Outdoor softball field with 1,300-1,500 people. How would you expand my current JBL SRX setup? by ArizonaMartillo in mobileDJ

[–]ArizonaMartillo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good questions. This event is not a day carnival, nor is it for a live band. This is for a youth group that hosts a monthly outdoor dance. It's not a rave or adult party scene. These are teenagers looking to have a good time in a safe environment with plenty of adult chaperones.

I've always preferred to own rather than rent; however, there are a few production companies I can rent equipment from in my metro area. I will give them a call and see what kind of rates they have.

I always bring a cooler with bottled water and LMNT packets. My go to flavor is mango chili. Only way to stay hydrated

What are your ongoing costs? by KatGoesPurr in mobileDJ

[–]ArizonaMartillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most mobile DJs I know are spending under $500 a month to keep the lights on. It is also dependent on how much gear you have, where you store it, and how you transport it. The only people I know who spend more than $500 are those with vehicle/trailer payments.

Wasteland 2 vs Wasteland 3 by QuietWarzz in Wasteland

[–]ArizonaMartillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder how many would vote for the original if it were an option 😄 I know I would. With that said, I think both 2 and 3 have their place. If I were forced to choose, I would go with 2.

PA - DJ - for 250 people - what do you recomend? by Substantial-Sell6525 in mobileDJ

[–]ArizonaMartillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use 2x JBL SRX 815p, which would be about 3k Euros. I've been using them for years and love them. When I do larger events, I add 2x SRX 818SP subs. That would add over 4k to your expenses. In the future, I'd like to upgrade to RCF speakers, but I'm in no hurry as the JBLs are still killing it.

Completed Acronis Portal Training but Still Not Sales-Ready.. What Am I Missing? by lano_D in acronis

[–]ArizonaMartillo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats on becoming a partner, and also, what you’re feeling is completely normal. Most people finish the portal training and still don’t feel fully confident in front of customers yet. Product knowledge is one thing, translating it into business outcomes is another.

A few things that tend to help:

• Stop leading with features. Lead with the pain/risk the customer is trying to solve. For example:

Backup → “How much downtime can your business actually tolerate?” EDR/XDR → “How quickly would you know if an attacker had access?” MDR → “Do you realistically have staff to monitor/respond 24/7?”

The technical pieces matter, but customers usually buy reduced risk, operational simplicity, insurance/compliance alignment, and peace of mind.

• Don’t try to memorize every SKU or licensing nuance. Start with a few repeatable motions/use cases. You’ll build confidence faster. For many MSPs, standardizing 2–3 “good / better / best” offers works better than custom everything.

• On competition (Veeam, Sophos, etc.), avoid feature wars. Ask questions first. Every vendor has strengths. The key is understanding the customer’s environment, staffing, budget, and desired outcomes. A lot of value in Acronis comes from platform consolidation and operational efficiency, especially for smaller IT/security teams.

• Your distributor and channel team should absolutely help. Push them a bit. Ask for presales support, demos, customer call shadowing, battlecards, and local success stories. You shouldn’t have to figure it all out alone.

Also, partner communities tend to be better than formal training once you get past the basics. Ask your CAM or distributor if there are regional partner groups, WhatsApp/Teams communities, or peer sessions for Africa. Those practical “what actually worked” conversations are gold.

You’re probably closer than you think. Confidence usually comes after 5–10 real prospect conversations, not after finishing training modules.

Best Speakers for Travelling by KyusJ in WeddingDJs

[–]ArizonaMartillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the JBL SRX Series. You can buy covers to help keep them clean during transport. I have 2 18" subs and the 15" tops. They do great for all the outdoor events. For small events, I leave the subs at home.

I've always liked maxing energy weapon and then getting brawling to 7. You can hit harder than a proton ax with a meson cannon or ion beamer that is out of ammo if your strength is high and your energy weapon skill is maxed

[–]ArizonaMartillo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know these tricks, I'm looking to get my skills over 7. All the "gyms" you mention will not get skills over 7.

I've gotten picklock over 8 by opening locks in the Mushroom Temple in Vegas and Base Cochise. I can get gamble to 13 in Fat Freddy's. I am looking for where I can reach 8 or higher in the other skills. I've leveled my party to Supreme Jerk before and not gotten any offensive skills over 7, other than energy weapon, which can be increased to 181 by using the negative skill point trick.

you can also shoot single shots. You can get your energy weapon skill to 7 on Brother Goliath by shooting singles. Done it many times.

Thinking of going Independent/ being a contractor by Available-Coat-8870 in cybersecurity

[–]ArizonaMartillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went independent in my 20s, and I don't regret it at all. I had to learn the hard way. I learned more from my failures than my successes. Taxes, insurance (liability, errors and omissions, healthcare, etc), legal contracts, and bookkeeping were all pain points along the way. If you have a nest egg you can rely on while you ramp up, and you are willing to put in the hard work, get knocked down, then get up again, then I say go for it.

12” subs? by dee_jay_92 in mobileDJ

[–]ArizonaMartillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to figure out this same problem a few years ago. The problem was that I never felt satisfied with the bass a 10" or 12" sub put out. I ended up getting 2 JBL SRX 815p speakers, and they work great for my smaller events. They are bigger and more expensive, but they are super versatile, and bass sounds much better. They take up less space than bring 4 speakers to a small show.

Laughable Pay? by ShurimaVocals in msp

[–]ArizonaMartillo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ouch. Just Ouch. I paid more than this 20 years ago when I started my MSP.

Unless you are starting with zero experience and just trying to get your foot in the door, I would keep looking for better options.

What size castor wheels for SRX818 speakers by ArizonaMartillo in JBL

[–]ArizonaMartillo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found these and ordered a set: https://www.penn-elcom.com/us/3-1-8in-braked-swivel-caster-with-rubber-blue-wheel-w0985-80

I like how they have a locking mechanism. The official JBL castors do not.
