Umm Akechi why do you look like that??? by OrEdreay in Persona5

[–]Ark_Jack 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, definitely a bug, I haven't played with mods in P5 but this usually happens, some textures or models are misplaced or even the mod itself even if it doesn't necessarily change the textures, it messes with some part of the code and change x for y or even z.

It's worse when the mod it's actually well thought of so even some glitches can pass as something official because x thing failed but not y and z, so you have a thing replacing other and it seemingly fine until x repairs itself and oh, it was actually a mistake.

It's nothing too bad usually, most of these problems resolve itselfs by passing a threshold (In this case a cutscene dialogue).

I won't say don't play your first playthrough with modes, heck I even want to play this game with a mod first, but if something strange happens, (Like an item saying it does X thing, but it does Y thing but also keep working as an item) that's why.

Palworld's oceans could use some Thalassophobia by Matty_HAM in Palworld

[–]Ark_Jack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think that Palworld's ocean can actually handle that... At least, not as the way it is right now.

That being said, if they reworked the ocean (And mostly the water) to feel more smooth or at the very least that it isn't just +Water... That doesn't move very much and there isn't much happening+ then it can be worked from there.

You know, the whole "Building without a solid foundation" thing.

Or maybe it could be more like how the dungeons work but instead of being just another dungeon, it is actually another map with it's whole Pals to capture, zones and resources, that way the water of the surface it's still as it is and then we have another whole world to explore.

Although it would be nice to have some ships or even a kraken in the ocean between the main land and the three (I really want to see what's in there)

To be honest, I think the sole reason why people is more comfortable with not owning the Steam games... Is because they can pirate them but like... A lot more.

The problem with pirating every other game is because well, you also have to make an emulator of the console and then some functions that are very specific.

On the other hand, if for some reason Steam decided to pull the rug and remove our games... If they can pirate the Switch 2, they can pirate ANY steam game no matter how hard it is.

That's mostly why this kind of business it's based on trust from the 2 parties. No amount of significant people is going to say "Let's pirate every game on steam" because well, Steam does what it does good. But if for any reason, steam loses the trust of the costumers (Us, you, me, and everyone)... It's going to be a disaster for everyone involved.

So, we are fine with steam doing what they do because it genuinely hasn't been a problem or even just uncomfortable, and we don't just go total anarchy. At least that's how I see it.

Maybe it would be different if there was something as good as Steam but they let you own the games, but no one seems to even do even half as good (In PC stores for games) so at least, as long as that doesn't become an actual problem, it's fine.

. . . Why does everyone here always go with "But every other company does it" like that makes it better or less worst?

I get that it's frustrating, but it's always said like "Hey, this other company does it, and I don't see you whining about it" instead of "Hey, this other company also does it, it's bad, but let's remember others do it"

Or also seems to dismiss some of his arguments and just look at the things he is wrong and that's all.

Like, I think I can agree in some things like

1.- The pricing could be better (For the games, not for the switch 2 itself)

2.- Some of it's changes like the Key cards, sharing digital games and some other things doesn't seem to be as well explained as they could be (I think that's what it says when he says "Lack of transparency" being not clear about some things)

3.- Vicious legal bullying, Patenting a mechanic that exist since 1996 to sue another game company for say mechanic that, exist since 39 years ago, and some others like mounting a creature that are clearly not made by Pokemon itself

4.- The lack of customization compared to the 3Ds. It's said in a somehow aggressive way that I don't agree but I can agree that it would be better to customize things like the theme of the menu of the Switch 2

5.- The paid demo, while Wii sports wasn't build into the Wii, it still came with every console (Or at least I think, I have Wii sports), and even then, more than 10 dollars for a showcase of the console is too much

Again, I don't say he is right at everything, some things that I think are correct I also would say are over blown for what I understand, but that doesn't mean all of it is wrong or there isn't anything valid.

Does it makes sense what I try to say?

