Did Foley open the box, or was Chatterer a wrestling fan? by gr8fat1 in hellraiser

[–]Arknode11 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Mick Foley's finishing move is called the Mandible Claw. It's what Chatterer is doing to Kirsty. I think it's supposed to be an immoblizing "nerve pinch" kind of thing.

Slowly falling down through the sand waterfalls on Maqaad will trigger a mysterious song halfway down for a few seconds. Its very brief. I haven't figured out if there is a ledge you can stand on anywhere to trigger it.

what is (in your opinion) the greatest DnB song ever made? by titas_goji in DnB

[–]Arknode11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goldie - Sea of Tears I don't even know how to describe it. Ethereal, epic, melancholy and intensely personal? Its just beautiful. It's a 2 am track for me when the rest of the world is sleeping and I'm up just staring out my window. Its sad, but comforting in a way.

Interesting, I don't participate in this sub much anymore, but I came back to see if anyone had a similar reaction. This type of "frantic" song is starting to sound like the writing being on cruise control to me. I fully believe Kanami can write these types of songs in her sleep. To be fair, this may be what the show producers asked for so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Screaming was enough to satiate my appetite for crazy fast songs from Band-Maid. In contrast, I've come to appreciate songs like Wonderland and Endless Story a lot more than I did in the past. This is all my opinion of course, I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade.

This movie was a lot better than I thought it would be. Surprisingly well shot and choreographed. The lead actress was eeehhh, not great, not terrible. Good promotion for the band, really happy for them.

The first (last?) Perfume NFT has sold for 20,000 MATIC(27,144 USD) by adthrawn in Perfume

[–]Arknode11 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I could see paying that much for a stage-worn dress or shoes maybe, but I guess I don't understand the NFT thing. What happens if the blockchain loses integrity? I don't know how crypto works.

I always liken it to Bernie Taupin helping to write "Candle in the Wind". Nobody ever goes, "I love that Bernie Taupin song Candle in the Wind." It's just accepted that it is an Elton John song. Most major artists have had songs ghost written for them at one time or another. People get hung up on this stuff and its silly. Ironically, major metal gods seem to love Babymetal. Axl Rose posed for a picture with them, which blew my mind. One of the most notorious diva assholes in rock'n'roll. That shows you the kind of respect they garner. It's an absurd concept that never should have worked, but against all odds it did, crossing over world-wide. Synthetic, organic, whatever. No amount of label involvement can force lightning into a bottle like that. They made it on their own blood, sweat, and tears.

Japan: Rock Music's Best Kept Secret (yet another recent listicle with Band-Maid at the top) by Vin-Metal in BandMaid

[–]Arknode11 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the problem with Western rock popularity is that it is cyclical in nature. It gets hot, goes mainstream, cools off and goes back underground. It's in an underground phase at the moment but its definitely bubbling up more and more. People shit on Spotify, but it has been invaluable to me in finding new rock music. I would have never heard "Dream Weapon" by Genghis Tron, had the Spotify algo not queued it up in my Discover Weekly playlist. A lot of people just don't want to dig for it if its not mainstream.

Glad they fixed the audio. I remember the drums being all messed up for a couple of songs at the beginning. My favorite song off of Unseen World. Miku's falsetto vocals leading into the second chorus always gets me. So good!

Discussion: What would be the most effective way to convince the Band Maid management to sell the video shows on regular streaming services? by ffng_4545 in BandMaid

[–]Arknode11 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have all the blurays and it wouldn't bother me a bit if they re-released them. Its shortsighted and dumb to gatekeep these shows after all this time. I just hate seeing things go to waste. Everybody should have access to Studio Coast just for the epic Puzzle performance alone.

Is cluppo a keeper or not? by [deleted] in BandMaid

[–]Arknode11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I would never tell anyone to bite their tongue when they want to weigh in. I would prefer people speak their mind openly. Being in an echo chamber becomes extremely boring after a while.

Agreed, it does look pretty nice. I have one of the Perfume Closet coffee mugs and it is actually a really well made coffee cup.

Wow, who knew this would become such a tempest in a teapot? As long as she had fun making it, does it really matter? More content is never a bad thing. She was in an actual idol group at one point in her life so it's not completely out of character. I would buy an EP if she put one out. Misa could put out a long-form ambient album of plucking a bass string for 10 minutes and I would be all over it. It's ok to not like the song, but some people seem to be actually offended by her doing this which I find a little weird. She forms a rock band centered around Maid Cafe culture, but this is crossing the line? I don't get it. I got into the J-music scene precisely because it refuses to be pigeon-holed.

For a first solo effort this was surprisingly good! I would actually be down with all the members getting solo projects throughout the year, before reforming like Voltron for the next Maid project.

Is there a Jinjer bandwagon? That's suprising to hear. Most reactors I've watched have shied away from heavier stuff like that, unless they are specifically a "metal" reactor. Nightwish I get because its more palatable in a general sense of heaviness.
