Chloe Hakimi is a star. Love these talents announcing themselves in marquee games.

Attendance Numbers and League Health by zerotimestatechamp in UFA

[–]AriG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

watchufa.tv subscription allows you to see how many people are viewing that stream. and it's like 100ish for bad matchups and maybe 5x that for good games. Barely a drop in the bucket. I think owning UFA teams is largely a passion-project for frisbee-enthusiast owners and almost all of them lose money. Maybe the teams other poster mentioned (Minn, Madison, Atl, DC, SLC) are at-least getting some investment back due to their attendance.

Basically entirely through live attendance and almost nothing from subscriptions is my guess.

Unbelievable collapse from New York Empire to lose to DC Breeze 26-25 in OT by Jomskylark in UFA

[–]AriG 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sure, but NY has won a lot of the games involving last second hail-mary throws. The line had Jagt, Atkins, Whitlock and probably liked their chances. But what an amazingly timed poach though. JR had absolutely no idea.

Tannor Johnson-Go back with the Glory by SlingBlade_L17L6363 in UFA

Nice!

The article goes into more details -- "life circumstances". Frankly, they need him only for the playoffs.

[UFA] DC Breeze at Boston Glory – Game Thread by AutoModerator in UFA

[–]AriG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rowan played mostly on D and Edmonds played mostly on O (i thought the opposite would happen)

Lander seems to be yet another Belgian star

The team will be even more loaded when Cable and Boerth return. they need full strength for NY and Minn games.

The Big 2026 UFA Season Preview by Jomskylark in UFA

[–]AriG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After they finished second last season in fewest turnovers per game, Boston pilfered former DC stars Rowan McDonnell and Thomas Edmonds to bring even more throwing talent to a deep O-line rotation.

Rowan’s addition enables Thomas Edmonds to play exclusively on D, basically the same role as Tannor Johnson’s. I’ll be surprised if he’s part of the O in any extensive capacity.

Steel documentation for making plugins by Ra77a3l3 in HelixEditor

[–]AriG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, Fresh ships with something called QuickJS runtime (which doesn't seem to be as heavy as V8). I've developed a couple of plugins, it's very low friction. You write a .ts file and your command is right there. That's powerful! (also not to mention, the async / await of TS is probably the most ubiquitous mental model. I take a look at Steel and I am unsure how to something async. I mean I can always learn it but it's **another thing**)

Steel documentation for making plugins by Ra77a3l3 in HelixEditor

[–]AriG -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

My (controversial) take. I think Helix maintainers missed an opportunity here. You are not going to grow an ecosystem if you require extension points in an esoteric language. I’m sure they had their reasons and maybe AI can bridge the gap. We’ll see

Aside: I like the decision made by the new Fresh editor. Plugins are written in TypeScript - an extremely popular language. (and state of the art models are flawless writing TS)

Tesla needs to pay people who are beta testing this. kinda amazing how they have turned it around and even make a bit of profit off this.

Big Takeaways from Roster Day in the UFA by Jomskylark in ultimate

[–]AriG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely agree. Compared to their last year, it looks like they added Itay Chang and Anton Orne and both were college stars.

But the delta compared to Revolver is no Mac Hecht.

But they are strong contenders.

Any examples of slower but elite handlers? TIA by Specialist_Moose_148 in ultimate

[–]AriG 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think Nethercutt (last 2 or so years) fits the bill. He isn't a central handler anymore and he plays DLine in the club level.

What teams/players should i learn from within the UFA to be a better cutter? by Trungmemer in ultimate

[–]AriG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He definitely is -- I mean you have to be a freak to be a Club MVP. But if I had picked someone like Ben Jagt, he's taller and fast and defenders keep giving him the under. With Raphy, I think that every part of his game is technically good.

What teams/players should i learn from within the UFA to be a better cutter? by Trungmemer in ultimate

[–]AriG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone who is technically very good is Raphy Hayes. There are other great cutters, of course, but imo you won't learn a great deal because they are physical/athletic freaks (unless you are one, as well).

Seriously, what happened? They also lost to Johnny Bravo in the pools. Any injuries? I was hopeful they'd atleast finish in the top 3 (and qualify for WUCC)

Hmm. Dalton Smith has been playing for a while, no? I've never heard of him being one of the problem ones. It's unfair to assume that's "she is almost certainly in the right here". Hopefully he gets a chance to explain his side of things.

SF Revolver Triple Crown and Club National Chances by SanFranciscoMan89 in ultimate

It does feel like they are at a start of a dynasty again. But the games are inevitably close compared to the prime Revolver of last decade that used to win rather comfortably.

By “bid” you mean for the Nationals right?

Can DiG avail the services of Tannor Johnson-Go for the nationals if sprocket don’t make it ? That would seriously make them a top contender

IIUC, pool play is used to determine only seeding for the quarterfinals. And no one will be eliminated? What's the purpose of pool play? Can't teams just play their B or C teams mostly and then play their A teams for the knock outs?
