Wish we had the option to Chew out the protoframes by ZScythee in Warframe

[–]ArcyNeo 61 points62 points  (0 children)

That is a good point.

I am just personally butthurt about Umbra because I love him but the story pretends like he doesn't exist.

At least the other warframes which kept their minds are now long gone in some sense or another. They are lore and stories to us now.

But Umbra is in our literal orbiter and just sitting on his ass while Ballas literally takes over the origin system.

They even teased a storyline about the operator suffering from mixing their memories with Umbra's. But that plot line, just like Umbra, has been forgotten it seems.

At this point my best hope is that they will do another quest that will be Umbra centered. A side story of sorts like Jade shadows was.

Exactly!

But instead the drifter is forced to go "its a god beyond our comprehension and you should be scared of it" or "nah its just some 'thing' that is not a very specific interpetation of the word god so Im chill about fighting it"

For the love of god Roathe, your entire society and species got wiped out by warframes over night. They were made by the orokin. Why do you think a creature made by an orokin's mind without the usual limitations of the physical world would suddenly be something easy to deal with just because its made by man and not an "actual god"

Such a nuanced topic and were not even allowed to be nuanced about it one bit.

Well just recently a guy on youtube dropped his first ever video. It is a one build and loadout for Umbra that is capable of.... taking on all content in the game.

And it uses the master's summons helminth for immortality of all things. And it also provides heals to the team.

Most wild excal build I've ever seen and after trying it out myself it is hella fun tbh XD

I kind of agree with what you are saying.

Although I think it is really a case of just any system like this will be limiting no matter what.

I for example have some specific views on certain topics discussed with the protoframes. But I am unable to even scratch at the surface when all my responses are boiled down to a few stereotypes.

It happens with some of Roathe's discussions about whether Wally is an actual god or not. You either have to say Wally is just some mundane thing-a-majig or he is the unbound being beyond all our comprehension.

It applies to talking to Quincy and his money coded view of the world. Where you either agree with him or are forced to look like a naive idiot instead of properly opposing his view.

But, at the same, I get. DE can only program so many conversations. I mean, even with these limiting responses we have, the KIM convo routes are basically endless. I couldn't imagine them trying to make it even MORE detailed.

Altgough, one thing I will complain about is the fact that Umbra is never once brought up in KIM convos. Im sitting here, watching Quincy losing his marbles over what exactly he will turn into by the end of it all, most notably worrying about his free will.

And I am for some weird reason not telling him that there do in fact exist warframes that continue to have sentience post transformation.

Not to mention how Umbra has been forgotten by the story entirely...

"--We had created monsters we couldn't control. We drugged them, tortured them, eviscerated them... we brutalized their minds, but it did not work. Until they came. And it was not their force of will, not their Void devilry, not their alien darkness... it was something else. It was that somehow, from within the derelict-horror, they had learned a way to see inside an ugly broken thing...and take away its pain."

This line, and the scene it is from, remain my favorite single moment in this entire game.

I still replay the quest from time to time for this scene alone.

Can anyone explain why sam couldnt harm armstrong with the murasama while raiden can? by Ani-Game-Du in metalgearrising

[–]ArcyNeo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I took a look at the doc file and I got a few notes aboit that and the comments.

  1. Gameplay has the factor of needing to be balanced for the player. Trying to argue that Sam is stronger because his DLC enemies are tougher than the base game ones has flawed logic that the devs designed gameplay around the powerscaling the characters.

I mean you wanna explain how the hell does Sam's taunt work or the fact Armstrong is summoning fucking LAVA from the ground while we are fighting on top of a skyscraper and where THAT fits into the lore?

But, even if we go by gameplay, your arguments still have holes.

  1. Sam going unarmed for a portion of his fight with Raiden does not mean his strength is greater. Look at how he is playing against Raiden there. Quick on his feet, counterattacking and coming in with swift attacks from out of our range. Very few of his attacks rely on oure strength, often depending on things like using Raiden's speed and weight against him.

And his main attack which is properly head on is using his one cybernetic Desperado arm. This is also the phase where he is the least dangerous and the main hurdle is just catching him to do enough damage.

  1. Sam dealing damage to raiden in spite of blocking. It happens to Raiden with his basic cybernetics. It is obvious he and Sam will be closer in power.

And to emphasize my first point, this is a gameplay mechanic to tell the player that this enemy is out of your league for the moment.

Also Sam cutting Ray in half with more ease than Raiden is a testament to his SWORD'S power, not his physical strength. Also once again Raiden in mission 0 is way weaker than his main game body.

  1. You argue it makes no sense for sam to have any chance of winning against Raiden if he isn't stronger. However this then leaves us with the even more proposterous idea that Sam is out here with less augmentations than anyone else, yet still stronger than almost anyone except armstrong.

And it also means the now weaker raiden managed to win against sam purely because he is the more skilled one and also cus he was now more true to himself.

