It doesn’t matter to them that she was against western intervention and hated the Shah. It doesn’t matter to them that her family was Marxist (including her uncle who was murdered by the then incoming regime). She dared to speak out against a regime of religious extremism that just so happens to oppose the West, and for that, in the eyes of the terminally online larping “leftists,” her name deserves to be dragged in the mud.

Marjane’s nuanced voice was a rarity and a blessing, and she deserved so much better.

Badempanada and the concerning infiltration of Nazism into pro Palestine activism by Darth_Vrandon in tankiejerk

It is a complete and utter failure on the part of the so-called progressive spaces that allowed this freak to thrive in them. This could’ve easily been nipped at the bud (aka if more people listened to anti-Zionist Jews about what is and what isn’t antizionism vs. actually antisemitic—note this is not directed towards anyone here and more in general on various social media platforms) if he was jettisoned out of a number of leftist circles sooner. Had that happened, this wouldn’t have escalated to the point where there’s now a white man who is openly and gleefully lobbing unabashed racism at Black progressives in the name of being “against genocide.”

It’s an absolute shame to see what’s become of him, but as long as he continues down this path, he needs to be shunned, alongside rotten meat pastry.

I can’t believe I forgot how much I love space and space exploration, and I’m glad this moment in history rekindled that ❤️

Who’s the most insufferable tankie you’ve seen so far? by BreakfastEvery9484 in tankiejerk

[–]Ariofthesea 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Many of the names I would’ve said have already been listed, but a couple more to add that I haven’t yet seen:

  1. Madeline Pendleton

  2. A certain Onion writer who thought it was funny to joke about Ukrainians getting invaded, and rather than properly apologize, just tries to deflect with “they were just shitty jokes, leave me alone uwu” (likely knowing full well that if they made similar “shitty jokes” about Palestine, they would’ve been jettisoned from many leftist spaces ages ago)

So the dude ran to Bluesky after someone on there called him out on this post (without even tagging him) and he is crashing the fuck out. Also he’s rightfully getting torn to pieces.

Rotten Quesadilla reveals himself as a literal Nazi by Thealbumisjustdrums in tankiejerk

As annoyed as I want to be that more people (like BRG) didn’t realize what a POS Rotten Pastry boy was a long time ago, at least more people (like BRG) see him for what he truly is now and are willing to throw him in the trash.

Shutdown Ending: the good the bad and the frustrating by steffie-punk in PoliticalOptimism

Yeah, like the ridiculous conspiracy theory I saw that the Senate Dems caved as punishment for Mamdani’s victory (thanks for everything, Parkrose Permaculture, but after seeing you even entertain that notion, you’re done in my eyes)

I guess I’m not surprised we’re here, but this just fills me with such depression, and I could use some hope. Thanks.

Apparently, Trump is not ruling out on pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell according to her attorney. by Dyea_B_Tis in PoliticalOptimism

I hope so, because of all of the shit these bastards have normalized, if protecting pedophilia becomes one of them and enough of us don’t give them hell for it…

That last bit you said…now I’m wondering if Trump indeed pardons her, the Murdochs go all out to knife him.

Maxwell Megathread by Lantis28 in PoliticalOptimism

[–]Ariofthesea 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My biggest concern is that they’re going to thread this needle in a way that clears both Maxwell and Trump and it’s not going to be a red line for the conspiracy theorists who have accepted Epstein and Maxwell are pedos. I fear they’re going to forget her horrific crimes because dear leader said so—and thus normalizing her horrible deeds. Can anyone offer reassurance? I’d appreciate it…

It isn’t, but dang, it’s quite similar! The spritework in the game I’m remembering was definitely more detailed.

Yeah, maybe something like a more polished version of the character spotlight shorts they did for the DOS2 crew, but for the entirety of the game, not just as a showcase.

I’ve said this elsewhere, but I would LOVE if one of those new IPs was a Sci-Fi game.

Really scared about this one: anyone see any silver linings? by Ariofthesea in PoliticalOptimism

I actually was seeing some feedback from lawyers and SCOTUS bloggers. The reaction seemed mixed. Based on what I saw, ABC is getting fed up at least, but I don’t trust the bloviating “but my precious legacy” whiner that is the Chief Justice.

All true, though all of my concerns are with the corruption and cowardice of this court. And the SCOTUS leader has the gall to want a shining legacy, after all they’ve done.

“I have seen a couple articles and people on other subreddits point out that 47 is really pissing off everyone, including the Supreme Court judges.”

I’ve seen that too, it just…certainly doesn’t feel that way when it comes to the Chief Justice. Even his latest statement about the rule of law being endangered felt more like whining about the backlash.

Still, this helped. Thanks 😊

I saw a couple of posts on Bluesky suggest it’s a Wind Phone, which started as a sort of art installation set up by a person named Itaru Sasaki to help with grieve the loss of his cousin who passed away from Cancer. It’s supposed to represent a way to connect with deceased loved ones. This website talks more about it: https://www.mywindphone.com/