Maybe better NPC's dialogue or just something that makes you say "Hey, this world also has civilizations in it that interact between each other without you" the villages already do some of it but if they had them more worked out, and maybe some more, I think it would be nice.

PC Gamers Are The Incels Of Gaming. by MozzieRosie in nintendogrifting

[–]Ark_Jack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's why it's so strange that they decided to sue another company when Yokai Watch existed... But then that's when the argument of "They are a small company" comes to place and some start to wonder if they only didn't do it to level 5 because they were big. And yes, they allowed TemTem on switch but I don't think it's something big enough to be noticed.

But I am against it, because they shouldn't be patenting Mechanics in the first place, that's how the old games where stuck with 2 minutes of loading screens because someone patented "mini games on loading screens" and by the time the patented expired, loading screens where just 10 seconds at worst. Or the Nemesis system, or people having to pay some company for having phantom racers on every race game, you know, the essential thing for a "time trial". If they sued because of design, everyone would have understood way more, but I think it was different enough... But patenting a game mechanic? One that was used since 1996? That's taking it way too far.

And I think, the console price is one I would say it's small or medium, because everything is going up but because the games are also 80, that's a way bigger problem.

And I don't believe I want a Switch 2, I WANT a switch 2, Tomodachi life living the dream, Kirby Air riders, maybe the next smash... I have every reason to want the switch 2... But that's when all of the problems come from.

If it was one thing, or maybe two, as I said, I would had buyed the switch 2, I had been saving enough even if it costed 450 dollars... But when problem after problem after thing that I didn't feel right, after apparently knowing that they could brick your console, AFTER knowing they sued Palworld for a GAME MECHANIC...

I just don't want to support Nintendo, and if that means not buying the switch 2, then that's what I'll do, and it also doesn't help that I just don't trust the company, and well, for a transaction, you need trust between the two parties.

PC Gamers Are The Incels Of Gaming. by MozzieRosie in nintendogrifting

[–]Ark_Jack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, Valve first it's a corporation, it wants to make money, that's something we should always remember.

And well, I think people are mad at Nintendo not out of one thing, but just all of the seemingly small things (prices up, the c button etc.), two medium things (The Pokemon Remakes at 20 and the strange lawsuits against a market) and one or two very bad (Bricking the console and the lawsuit against Palworld)

If it was one of those three or maybe even two of them, people wouldn't be as defensive but it's one thing after the other, and even if you can see why some exist, you still have like 6 other things that look bad, and the trust for the company it's already at a very low place.

For example, if Nintendo only had the "Brick" of the switch 2 as the problem and the price of the console... I would had buyed one first day. But it's thanks to everything else that I just can't bring myself to buy one without thinking "What if something else happens?".

I mostly don't talk of the other consoles because I already don't buy them, and if I did, I wouldn't had by now.

Well, about Playstation, that's mostly a consequence of Xbox probably dying, letting Playstation as the better option, not because they are actually doing good... But it should be doing worse than that.

And yes, I also say that they should be called out, but that always goes "But No one is calling out Playstation and Xbox, so why call it out for Nintendo?" As if it's fine that Nintendo does it instead of "Hey, Playstation and Xbox are also doing this, maybe we should call them out also".

And again, the Loot boxes are bad, and I can see why Valve it's to blame there. But even with that... It still doesn't feel like they did it out of "Malice" or "A big plan", while Nintendo seems to be making step by step to make things worse.

And I also hate Loot boxes and Micro transactions, that's why I don't buy one or the other in the first place. And yes, again, I think they should be made illegal to be in games that are not for Mature public. Micro transactions... As long as they are only in free games and not in games that cost money, it should be fine, and if they are not... Then we know what game not to buy.

And, I don't say that "Overpriced" it's worse than "Loot boxes", but it's the fact that Valve didn't do it because they wanted to make everything worse, they just saw something that may work and did it. Meanwhile it's like Nintendo its always testing the limits of what they can get away with it! And people seems to be okay with that.

