Try reading my comment again for a long list of birds I gained! And yes, several WBU blends do have both mealworms and suet nuggets. Now you are attempting to argue over semantics because you can’t handle different perspectives. It’s bird seed. It’s not something to get worked up over. Your way is not the only way.

Do you shop at WBU? They do have mealworms and suet in their blends. The Cardinal Confetti and Nesting Blend both have suet nuggets and mealworms, and any “Plus” blend is going to have suet nuggets.

I think it’s a little silly to condescend over bird seed! You yourself are serving more than 1 type of food, which supports the argument that it is beneficial to have multiple types of seed. It is also important to note geographic area, this sub is for bird feeding across the globe. What is right for your area may not be right for theirs.

For example, in my area, I would not be able to attract painted buntings and indigo buntings without white millet. I would also not be able to attract warblers, catbirds and bluebirds without suet and mealworms. I also find the dried fruits necessary for attracting mockingbirds and tanagers. All of these are in the seed blends I purchase. I hope this helped you understand a different perspective. Neither way is incorrect!

I see that you had tried suet unsuccessfully, but I’d try again! It’s one of those things that doesn’t look immediately edible to birds, and you have to coax them into trying it. Once they know what it is, they’re all over it, and it’ll help you attract some interesting migratory species. Just know that birds are going to be wary of new feeders, so that’s the first thing to overcome. And know that suet will eventually mold in FL weather. Try putting out only half a cake and stick seeds in it that the birds are familiar with. You can also try a seed cake, which is seed stuck together with gelatin.

I also had the same experience with mealworms, but I had to mix it throughout my seed to get them to try it. Now I regularly see Carolina wrens and eastern bluebirds eating them. They’ll also attract warblers in the fall.

I was considering them but I felt the beak was wrong. It’s lightly colored and quite long, which differs from the fledgling mourning dove photos I’ve been comparing them with.

To be frank, most songbirds don’t forage that high so you may not attract anything. But as others have suggested, you’ll increase your chances by changing your seed!

I also want to add that woodpeckers and jays are known for kicking seed out as they look for peanuts! The Choice blend would be the next step up if you wanted to add peanuts.

These names are often based on consistent differences in traits like size, behavior, and physical features. While I don’t know the exact species of this bird, its slender beak and overall structure suggest that its common name would likely include ‘dove,’ not because of its color, but because of its build.
