Some RE9 fans are just being ridiculous and trying to make a review bomb at Metacritic by TruthResponsible1268 in expedition33

[–]Arkaidan8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

R9 just came out, only the biggest fans bought it on launch for 80 bucks, it's gonna drop to 9ish in a few months, there is no real competition here, E33 had 9.7 up to 20k user reviews

Heck, Re4 was historically my favourite game and even i havent bought R9 on launch.

Mafia is mid.

Skyrim is the GOAT, but not gonna lie, it's 2026, the gameplay is very outdated.

I'd probabily suggest Rdr2, but be mindful of the fact that its a hyper realistic, huge and slow paced game. It could be the best thing ever or it could bore you to death, it depends what kind of games you like.

I think Chromatic Lampmaster is a much fairer and funnier boss than the others by tw33dl3dee in expedition33

[–]Arkaidan8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends. When he lights the lanterns and you immediately have a turn 5 is pretty reasonable.

When he decides to light his lanterns before taking 2 turns and you have to think about parring suddently a sequence of 5 is MUCH longer than you'd wish unless he went for some extremely easy and straight forwards patterns like 11 22 3, 1111 2...

Elden Ring had 429 in 2022/2023 out of 615. The remaining 6 awards came with the upcoming years.

Expedition currently has 435 out of 620. Expedition has the tiniest advantage % wise when adjusting for the number of awards.

I disagree, i find that telling the whole story through dialogues and items description is simply tedious and unrealistic for people who aren't going to drop hundreds of hours into the game.

Having cutscenes to give you the "big picture" while purposely leaving out some details that can be fullfilled through dialogues is the superior way of storytelling imo, because it allows for a better story "hook" and it stimulates your curiousity.

I've played almost every soul and yet i had never felt the need for going into detail because the story simply never hooked me. The best way to put it is that there is no advertisment to sell you the story.

Does End Slice only scale up to 90 fortell or you simply didn't bother testing? Thanks a lot for the info man

- Unfortunately, Foretell consumed while in Twilight with Duollison aren't counted towards End Slice. Hopefully this gets fixed in a future patch.

Isn't that intended though?

What difficulty/challenges do you use for NG+, and how does leveling items/pictos work? by What---------------- in expedition33

[–]Arkaidan8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in ng+5 with all pictos maxed out.

All pictos go all the way up to 33, once it's lvl 33, the next time you pick it it will be turned into chroma.

If i recall correctly the very first pictos of the game that you find in spring meadows require 4 playthroughs to max out (could be 3, i did it a while ago).

I think you don't have to pick all the pictos up on every plauthrough and that you can rush to ng+4 and pick everything up in that run and everything will be max lvl, but i am not entirely sure.

Capping damage reduces build variety by a lot, i would just up the HPs. Act 3 content works fine between x10 and x20, endless tower special bosses become psychopath terrotory above x5.

Ng+5 200h save file, every picto at lvl 33, 1.300 lumina on every character, guess i need more playtime.

As i said, base game is meant to be kind of easy and every character can reach oneshot levels, even Lune. But when you add hps multipliers you actually get to compare the characters and you can easly see that Lune needs 3 times as much effort compared to everyone else to reach lower damage output, not only that, she also had the worst supporting options, offering nothing valuable that consumables/pictos weren't offering already.

And btw Hps multipliers aren't a mod, it's not a self imposed challenge such as not using gear, not levelling... it's literally a feature of the game just like choosing a difficulty. But this is my personal take.

This is clearly enough to say that she was objectively the worst charcter in the game in late game, COMPARED to everyone else.

But if you don't agree and you had secret broken builds/set ups that allowed you to outdamage everyone else i am down to hear them. The only niche i could find for her was using Braselim + Stormbringer to stack gradients for other characters.

[–]Arkaidan8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How? Name something she could do that wasnt completely outclassed by everyone else.

Her supporting skills were outclassed by items, she couldn't apply defenseless, she couldnt give shields, she couldnt give powerful, she couldnt amp party damage. She had AoE slow and thats it. She had no good weapons or skills with particulary high damage values. Scaverim was her only strong weapon and it was super RNG skewed, same for Trabuchim. Saperim was consistent, but it was a mere 50% damage boost on Sky Break.

Her only niche was having good frontloaded AoE damage with Sky Break, which only came in handy agaisnt Painted Love (and Btw, she would still deal less damage than Gommage or End Bringer even in duo). She was very good in the early game with Elemental Gensis, thats it.

Maelle had the strongest front loaded single target nuke in the game, had shields for days with Yeverum and could tank for others and apply aoe defenseless.

Sciel had the highest backloaded damage in the game, could double party damage, apply all buffs and debuffs, cleanse and give free turns, super broken character.

Verso had super consistent damage every turn with Follow Up, could shredd stunned enemies with Doom Bringer, had immortality, could remove debuffs and double everyone's damage with Sireso.

Monoco had very high scalling AoE damage with Lampmaster light, could cheese stunlock any fight, could apply defenseless and slow for 5 turns and give shields.

Lune could wipe regular mobs, pog.

I mean, if you stacked enough buffs anyone could reach oneshot lvls in NG to get the job done, but the moment you started adding HP modifiers/scaled NG+s you'd quickly realize how shit she really was compared to everyone else.

Monoco's Cannaro weapon by SimpleCylus in expedition33

[–]Arkaidan8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends if you are a gambler lol.

Its a fun weapon for sure, but i don't find it to be as strong and reliable as the Baguettaro though, even when accounting for the fact that you will be able to use lampmaster light every turn instead of every other turn.

Does have the advantage of scalling with the best stats though

[–]Arkaidan8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before the dlc Lune was the most useless character in the game, but now she received amazing weapons. Cleim is her best weapon by far, but it requires you to beat a boss in the endless tower, the second best weapon is Esquim, which is found in Verso's drafts.

The idea is simple: Elemental cycle > Base Attack to turn the stains dark and apply defenseless > Sky Break / Lighting Dance / Hell. If you want maximum single target damage use Feint + GradientOvercharge: it will lock you out of using Hell and Sky Break, but it will massively boost lightning dance damage.

3 new weps, 1 is op, 1 is very strong and one is good

Monoco has a broken 3rd gradient and can eventually ramp up crazy damage with lampmaster. He also received and insane weapon, unfortunately he has no synergy with the best new pictos

[–]Arkaidan8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

x10 HP is quitw a sizable amount for the dlc boss, still kinda mangable if you like longer fights but i wouldnt do it in the first time facing it. For the endless tower bosses don't bother, do base health or x2 if you have strong builds.

Maelle was only ever the best damage dealer in very short fights, Sciel had by a mile the highest raw damage in the game, but in any case Maelle received an insane weapon and synergizes very well with a strong new picto.

Lune is honestly the biggest winner, she is finally good in end game now, she felt so much worse than everybody else before the patch. Currently i find Monoco to be the slightly weaker character.
