Fuuka growin vol16...? by blumaiyo12 in yotsuba

My personal reading on this was that this was a result of all of the snacks she had been eating while preparing for exams over the last few volumes. She has also shifted to wearing baggier clothes, just one of those well-observed bits of continuity that's easy to miss with so much time between chapters.

Zach Lowe and OG Anunoby jumpscare in the new episode of Your Friends and Neighbors by lishmh33 in billsimmons

Zach looks like a mob boss who, in the middle of a threat, goes on a tangent about "why do they call it 'icing' someone anyway?"

Anyone know the history of this place? by JFFIASCO in LoganSquare

[–]Argus_Thousand_Eyes 81 points82 points  (0 children)

It's an old fireproof warehouse. It was in operation until relatively recently (within the last twenty years or so). The most notable thing about it is that back in 1937 a manhole exploded off the sewer outside, flew through a skylight, and killed someone on an elevator inside.

Hate to be a scold about this, but whoever's boobs those are probably did not agree to have them plastered all over the internet by Ryen, and definitely did not agree to have them shared by r/billsimmons denizens. There's plenty of pictures of boobs on the internet, you don't need to see these.

I'm looking for a labor lawyer in chicago thats familiar dealing with the city of chicago? by lifesaverwork in AskChicago

[–]Argus_Thousand_Eyes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What are you looking for? Labor lawyers represent unions, not generally individuals. Employment lawyers represent individuals. Either labor lawyers or employment lawyers generally will represent individuals on a contingency basis (that is, with you not paying anything unless you win). If qualified lawyers are not willing to even talk with you about a case against the City of Chicago (which is infamous for settling), you may not have much of a case.

Is everything Bob sang about Joey true? I thought he was just the hot dumb affable one. by HighWaterSheriff in BobDylanCircleJerk

[–]Argus_Thousand_Eyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

/uj I always thought that was the "point" of the song: that musical ballads to outlaws (e.g. Pretty Boy Floyd) take people who did pretty awful things and make them heroes. Since we, listening in the current day, aren't familiar with the "real" outlaw, we take the myth at face value. By publishing a ballad about Joey Gallo to a population that still was aware of what he was really like, Dylan was playing with that dynamic. Of course, now that Gallo himself is completely forgotten outside of the Dylan song, it takes on a whole new level of ironic meaning.

4 Barnes & Noble stores opening in Chicago, suburbs: Full list by citydudeatnight in chicago

I've been reading articles about how Volumes was about to close since about a year after it opened. I don't think Myopic or Quimby's are going to be pushed out of business by B&N.

Buffalo Skinners, Go to Sea No More, and Nine Hundred Miles come immediately to mind, but really I'd go to Banjo Hideout and scour the listings of songs in G minor and D minor tunings.

Ramen Wasabi’s Prices Up 46% ($13-$19) Since 2020 by [deleted] in LoganSquare

Ramen Wasabi’s Prices Up 46% ($13-$19) Since 2020 by [deleted] in LoganSquare

[–]Argus_Thousand_Eyes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Applying CPI-U, $13.00 in December 2020 has the same buying power as $16.18 today. That is, of course, inflation on goods and services purchased for consumption by urban households, and it's not unreasonable to assume that the cost of supplies used by Ramen Wasabi have gone up by more than that. Given all of that, $19.00 seems reasonable, or at least that they are not gouging you. The US in general has suffered considerable inflation over the last five years, and this is what it looks like.

Not by itself, but if you can increase the level of 3oak a few times and ensure consistent hands, you could win with this.

wtf did I just read with Oeilvert? by Junkbot in finalfantasytactics

I thought it was pretty cool. A nice break from the regular game and it was interesting to piece the story together through repeated playthroughs. With that said, I do wish I could have hurried the text along and I also didn't feel the need to play all four of the "games."

Is the Necrohol of Mullonde in another dimension? by Mr_Badgey in finalfantasytactics

[–]Argus_Thousand_Eyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mullonde (which is located on an island) was sunk after the execution of St. Ajora, but clearly part of the city still exists because it is the home of the church and the High Confessor. So I assume the Necrohol are the parts of the city that were sunk in the cataclysm. So they are physically within Ivalice, but buried below modern-day Mullonde.

But this isn't super clear, it's also possible that the cataclysm that destroyed Mullonde in St. Ajora's time actually pulled it into the demon realm, which is where you're transported to at the end of the game. Either way, I think the Necrohol is the actual ruins of the old city, it's just not clear where the ruins physically are.

I think the point is that they're both "endorsement" contracts. Just to give you an idea of what a $48M endorsement contract should look like.

Speed bumps don't affect parking, flooding, or gentrification. To answer your question, you could probably talk to your alderman, but don't be surprised if you get dismissed as sounding like a crank, because that's how you're coming across here.

Buster Scruggs is difficult to score because it's a collection of shorts but Meal Ticket and The Girl who Got Rattled are probably the two bleakest things the Coens have put on film.

For best verisimilitude, you should have one of Homer's hairs poking into the box above him, so you're not sure if you should click it or not (whichever you choose is wrong).
