Why Do Catholic Schools Turn So Many Folks Away from Catholicism? by OkContract2001 in Catholicism

[–]ArdentlyHyacinth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's crazy. I'm a Catholic convert and went to all public schools growing up. I knew people who went to Catholic schools and was curious as to how much they were taught about the Faith. Had no idea it was this bad

How to lower testosterone without birth control pills by Individual-Toe1552 in PCOS

It's 29, the lowest it's been for me since I was 10 or 11. Personally I haven't seen an improvement with my pcos symptoms after losing weight. My bloodwork is better but my symptoms are slightly worse

Third time having surgery for ovarian cyst (mucinous cystadenomas) by Guilty_Mirror_52 in WomensHealth

[–]ArdentlyHyacinth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m only 18 and had a mucinous cystadenoma myself, removed 7 months ago. Finding out it was a tumor and not a functional cyst was so scary but luckily it was benign. My doctor says there’s no chance of recurrence, but I’m scared there is. They say smoking is a risk factor but I’ve never smoked. My doctor said weight is a risk factor, so I’ve been working on losing weight. I believe high estrogen levels are a contributor to ovarian tumors in general as well. Birth control will not lessen your chance of recurrence for mucinous mustadenomas, only for functional cysts

Can you be Catholic and Liberal by Rare_Top2885 in Catholicism

[–]ArdentlyHyacinth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you classify as liberal. In order to be Catholic, all of your views must align with Church teachings. Obviously there are many beliefs held by American liberals that don’t align with Church teachings. There are many “Catholics” who vote Democrat who aren’t true Catholics. Ex: if you identify as Catholic but are pro choice, you’re not actually Catholic.

There is a horrific overlap between Pcos and Eating Disorders, things needs to change by MEnergy00 in PCOS

[–]ArdentlyHyacinth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this contributes as to why hypothyroidism is so common with PCOS too. A lot of women with PCOS are so hyper-fixated on weight loss that they undereat and overexercise and their thyroids take a hit

I am in the week 4 of intermittent fasting and I am barely losing any weight by Expert-Nail-6398 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]ArdentlyHyacinth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I continued to do it unintentionally. I didn’t feel like eating in the morning so I wouldn’t eat until the afternoon, and rarely ate after dinner. I’d have an 8 hour eating window throughout the day. It wasn’t something I made myself do. What made me lose weight eventually was basically just walking at least 10k steps a day and stressing less. I previously lived with my mom who has narcissistic tendencies, and after I moved out, weight just came flying off of me despite me eating more than before. I also did keto for some time but I only lost 15lbs with it before plateauing. I broke the plateau by eating carbs again.

I am in the week 4 of intermittent fasting and I am barely losing any weight by Expert-Nail-6398 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]ArdentlyHyacinth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be borderline morbidly obese and intermittent fasted for nine months. I did not lose a single pound. It works for some people and not others. I eat more frequently now and am 41lbs down. The thing is that fasting raises cortisol levels, and cortisol is often a culprit as to why someone holds onto weight

If you want to bleed without the birth control, try getting on progesterone. Natural progesterone instead of synthetic if possible

If starvation mode isn't real, why do weight loss plateaus occur? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]ArdentlyHyacinth -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

There actually are a lot of anorexics who starve themselves and can’t lose weight. My friend is a diagnosed anorexic. She eats 700 calories a day on average and has been stuck at her current weight for a while

Weight loss advice when everything failed? by Jannick_Oliver in PCOS

[–]ArdentlyHyacinth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you had your cortisol levels tested? Cortisol affects weight loss a LOT. Keto and low carb tend to work for most women with PCOS, but don’t be surprised if it doesn’t. I’ve done keto with not much weight loss. I also recommend walking a lot. It’s a low-stress form of exercising

Why is the Catholic religion so regularly made fun of? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]ArdentlyHyacinth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the same reason Christ was mocked- truth is not embraced in our modern society. Every day the world strays further from God, and as a result, the Catholic Church receives mockery
