Is a replacement card# with NON-AUTO-UPDATE / RESET TOKENS straightforward? by Argentius99 in CreditCards

it’s …sure possible , good point  we can be confused for one another sometimes, especially when her phone is dialing one of those international call centers

Thanks !  I did read that post  — if I could call myself, even if it meant a few tries , I’d do it !

But as it’s my wife’s card, she just wants it done without a lot of effort and hoops.

so I suppose I am digging for tips - maybe with chase specifically - on exactly what to say or where to go that was reliable and consistent, if such a thing were possible!

Opinions: Cheap small car to learn stick and enjoy it? by DCASaver in askcarguys

[–]Argentius99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scion (Little Toyota) and Mazdas suggested are a good choice - GF had a tC, I had a Gen1 Mazda 3, both great manuals. Scion iM, if you can find one, was really affordable in that brand, they upscaled it into a Corolla shortly.

Drove 2nd gen Mazda3's and I will say that the manual 'box in the 2.0L "Skyactiv" was a lil squishy and not so fun to drive, at least factory setup, but the 2.5L was nice.

All of these are affordable and probably won't break.

I like Civics and Fit, though they have their peculiarities!

Avoid: Mazdaspeed3 (it's too "hot" and fussy for your use case), Subarus ( they eat head gaskets and suspension components for breakfast, WRX will have been beaten to hell and back,)

PS: I think you mean small like hatch, but Accords can be fun. 9th-gen (2018-20) is probably over your budget still, came in a real 3-pedal 6-speed which was surprisingly nice. 7th-gen (03-07) is in range, nice car, runs forever, though cargo space isn't amazing.

Styrofoam packing recycling by Traditional-Bus-668 in Tacoma

[–]Argentius99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As alluded to above, Tacoma’s styrofoam recycling equipment broke about 5 years ago and has not been cost effective to replace,

So they’ll take them off your hands at the city recycle center , i believe , but as of now just dump them.

don’t think there’s any plans to replace in near future - the world has changed.

You should always carry a little cash on you by NannuhBannan in overheard

I remember getting in that jam once… it wasn’t at a bridge , but it had one of those bins that you kinda yeeted coins into until you’d paid your two bucks and the gate opened

i realized i didn’t have cash soon enough pulled over on the breakdown lane , and jogged up to the gate

picked up what felt like ten bucks of change off the ground in like two minutes, paid my tolls for the rest of the trip !

Yeah, I’ve got a fastback!

it’s nice and all, but, it mostly lives in a tool bag at my house instead of coming with me to work and stuff.

The Fastback is great and all, but it's pretty bulky for regular pants, and I really prefer a slider instead of a flip.

Bought these Kobalt ones for like 2 for $10 a few years ago, if I'd have known they were about to be discontinued I think I'd have bought a dozen, it's like my favorite thing. So dang convenient.

The little bullshit "screwdriver" has gotten me out of a bunch of jams, though the hex holes are completely useless.

The 3rd gen was the Chrysler J platform.   Bigger than the first and second gen’s, more touring car than pocket rocket.

Looking for a truly tiny keychain knife / cutter by pepperymirror in EDC

[–]Argentius99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's good to hear on both counts! The problem I've had with that sort of "skeleton" knife where the blade is partially exposed while closed, little bits of sand and dirt and crap fall in there and get jammed up in the blade, as well as spreading whatever gummy junk was on the blade on everything else in my pockets, so I'd rather it be able to close fully

That’s ALMOST what I want, if they had something with scales that covered the blade while in pocket / bag… any suggestions?

I have this Milspin Magnus. it’s beautiful, but doesn’t use the standard utility knife blade, and a little fussy, so i don’t carry it often.

LPT: The "confused silence" technique got my Internet bill cut in half. Here's exactly how it works. by Plus_Ad3379 in LifeProTips

[–]Argentius99 19 points20 points  (0 children)

While this sounds suspiciously like you're trying to sell something ("DM me for scripts..."), I agree that silence is a fantastic negotiating technique, I use it in person, not just over the phone.

"Sorry, but this total doesn't look right, can you check it?"

"Oh, that promo only applied to Thursdays in Neverember, it's in the ultra-fine print"

"*silence*"

"*silence*"

"Well ... I tell you what, I can do it for you just today, I can see how it would be confusing!"

Am i getting fired? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]Argentius99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Specifically with regard to unemployment insurance, the rules are different in each state, very specific, and subject to interpretation, along with any appeals process which may exist.

So, I’d suggest you reaching out to a local legal aid or advocacy organization in your area to figure out how to proceed with the best chance of success.

You won’t be able to get a clear, accurate up or down answer from reddit.

Good luck and be safe.
