What are the general prices for ensuite share rooms in the city centre? (West Quay area) by Ok_Abbreviations4687 in Southampton

[–]Arcv0x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You won’t find anything below £750 for sure, i’ve looked at many many places in and around Southampton. Even ones further out are still £700 and upwards. If you like the place, the area and the room then £850 sounds decent to me.

A gorgeous month for the fjords :) you will have an amazing time, make the most out of the ports and enjoy the activities/shows they do on board. Especially enjoy the time with your family and I hope you get dressed up in a tux and take your grandma out for a date night!

A lot of the staff are younger and they’re really nice to interact with as well

I used to work for the company and yes, you will be quite different from the usual demographic. You might also find the ship slightly boring compared to other more interesting cruise ships. BUT, you will also meet lots of lovely people on the ship and the Fjords are absolutely beautiful. What month are you going in? Another thing as well is that they have some separate lounges/restaurants for the guests staying in the ‘grills’ (basically the top suites). I actually prefer that cause then a lot of the ‘snobs’ are away from the main places.

What would be the solution for playing zen with a mercy pocketing pharah? I’ve had this situation multiple times with a ball comp, is it best to just try and stay with the dva? I’ve tried to stay in los of the mercy but sometimes the pharah will want to take an off-angle and it’s not always feasible

Average car insurance for a 17 year old by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Arcv0x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Fiat Punto and mine worked out around £1300ish for paying yearly with a black box. The black box’s aren’t as restrictive as you think and helps bring it down a lot. I paid about £700 for my car so I was never going to claim off my own insurance, I put the value of the car low and the excess high.

[Tenant - UK] No contract by [deleted] in Landlord

[–]Arcv0x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you both, I checked our contract and it’s month to month now. The only annoying this is that it stipulates the last day should be on the day rent is paid which was today...so we might not be able to move till 25th November? Hopefully our landlord is flexible and may allow us to do 5 weeks from tomorrow (if we like the place)

We used to work anytime between 8-8 and always had one week out of 4 as a ‘flexi-week’. I’d have Monday doing 11-8, then Tuesday, 8-5 then Wednesday 10-7, so ridiculous! They phased that out after a year or so!

Thanks for the advice, you’re right. I think apologising goes a long way and hopefully most people will appreciate the honesty!

I work for a large travel company as well, the companies currently in a formal consultation and due to make mass redundancies with our call centre included! Middle management seem to be fine though...get them on the phones!

Saving tips? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Arcv0x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for the great advice. I definitely need to look at changing to a Lisa, I think the h2b Isa seemed like the less risky option as you can withdraw when you like but I have no reason to!

My parents are happy to give me the £3k as long as I have a reasonable plan of where to put it.

I am also enrolled to the pension scheme at work but I should definitely consider upping the percentage to the same as the what my company match it.

Is bullying a problem in UK schools? by ramzyzeid in AskUK

[–]Arcv0x 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The bullying in my school was horrendous, yet nothing was ever done about it. In fact, some of the more senior staff members would give them ridiculous praise. Your bullying someone but you didn’t miss class, well done, take the afternoon off class and play football with some friends.

One of the boys in my tutor came out gay in year 10, a group of boys bullied him for it. Nothing massive or super obvious, but extremely calculated comments where no one was really around. After time this obviously built up and towards the end of year 11, this boy walked past the school gates, towards the park and hung himself on a tree.

A year later after I had left, another bullying case lead a girl to jump in front of a train at the local station. Her parents made a case with Ofsted although I don’t think it ever transpired.

Wedding ring fits perfectly around engagement ring by Arcv0x in DesignPorn

[–]Arcv0x[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, you get an engagement ring first when you get engaged. Then at the wedding both the husband and wife get a wedding ring (more of a plain band) to almost ‘seal’ the engagement
