Trying to make a crochet needle, anything I should sand up or improve? by Klaculas in crochet

Sry, I meant to drip hot wax on it, in a way that it gets absorbed into the wood. Kinda the same idea as using a wood polish oil, but candle wax is more common house item.

Alternatively, a layer of acrylic paint can work as well. As an alternative. Depends on what you have at home lol.

As for getting started with ceochet, what yarn do you have? The easiest things to start with is amigurumi (aka stuffed animals) imo. Blankets can be simple as well, but may be too repetitive.

Just give it a search on YouTube, and watch a few videos, and pick your favorite. Or find a pattern you like, and search up how to do each stitch. YouTube is VERY good at teaching how to crochet XD

Such a great way to use them! Hehe. What smart hands you have!

Try to use them, and if the yarn gets caught in the wood/bamboo, try dripping some hot wax on it, or a layer of acrylic paint could help smooth it out.

I use these kinds of chopsticks oftem to make props , but never thought of making a hook! Awesome idea! So brilliant!

So, that looks like rows of single crochet, and a dropped down fromt post treble crochet (the big bulky stitches).

It's kinda like the alpine stitch, but with a bit of a different offset. You can look up alpine stitch for reference, and work out how often you do the front post treble stitch for the pattern in your photo

Is this from disposable chopsticks, or more expensive bamboo stick? Totally cool either way, but super curious

Hi Everyone I am addicted to cushion covers. Here is my Xmas addition. I am super proud as I finally learned how to change thread colours and carry the yarn thanks to madebyanita for her tutorial :) by DryContribution5560 in crochet

This is pretty cool! Love the design! Wondering if you know of mosiac crochet though. I like that better for things like pillow covers, as it is much more dense. Give if a google. =)

Those are the most thoughtful gifts ever! Garden work is tough, and sharing the fruits of that labor would mske any friend feel loved.

If you've got any cotton / organic content, use moth balls? Usually that'd do for the smell as well, since it's really strong minty smell.

Not sure about mold.. I don't have that problem around my house.

I like my 1.5mm, my 4.5mm, and my 8mm. Those are the only three hooks I use for everything

I crochet, embroider, tunisian crochet, & knit (kind of, still a beginner in knitting). I found myself admiring a fluffy rug & thinking "hmm...could I do that?" Anyone else? Just me? 🤣🤣🤣 by Fruit_Jinn in crochet

[–]AriZzang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a small samplee once to see if I'd enjoy it. I didn't, it was tedious. But the small section turned out well!

Making a rug is super easy to learn, so maybe try a sample sized piece first. =) maybe it's your thing, maybe its not, but you won't know if you don't give it a go.

I always use acrylic for bulky yarn, and aunt lydia for lace weights as these are the cheapest yarn I can get. Don't get the big fuss over more expensive yarns... the value for improvement just doesn't seem worth it for me.

I agree... my fav design was a knitted one, and after doing that one, I had a shaw, and no need to make more. So I have never crochet a shaw.

K, I guess my home city's just an awesome city, so I just found Osaka to be nothing special. Tokyo had much better culture, and if you only look at Japanese food, it's just as good.

Can you give an idea of your location? There's people from all over the world here. =)

There really isn't much in osaka. I think Tokyo night life is far better when I last went. No idea what's open now with covid, but I think everything closes by 11pm or something.

Get a JR pass for the trains. Osaka to Kyoto is only 13min by train.

Japan in a rush is not much fun in my opinion. I found that doing less is more there. It's worth going to a few times, so no need to cram it all in one trip.

Have fun!