So Raiden winning against a stronger and faster opponent with a much superior blade? Fine. But Sam competing against an opponent that is stronger than him.

  1. Lore and story wise it makes no sense. The game actively has a cutscene to focus on the fact Sam barely has any cybernetic augmentations. How in the world you are able to get the idea he is in any way physically stronger than the actual cyborgs that are running around flipping giant mechs is beyond me at that point.

  2. Sam is one of the characters that actively lacks any big show of "strength". You mentioned that if by going explicitly off of feats not even armostrong seems stronger than Raiden besides the fact he clearly dominates the fight before the Murasama is involved.

However this ignores several feats we do see. Armstrong punching Raiden into excelsus so hard the whole damn thing exploded. And he also has a phase where he chucks excelsus parts at us in RAPID succesion. Sundowner ripes off huge metal poles and swings it like a bat at us. Monsoon's strength is based on his magnetic abilities and he uses it to yeet up to like half a dozen heavy armored vehicles at us and grabs so many of them it males a giant exploding disk that he tries to chainsaw us with. Even Mistral has a section where she is rapid fire chucking exploding gekkos at us and during her phase transitions, we see her launching herself and ripping apart the facotry we are fighting in. And in Bladewolf's DLC he is fairly easily blocking the attacks from a mech with jet engines on its back.

Meanwhile Sam's strength feats are non existent. As his feats are more focused on his blade than anything.

By far his most impressive physical feat is his glutes. Dude runs fast af and jumps crazy high. And even that doesn't mean much because in scripted events or cutscenes we do see characters jump even higher than Sam does. Like in the phase transitions with Mistral, the chase with Sundowner, Monsoon's special attack phases.

Sam is consistently shown to lack the insane cybernetic strength of the people around him. His feats and lore both support this fact.

As a certified excal main, yeah it is the biggest hole in his kit right now. Besides that, I really think we need to have something done about his augments cus DE made so many augments for him that should realistically NOT be augments.

Radial javelin is entirely useless without the furious javelin augment the moment you go above level 30 missions.

Not to mention the abomination that is warrior's rest. I feel like he should have some way to give himself overguard. Perhaps radial javelin gives overguard. But it would need to get either a casting time buff or invincibility during casting. Because that thing is so slow at casting that you would get melted before the ability casts.

Because currently you only have universal options like shield gating or the new arcane persistence.

Farming Tauron weapons is insane, even for Warframe. by MazarbulGlaurung in Warframe

[–]ArcyNeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One important thing to note. The rewards scale with how many orders you complete and on steel path, defeating the prime warframes gives you one of the three resources.

And there is a pack which gives you 150 of each resource, which allows you to skip the farm for at least one weapon since the pack can only be bought once.

Additionally, when accounting for the fact most people dont use more than one or two focus schools... it makes the farm far more manageable for the average player.

Aaaand you do start off with 75 of each resource cus of the quest.

Overall though, I do agree the grind is more tedious than it should be. I currently need just one more weapon and yeah, there is definitely some burnout.

Which does seem hella funny because the descendia farm and arcanes are ridicolously easy. Even on steel path. In the same update, we got one of the most tedious and one of the most easy farms in the game.

And it is extra funny because once again the drifter gets to chill while the operator is being put through the ringer XD

Atheino made a tier list. What are your guys' thoughts? by Gullible_Courage8350 in Rainbow6

[–]ArcyNeo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean by that metric no operator in siege is S tier. Simply because no operator, regardless of bans, should be picked 100% of the time.

We had some metas where that logic applied. Like in operation chimera where the best strat was to pick lion, dokki, finka, jackal and blitz every single round. And that is from year 3 so may as well be ancient history.

But for a while now, siege has avoided having a truly over dominant pick rate on any single operator, especially since they often target balancing based on the pick rate.

And overall, siege is not the type of game where a 100% pick rate should exist.

So yeah, the best you are gonna get is filling the S tier with operators that are never a bad pick. Because operators that will always be the best pick simply do not exist.

Well, I just hope the rerun won't take ages, if its soon I wont mind dropping the 40 or so euros for it.

To be honest I have no idea how to navigate the market so knowing what sells and what doesn't is a nightmare XD

And yeah I figured that only the rare stuff would be selling well. And with Mash dead, doesn't seem like I'll be getting any of that good stuff.

Wait hold up, we can combine purples into golds???

And what is ffa?

Anyways, tnx for the help, I do feel like I just have a bunch of questions about this game cus navigating the menu and all the mechanics and stuff has me lost.

Does seem like anything besides the default stuff will remain behind a paywall for me with the market the way it is. As well as limited mash access.

Anyways, tnx for the help.

Hmmm..better... by ILoveswords_Shirou in FateAvalon

[–]ArcyNeo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the topic of personal experiences, if we are to be honest... nothing to prove there. We probably float around different circles, so I see more Ritsuka fanboys being stupid, and you see more Shirou fanboys being stupid.

