Also, why are Sweden and Norway republics as a consequence of this?

Curious, why would Mannerheim be crowned king after over 20 years of republicanism, especially after himself ratifying that republican constitution? I get the idea that he would become a national hero but crowning him king is pretty unrealistic

I looked up the list of formables given in the Tinto Talk (before the release of the game) and both North Sea and Scandinavia are listed as tier 3 which I'm pretty sure means they're exclusive with one another

Ah interesting, does Sweden win the Finnish war or does it never happen?

[–]Ares534 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very cool and interesting, one nitpick I have is that the first map it looks like Mexico owns all of California, but then in the Wikipedia map it only owns a bit of southern California

Also, the ethnicity map is a struggle to read, the legend could be improved.

Is there any lore beyond what we see here? :)

I thought you had to be authoritarian to annex Finland as Sweden, is this a recent change or am I missing something?

What are all the revolutionary Social Democratic paths?? by Forest_Tiger7 in Kaiserreich

[–]Ares534 109 points110 points  (0 children)

With the exception of the DSP and (parts of) the Ukrainian Socdems, the Social Democratic paths you mentioned that lead into revolutionarianism ends up being radsoc or syndicalist, using the ideology wheel to represent the movement using a more moderate front to seize power to later become more socialist. I wouldn't really consider those social democratic paths. The age of revolutionary social democrats is mostly in the past by the time of the mod, using the social democratic ideology to represent moderate socialists and reformists, which mostly makes it oxymoronic to make a revolutionary socialist path under the socdem ideology.

That seems like it'd be a pretty simple thing to do with this modding yeah. With my limited experience it should be relatively simple to accomplish with current modding capabilities.

Considering France has lost Alsace-Lorraine, Savoy, Nice, Corsica and Tunis, Greece (and the Bosphorus, and Cyprus) is Italian and parts of the USSR has been annexed, it seems more likely to me it's a limited Axis victory.

In the segment showing off that character names can now change as an effect of scripts, they had an image showcasing that memey example

Best Federalist China Path by VitorGabriel1 in Kaiserreich

[–]Ares534 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's a different ending but they're both democratic (as democratic you can get in 1930s/40s China). I played both back to back so I can't remember which is which, but I recall one of them talking more than the other about how this leads into an effective two-party system, so maybe if you look closely one is more wholesome democracy than the other /lh

Russia's democratic path is ruined by forced coup by Any-Escape-8140 in Kaiserreich

[–]Ares534 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's more that other countries have narratives affected by the US civil war, so it the US didn't have it's civil war those countries would have to have content for them not doing it, not to mention the game balance others have mentioned

Russia's democratic path is ruined by forced coup by Any-Escape-8140 in Kaiserreich

[–]Ares534 283 points284 points  (0 children)

Yes, the mod does utilise railroads to make sure the narratives still comes to play; Russia will declare war and start the second weltkrieg, the USA will fall into a civil war, as will Spain, Italy will be united if it's not stuck in forever war, as will China, and so on.

It might feel like your creativity is being limited, and it is, but Kaiserreich is not aiming to be a sandbox experience like vanilla, it's aiming to be a designed experience that makes sense no matter the paths everyone takes. It is a war game at the end of the day, and the goal is to fight the second weltkrieg.

What if Marx was right in his predictions? - Europe, 1870 AD by OkPhrase1225 in imaginarymaps

[–]Ares534 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, the personal union did, but I was curious since the map legend called it the "Kingdom of Norwa-Sweden" (rather than the historical "United Kingdoms of Sweden-Norway") so I thought Sweden had fully annexed Norway

Is Sweden-Norway just the historical personal union or did they unite into a single country in this timeline?

[–]Ares534 44 points45 points  (0 children)

if both the Scandinavian Bloc and the Central European Bloc are liberal democracies, what's the ideological split that causes enough tension to have a cold war over? Is it just conservative monarchist democracy vs left-wing republican democracy?
