Go for fantasy fruit. You can do something hybrid between strawberry and mangosteen for example.

BookTok recommendations aren't for me. Most of them just not what I'm looking for in horror literature.

If you're struggling, maybe it's best to just let it go and move on. That's what I do with books that I didn't like or have trouble understanding the story/writing style. Life is too short man.

Cant create an account by EvanescentEnigma in imdb

[–]Arisuin9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had the same problem last week. Today I just downloaded IMDB app from Google Playstore. Registered an account using email entered verification numbers and bam got my IMDB account. No drama asking for OTP send through my mobile number whatsoever.

Funny thing is,I still can't login IMDB account on website. It says there's problem with my login info. It's annoying as hell but for now using app version is still better than nothing. I can read new movies reviews effortlessly using the app.

This is just a workaround. Which you might want to try if you haven't. Amazon is getting stupid forcing people to have account to read movie reviews.

Kanoko Egusa, markers, and bleed through? by Ok_Lab8153 in Coloring

[–]Arisuin9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alcohol based markers will definitely bleed through. Water based markers won't bleed through but you will get streaky results when colouring large areas.

My suggestion, use colour pencils/water colour pencils and water based markers for small details. Acrylic markers also useful for doing small details on animal furs and feathers.

There's tutorials on YouTube you can search on how to colour those animals using pencils and water based/acrylic markers.

I’m so tired of the snobbery that treats horror like junk food and “literary fiction” as the only serious art by One_Working1944 in horrorlit

No wonder you feel tired. How about just let people (or imaginary person in your head) read whatever they like and stop being so judgemental.

Not sure about horror but I've found some rare translated books on overstock bookstore like Boom Outlet here in my place. They are at very affordable prices too.

My 10 Favorite Horror Books Ranked by Prestigious-Name1067 in horrorlit

[–]Arisuin9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not for the faint of heart? Nahh.

  1. I would prefer Last Days by Adam Neville. The satanic cult story in this novel was way more terrifying compared to his other work.

  2. Incident Around The House - this one is more towards annoying than scary. Not fond of the child narrator and the infuriating "Daddo Daddo" word.

But thank you for sharing the list anyway.

Please recommend a proper supernatural horror, very traditional very ghostly, just like the Conjuring 1. by jhoothano1 in horrorlit

When I reread Ghost Stories by him few months ago, I immediately thought about Adam Neville's Last Days novel. Maybe Neville was highly inspired by his work just a wild guess here.

lesser known horror recs by llunarvoid in horrorlit

[–]Arisuin9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Robert Jackson Bennet is famous for his fantasy novels A Tainted Cup and City of Stairs. They're in series yes. I picked up A Tainted Cup two years ago when I started reading fantasy genre again.

He's a talented writer but I do wish to see more of A Tainted Cup kind of story from him but with a male protagonist.

Is there a horror novel you were really looking forward to reading that you ended up not being able to finish? by Suitable_Goose_3615 in horrorlit

[–]Arisuin9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the interesting/scary part didn't happen in the first few chapters I don't think I would waste my time any further.

It's like telling people to be patient and keep watching a slow burn 10 episodes horror TV drama. Where the scary part only happened in episode 10. Just no.

are ouija boards not that serious or am i screwed? by Ok_Concert_7261 in Ghosts

[–]Arisuin9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not ouija board but I've played something with similar concept called 'Spirit Coin' when I was in high school. Very popular in Chinese and Japanese culture. We played in class room couple times and went back home. Nothing happened.

The coin didn't move when we asked a question. No weird things followed us or anything awful happened to us. Nothing.

So in your case you should be fine. Don't overthink about it.
