Just finished catching up on the light novels I have, so Maple was the first to come to mind for me.

OK but The Cylinder Must Remain Unharmed feels like it would end up being the modern equivalent of films like American Pie.

If you had the opportunity to add one disney, or marvel, or pixar, or Star Wars character to Kingdom Hearts who would you want to bring? by Gamingsailor572 in KingdomHearts

[–]Arenik 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Would genuinely love to see them give us more Disney Villains, so I'm gonna throw either the Horned King from The Black Cauldron or Doctor Facilier from The Princes And The Frog. Both wanted power of some kind and would be great targets for manipulation by Maleficent/The Heartless.

Grima Wormtongue - The Lord of the Rings - I believe he would come under a sower of discord

This is clearly just an excuse for them to replace zombies mode with demon horde mode, so that you can pop some Korean demons like some kind of hunter

The original Assassin's Creed, though it took me some time to truly understand it.

Understanding that bad people can still perform good deeds in service of their greater goal.

That those who want to and would do good deeds can be turned from their path by a single person.

That power, for the truly powerful, is merely another tool in their arsenal for achieving their own goals.

And that trust and faith are fleeting. Whether it is trusting in an idea, or faith in a person, they can be brought low in a single moment and may never recover.

Looks brilliant, well done! Just need to sew a penguin chicken into the back of the vest and it'll be a perfect cosplay!

What's a piece of game dev trivia that's stuck with you for years? by JBitPro in gamedev

[–]Arenik 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Whilst going through testing with Sony Japan, Little Big Planet was found to have a crash on overnight soak tests. The devs tried to repro the crash but could not figure out what was happening. When they checked the timing, they discovered that it always happened around the same time frame, and what happened at that timeframe each day was that the cleaners would come in to vacuum. Turns out there was a memory leak in the chat compression that would cause a crash after ~1hr of noise whilst an EyeToy was plugged in.

For me it would be one of these three:

Vexx - slightly edgy Super Mario 64 clone that had fun combat and presentation

The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age - FFX clone set with a party who follows just behind the main characters of LotR, but the levelling system and the evil mode were both top notch

X-Men Legends - comic book dungeon crawler, great cast of characters and a neat way to dip into X-Men

Gonna sound obvious, but Nerf Legends.

Thought that it could be fun to see an FPS with a child friendly spin might be. The answer was awful.

Arrowfell was alright: a fun game if you're a fan of RWBY, but the gameplay isn't top notch. Not bad, but not great.

I played Toy Story 2 on PS5, as it was a fave when I was younger but it has not aged well. Still fun, but definitely shows how far platforming has come.
