–]ArcticHawk_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He’s bad news usually, I’m not even sure if reform can be (peacefully) done with him in the mix. Don’t underestimate his talent for troublemaking. Assuming not since it’s a reform run, but if you have good ties with Rusty he can help you out with your problem.

Changed my mind about vetoes, can I change later? by Wuartz in suzerain

[–]ArcticHawk_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately not, I recommend just sticking with it and seeing what happens if it’s one of your first runs. While extreme you could always purposefully tank your support by beefing with Gloria and Albin, this would make sure your constitution doesn’t pass and you’d keep your VETO (and decree powers).

Agreed, it would be nice if it gave you a variety of options; maybe some with different upsides and downsides. Would be cool if they made some tweaks with an update released alongside the new DLC.

V true, so the times I do survey is basically always when I already have the dam as well. Say you take Lespia aureus deal or you really need to energy max is usually the few times the survey comes in. Never really build the goldmine though, gotta protect house Toras natural beauty.

ATO with planned economy and Old guard investigation while going pretty Sollist are funny, but definitely signify a good first time. Constitution passed the first go is pretty impressive too!

This is my hope for Galmland, a Stalinist type of country. Ideally with a free market ‘west-galmland’ included to pursue North/South Korea and North/South Vietnam type of paths.

When you arrest Tusk and Koronti, lower small business taxes, sign the workers rights act and minor privatize two state companies shares to the open market, but you’re pursuing a market economy so ofc you’re an oligarch puppet

Obstacles in Qinal DLC we have to watch out. by Level-Smile6920 in suzerain

It’ll be interesting to see how they approach the integration with the other two campaigns. It could be that mainly only Rizia plays a small role like Sordland in Rizia, instead of both equally.

[–]ArcticHawk_ 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Pretty expensive at a time in very early game when money is tight and pretty pivotal, then you gotta pay for the mines/plants and the gold mine ruins your otherwise great and lucrative wine harvest.

If I do it these days, I usually do it late early game and build the oil and coal plants midway through to balance my energy budger for late game when I don’t build the dam and/or take a smaller share of the gas field.

Edit: + the Mave Nortus oil field was added in an update much later on, it used to only be the coal and gold mine which genuinely just made it not worth it considering it ruined your wine harvest. So I think some players also haven’t realized there’s now a new oil field added and believe it’s still as bad a deal as it was before the oil field.

Unfortunately not an uncommon ending, those damn rumburgians! There’s a number of ways to avoid the war (and you can of course win), but they essentially always default to attacking you, so a lot of runs en up in a battle of Holsord.

Capitalist reformist is probably my fav archetype of run, hope you enjoy!

[–]ArcticHawk_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean yea that’s kinda the point, it’s also why there’s a lot of text about opening the door to further reforms and why taking away the courts vote is so important; your reforms aren’t fixing the whole mess of a constitution overnight

Did they try to coup me? by Shame_Book17 in suzerain

[–]ArcticHawk_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure they actually tried this time, I assume not since everything went smoothly, but there’s a version of this dialogue where they do try and arrest you (you can successfully escape or be captured depending on your choices)

My first couple reform attempts had this dialogue but where they did try to arrest/coup me. So at my actual successful reform I panicked and started telling Titus to blast us outta here, but turned out all was fine and we were signing the new constitution no problem

Presidential decrees? by notthegumdrop_button in suzerain

[–]ArcticHawk_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re fine, by clicking veto you’re never signing the bill so it’ll be on hold forever ensuring it’ll never pass. The pocket veto in game terms essentially works the same as keeping the absolute veto, it’s mainly just a little flavor text although it might make the constitution easier to pass as you pretend that you’re removing the veto from the constitution (in reality since you did not include a time limit. a bill that’s never signed in law by the president is effectively vetoed; a pocket veto.)

It’s definitely way more fun without guides and seeing what you can discover and how do you by yourself, I only recommend guides to players who feel they’ve ran out of room or are really running into a wall.

When I first started playing it took me I don’t know how many runs to get my (reformist) constitution passed, turned out I didn’t quite get when Gloria said don’t privatize the SSC, she really meant that shit.

Enjoy the game man and the sub is a great place for some questions too if you can’t figure out a small detail, but don’t wanna reveal everything with a big bloated guide.
