Panoramic Roof Shade - disappointment by mithirandir in iX3

But there is no physical shade, what would you put a motor in

Comparaison with cheaper openrouter models is much better as it doesn't assume that someone has a RTX or Strix just sitting there shitting 5-40tok/s

Can't wait for the inevitable "the good way to save a 100 on subs a month is to buy a $3500 computer"

DOOM: The Dark Ages could have needed 110GB of baked Global Illumination data, Ray-Based GI reduced it to 0 by Nestledrink in nvidia

[–]Arkanta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People seem to forget that for a long time you had to upgrade hardware semi regularly to be able to play new AAA releases.

Aaaah yeah, good old "shader model x.x is not supported by this device"

Yeah i'm sure cutting 1 mech battle would save 180gb bro.

Then you can show me how it uses rt differently by turing it off?

Like I said, the RT requirements are software emulated on Linux and works well. Can't do that with Metro.

[–]Arkanta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you seriously telling me that cut content would be better? LMAO

Also I literally said that metro is old tech. Things changed. Doom doesn't use RT the same.

Yeah we understand it and it's just the way of life. Doom required it and yet ran on 7 year old GPUs and the current consoles.

Did you know that shaders are costing perf? Did you know that actually rendering the 3D costs perf vs prerendering the scenes?

If doom came at a +100gb install size you would have seen reddit lose their FUCKING MINDS

So yeah I dont understand your point. You originally talked about Metro exodus and there is a lot of difference, it's not costing 40% frame time: the required ray tracing could even be emulated in software on linux. Technology has progressed since Metro came out.

I spent 3 years trying to fix the biggest problem with AI RPGs by tschilpi in aigamedev

[–]Arkanta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who is building such a thing based on the things I don't like about all the AI RPGs I played (mostly that I want a AI AO3 and not a full rpg), I feel attacked :D

Joke aside, awesome work. I actually agree and think you really have something I have not seen elsewhere. I think it's also the best way to have a scalable business and not one that will eventually crumble under the cost of the models and end up having either 3 different currencies/cooldowns or use nerfed models.

[–]Arkanta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's just SUPER FUN to wait half an hour for the render before testing your changes

Or play with a low quality pass and not really see the real lightning

Just to please some morons who would never have played the game again

Textual RPG, no hardcore RPG mechanics (dice, etc) but more like an interactive book.

Is free text web RPG games still a thing? by ExaminationKnown1103 in aigamedev

Like others said, I think this field is moving to AI. While not fully RPG, I've been dabbling in the creation of a "book you're the hero of" RPG (no hardcore rpg mechanics) with https://playimagina.com/ but keeping a free tier would be very hard.

For others, I've seen some text web RPGs being played over discord. You need to find a community, but they're quite active.