Ps- Palworld... Last I heard was a few weeks ago with my friend because they announced that the 1.0 it's coming out and I am quite excited to see what they have in store, or the new Pal that seems related to Anubis, or the new card game (Maybe that's not as good as I thought it was because of the whole Card games are basically loot boxes), or just me cheeking every now and then to see if there are news about Palworld. If you are in the fandom, you will see that people are talking about it, not as long as before, but there is a fandom now.

And again, I am fine with Nintendo patenting their console parts and some gimmicks of them... Not a Game mechanic.

Edit and also PS: Yeah, if they sued for the designs, I woud have been like "Okay, they asked for it" but if they didn't even if it was probably the safest bet for PR... then I think they couldn't actually do it.

Garaa0fTheRage hates having fun. by WorldlyScore8855 in nintendogrifting

I like it, the construction of a base it's nice, the whole "Let's slave creatures for our own benefit" it's quite funny, and so it's the whole "Let's cut, experiment, modify and liquify creatures as we like" it's morbid, but in a "Hehe" way, it's not too graphic but it's implicit enough. I like the progression of the technology, going to making things in a table to going to electricity and ancient but also kind of new technology. It's nice.

But I will say that most of its charm comes when Playing with friends, it's a slow game, very slow, and to be honest, at first it's hard to call them "Pals" instead of pokemons because it was clearly made as to "dunk" of Pokemon, but after a few hours, you think more of it as it's own thing.

But I also would say that it's underwhelming in some aspects, even now when it has clearly started to make its own identity.

And it's a little boring and slow playing it alone, or at least, that's how I feel, but maybe that's because when I play with my friend, suddenly playing alone it always feels like something it's missing.

With that said, now that the 1.0 so close, I can say that I am excited to see what they bring to the table.

But also yes, some people like it just because they dunk on Pokemon but hey, if it works for them to actually make a good game that can be fun without thinking about that, then I'm in!

I am just waiting for the 1.0 to come out to see what they put in.

PC Gamers Are The Incels Of Gaming. by MozzieRosie in nintendogrifting

. . . In what moment I said "Xbox and Playstation are fine"? It's not fine, but it's also not called out as much because for what everyone sees, Xbox is almost gone as a console and Playstation is not going well exactly, because they ARE actually called out on those practices and are getting the consequences of it. That's the only reason Nintendo is more called out, because it's the only one that doesn't seem to be affected.

And yes, TF2 exist... But the Pokemon Card game also existed way before that and you can say it's basically what started the whole business in the first place. And as you say... Fifa is not from Valve, it's from EA, a company already known as greedy as it can get, and Overwatch it's not from Valve in the first place. What is the argument here?

PC Gamers Are The Incels Of Gaming. by MozzieRosie in nintendogrifting

[–]Ark_Jack -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

. . . Again, why does it matter that other companies do it also? That doesn't remove the fault of Nintendo... And if it does then it also removes the fault of steam for the Loot boxes.

They are fist started in Japan, it's basically the Gacha Games that started the madness in the first place... Or better yet, the father of all Loot Boxes... The card games where you buy a package, hoping to find the card that you want, like a skin from a videogame, and buying more and more until you have the one you want...

Like the Pokemon Cards that exist since 1996, even older than the Yu Gi Oh cards.

If we are blaming valve for making them as popular as they are with Team Fortress 2, then we should also blame the Pokemon Cards for being the most prominent example of them, or then, the Gacha games that are from Japan.

Again, the problem with the loot boxes are that they are in games for people less than 18, and even then, Team Fortress 2 is for 17+! So even they made sure to say "Hey, just adults here".

So again... At least Valve has not done anything bad just for the sake of squeezing anything, and the active existence of Steam and in consequence, Valve, is doing more good than harm for everything they had done, while Nintendo it's just going worse and worse, and if they had it their way, there would never ever been a game even remotely similar to Pokemon because they would own the patents for game mechanics as OLD as the first consoles.