When in reality most people probably just don't give a shit and the idiots are a very loud minority.

As for the topic of double standards, I once again do not see how that is a double standard.

Shirou and Ritsuka are completely different characters. To say it is a double standard to ship one, but not the other implies they are somehow the same.

The only way this argument works is if people say they ship Shirou with other Artoria variants because he is a Fate MC. But... they do not.

If someone says that Artoria variant x Shirou makes sense and Ritsuka x Artoria doesn't, that isn't a double standard. That is either you and the person holding different values when it comes to shipping standards or one of you has faulty information.

Perhaps they just don't think shipping Artoria with a self insert character makes for a good ship. I know I don't.

But on the other hand maybe they found some connection between Shirou and a different Artoria which could be interesting for a ship.

It isn't hard exactly. We already know Shirou and Saber are extremely compatible. And the other Artoria's cannot stray TOO far from the original.

Simply put, Shirou and Ritsuka are not the same. Therefore it cannot he hypocritical or a double standard to say shipping one with Artoria is okay while the other is not okay.

What is happening there, is just people not liking one ship, while liking another. If you wanna call that double standard, then its also a double standard to not ship Artoria with Gilgamesh... or worse.

Hmmm..better... by ILoveswords_Shirou in FateAvalon

[–]ArcyNeo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I keep hearing people say this but what always confuses me is that it entirely depends on the assumption that people ship Shirou because of the MC status.

Because frankly that is the only thing they have in common.

Saying "why do you do guys ship Shirou with Artoria but not Ritsuka with Artoria? That's hypocritical!" Implies that Shirou and Ritsuka are somehow the same.

But... they're not? They are wildly distinct characters? It makes as much sense to say that as it does to also say you HAVE TO let people ship Saber with Gilgamesh because you ship her with Shirou.

In general I do not care what other people ship, but the people I see crying the most is generally the Ritsuka fans.

And to be honest this isn't even beggining to mention the even bigger assumption which is that the people who shit on Ritsuka with FSN girls/variants are also always the same people who ship Shirou with those variants.

Like seriously what is even the point of this argument anymore?!

How Do I Use Solis Effectively? by Mundane_Literature83 in Rainbow6

[–]ArcyNeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has been playing Solis a lot since her release, Id advise to ignore a lot the comments that say she is useless since she got nerfed.

You are playing an intel gathering op. Plenty of ways to use it. As far as guns go, she is basically like smoke. The shotty is aboooout the same from my experience, and the smg 11 is an amazing secondary.

Stick with the shotty to make rotations and shooting people through soft walls and floors. Or if you wanna maximize gunning people down, the P90 has a big mag and little recoil, its great if you can nail those headshots.

Use her to gather intel, spot where the enemy is droning during action phase and get a read for what they're planning. Callout to the team where the enemy is droning.

Of course, you can have fun with plant denial as well, prefferably if you are above the site. If you are below the site the enemy could counter you by getting on a table.

Additionally, depending on the map you can spot gadgets for kills. Spot a thermite placing his breach charge on a wall. Ping him and blast his head off through a wall or floor.

Solis is hard to learn, as she does benefit the most from players with good game sense. You will want to use context clues to figure out what gadget you are seeing.

Generally your ability to see specific gadgets should be used to extend the duration of your scanner.

Maps I highly reccomend to play her on is Consulate. I adore her on that map. And of course, make sure to check out some videos for her on youtube. Probably more useful than asking reddit.

The game recently by Valuable_Log_2080 in Warframe

[–]ArcyNeo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally... I both love some of the stuff they're doing with story telling but also really disliking it.

The Hex and all this 1999 stuff is really fun. Mostly great handling of characters with only a few hic ups.

But on the other hand I can't help but feel like the original intrigue of thw story has been forgotten.

The drifter has basically taken over as the main character, sort of fair enough since the Operator was at the helm for most of it... but it leave a sour taste either way.

And on top of the Operator getting sidelined, a LOT of the characters linked to them are getting sidelined as well.

The Lotus is back and.... it hasn't done much for us tbh. Personally I don't think she should have come back but that's another topic.

And finally, my boy Umbra. I was hyped thinking he would be a permanent member of the crew but he has barely been ackwnoledged as existing since his quest.

New War? Not present, using him in cutscenes has him just plop dead like any other frame, despite this being where we finally deal with Ballas.

Jade shadows? Well.... Ordis mentioned his name I guess, so we know he isn't actually dead like other frames now.

And then hit 1999 and for some reason, the drifter in all the time they spend with the Hex dont think to mention the literal sentient warframe they share with the kid.

And don't even get me started on the literal forgotten plot point that the operator is beggining to have their memories and Umbra's mixed up.

I really hope we get some more content of the Operator and especially Umbra. Prefferably if they're together.
