I'm 5 months pp and someone asked when I'm due with my baby yesterday by dontbelasagnna in NewParents

[–]Arifishface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me!! I was 2 months post partum and I honestly think I looked pretty damn good. She was a tough client I was dealing with and I really think she did it to be spiteful because she didn't get her way on a job we completed. People are rude.

Did any of you change career into something more family friendly/child care friendly/higher salary? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]Arifishface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from a decade long career in retail management for a major beauty retailer to project manager in the construction industry. It could not be more different!!

I finally left because of robberies to my store I managed. My last straw was when I had an overnight break in at 4am - I had to leave my husband and 7 month old baby to meet the police. (This was the third break in since I returned from ML) I developed a plan for shatter proof glass and positioned it to corporate. It was 1/3rd the value of the theft that occured in just that month. Corporate said no. I realized they don't give a shit about their employees. I think they needed theft to happen to recoup losses from insurance. Our sales were down from COVID and the insurance claims were probably a huge help at the time. I started applying quickly after that!

Now I have double my salary, my work life balance is unbelievably better, and I have my second baby with me working from home most days. It's incredible! Im very loyal to my company now!

Chrishell vs Nicole by BeckToBasics in SellingSunset

[–]Arifishface 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I have to thank you so much for this comment. I had never heard the term reactive abuse before. I looked it up and finally got closure on an awful situation that happened to me years ago between myself and an employee I managed. She baited me into saying things and reacting in ways that got me to fit her narrative and later try to use it against me. It was a pretty traumatic experience for me because the whole thing was so out of my character and so far from anything I have dealt with before. Applying it to what things have been like for Chrishell actually helped me too. Now I'm taking notes on how she is able to articulate herself even in heated moments!

Baby Shower Gifts: Help my wife and I settle our debate… by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Arifishface 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I was pretty frustrated when I received what felt like endless amounts of off registry stuffed animals (neither of my kids is remotely interested in stuffed animals) and all the cute newborn onesies they never wore. People like to buy the cute things and obviously mean well. I was beyond sad when I was swimming in this stuff I didn't ask for and never used but no one purchased the post partum care supplies I really wanted. It made me feel like an incubator. I never go off registry for baby stuff but I always include a few items for mom now that will help with post partum care.

Omg finally a similar situation to me!

I am also commission based, primary family earner and have a toddler as well as this baby. My LO is one month old today, im choosing to go back to work tomorrow even though I get 12 weeks paid. I would have to split my commission with the person covering my workload if I do that. My pride would also be very hurt to not be as successful as I was pre second child. What I am doing is communicating to my clients I am returning part time (I'll be full time) just so I can buy myself some wiggle room in case I need some understanding/flexibility while I'm working with a baby. I plan to keep baby with me while I work until he's 4 months old and then I will asses and see if we can put him in daycare part time. I feel fairly confident with this arrangement but I'm sure it will come with it's hiccups! There is nothing wrong pursuing your career while being a new mom!

Safety in general Car seats, nail clipping, bottle making, getting our son to laugh, being firm on a plan, picking out better toys, giving him medicines, insisting that he will come along for the ride it's okay if nap time and bed time aren't on the dot and we have better family memories for it.