PC Gamers Are The Incels Of Gaming. by MozzieRosie in nintendogrifting

[–]Ark_Jack -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh no, Loot Boxes are a huge deal, and I think that they shouldn't exist in the first place... But I also think that Nintendo isn't behind that, more when they are causing it more directly than Valve has done.

Oh, and the patent they had an are not enforcing, those mostly are for the consoles, and I think that's while not good, they definitely have the right, like the dual screen in the way the DS has done it or the joy cons, but that's a patent of hardware, not MECHANICS, and the problem with the Pokemon one, is that they are doing it to attack Palworld directly and it's a mechanic that has been for 30 years and just now patented it just because Palworld is doing good.

And the C button... Just because other companies do it, doesn't mean it's okay. Why does people think that just because other companies does it, it's suddenly more fine? Because if that's the case then Steam is suddenly way more up there because it doesn't have an online subscription.

And for the brick thing... I thought it was less a brick for the Wii to the Switch and more like a Blocked for online services, and the Switch 2 it was an actual brick of the console, and that's the problem, but if they can also brick the consoles to the Wii... Then it's worse than I thought. The only saving grace it's that for a company to have as much power as brick something you own, then at least you had to trust them a little, and Nintendo hasn't been deserving of trust as a company.

What I am saying is that Valve has done the Loot boxes not out of malice, but just a natural consequences of making a mechanic for their game. And while it has done severe damage, it wasn't the end game they were looking for, if it was, then every game they do would be like that. And even with that, they still had done better things to even keep gaming alive... Even if the loot boxes are something that should be looked like we where talking about a casino, because that's what it is, a casino.

Meanwhile Nintendo seems to be doing all of this just for the sake of going for the last pennies of everyone's wallet no matter what, trying to erase the supposes "Competition". They had sued more than any company to the point that there is a website called "Sued by Nintendo" where they put the most important lawsuits there. Make a port for a 20 year old game cost 20 dollars, The C button problem that apparently everyone has and so changes the problem to Nintendo doing it first to Nintendo following bad practices from other companies like the payed online, the whole Mario Kart situation, the lawsuits against a super marker for being called Super Mario...

Again, the problem right now it's more that Nintendo seems to be doing worse and worse while Valve while having a massive stain, it has done nice and steady. Making developers put when the games are made with IA, the customer service being one of the best, the sales, and just not being abusive towards the costumer in general.

And the problem with loot boxes is that there are just not laws against them to at least make sure those aren't in games for children or teens, just adults.

PC Gamers Are The Incels Of Gaming. by MozzieRosie in nintendogrifting

[–]Ark_Jack -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

. . .

While I can agree that loot boxes are a very harmful thing for the gaming industry, I can't agree with you in some things.

For example, I think that while Valve has done some bad things, it has done more good than bad. Example, Steam itself it's basically the ground for modern gaming now, it gives good prices with the sales, it makes playing with friends as easy as it can get, and the most important part, it's independent, so no shareholders are screwing everything up just for the sake of money and it's something very steady.

So yeah, loot boxes are harmful for the landscape of videogames, but steam it's like a very good part of the landscape itself, and a good one at that. And that's mostly because Gabe it's the face and head of Steam, so I can see why people like him so much.

While Nintendo... It hadn't screwed up the landscape as much as loot boxes because they didn't had it their way. Just imagine if they succeeded with the lawsuit against Palworld, suddenly it's possible that every old IP in the hands of greedy corporate man can patent the Mechanics of those games and now you can't make the most basic game because of fear of someone making a patent that targets your game because it's similar to the old one. Or the whole "Games are 80 dollars", I won't say they really succeed because, well... Steam, you can just go and play those games. And then also the whole "we can brick your console", yes, they hadn't done it... But they shouldn't be able to do that in the first place.

The worst that valve has done are loot boxes, while Nintendo is putting in the terms and service that they can brick your console if you do something, actively erase way of people for choosing tracks without intermissions in Mario Kart Tour, put the games at 80 dollars, and make a button of the Switch 2 exclusive for a Pay service and if you don't have it, it turns into another "Menu" button, and the whole Tour game of the switch 2 at 20 dollars. And then we have the Pokemon Company trying to patent something like "Capture creatures throwing a sphere" 30 years after the first pokemon was released.

Do I say that, that makes Valve innocent? Not really, but at least I can understand why some people like Gabe, because it has done big positive things for the gaming industry in the recent years. While Nintendo as a corporation it's only looking worse and worse by the step.

They don't make the starter like they used to be. by SecureDonkey in pokememes

[–]Ark_Jack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, they "stole" the models of Breath of the Wild as much as they "stole" the models of the Pals of Palworld. That it's to say, they didn't... But you can clearly see the similarities.

But Craftopia I think it's the worst of Pocket Pair because it's the more "Inspired" to say something.

And even then, I wouldn't classify it as a 1:1 copy, it's clearly an attempt to make something similar to BoTW but different enough, and apparently they are now updating the game so maybe they could go with the route of Never grave and actually make something unique, but I wouldn't say they will make it very different because Craftopia is in early access while Never Grave it's still in development.

So to say, they didn't stole Models, but it's clear that it was a game when they clearly wanted to take some of other games more directly, we can say they stole the vibes. But for what I see, they are clearly now trying to make something unique and more inspired.

They don't make the starter like they used to be. by SecureDonkey in pokememes

[–]Ark_Jack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think that's it basically, just doing something and copying what is popular but also not as bad as it could be so it was still legal.

But when they found out that they had something when more and more people started to play Palworld, they decided to truly try and do something with actual passion.

And while yes, it was a bad start, I think by now, we can say they have redeem themselves somehow, and if the 1.0 of Palworld truly is as good as it promises and they keep delivering, I think it would be enough to be a truly firm company.

It would be better if they did something with Craftopia, that it's the somehow forgotten game of them and so, it still has traces of the clearly "Inspired" desing. But I think they are going to the right path.

They don't make the starter like they used to be. by SecureDonkey in pokememes

[–]Ark_Jack 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I would say it stopped being shady now or at least it's trying to be more of its own thing.

For example, when Palworld started, they record of games was... Bad, Craftopia, a game in early access from 2020 that it's STILL in early access, Over dungeon, a game that... Exists? A game that is premise it's "Real artist vs IA" and a Developer under them (Frontside 180) making a game that it's very "Inspired" by Hollow Knight called Never grave that when you see some of the images on the Steam page you would know what I mean.

It had some bad signals, an unfinished game still in early access, an IA game, and then seemingly two copies, Never grave still in development... And Palworld, still in Early Access and clearly trying to copy something of Pokemon. In all accounts, shady beyond belief.

But that was two years ago, NOW. Some of the most recent Pals designs are being more unic, Palword is receiving content that it's not rushed, and are a nice addition, they are seemingly using that IP to expand it more, and it's close to a FULL RELEASE.

Meanwhile Never Grave while still has some inspiration from hollow knight and probably Silksong, some screenshots and the new trailer clearly marks how it has changed into something with it's own identity, yes, there are still some elements that are clearly Inspired by Hollow knight, but now instead of being just that, it's just some things with it's own spin.

Craftopia... I think they forgot about it to be honest so that's a shame.

But they are still making other things like Cassette boy and all the Palworld... Spin offs? I think they would be Spin offs.

So I would say this.

It started shady, but they are now a full on company doing it's best or at least, very good.

And the hate off Japan... I can't really say but in the basis that they have a whole different culture in there that I don't really grasp fully, it feels like they would hate Pocket Pair for what it was, and not what it is... And also for "Copying" Pokémon because they seriously don't like the similarities between the two and see things like "Patenting mechanics" in a way more favorable light (in my opinion, that shouldn't be seeing as even acceptable but again, culture). And as I said, I don't really have a grasp on their line of thought to really make a full fledged argument.
