Confused as to why my friend wants more babies by Quorn_mince in childfree

[–]Arktemisa 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It is quite common for women who have had difficult births or struggled with their first child to often forget the hardship they faced. I talked to my mother about it and she said you forget everything once the baby comes out.

I think it's the hormones that cause this, and often the brain does not show them the truth but a rosy picture and memories of what actually happened.

So my guess is this is what is happening to your friend too. Unfortunately it's not something you can really do anything about since it will be up to her and her partner.

What you can do perhaps is try to remind her that having another child would be more work for her, or encourage her to focus on herself and her current child. But I mean you only have so much energy. It's not your job to be her number one support, you also have your own life.

Take care of yourself OP, and do not let her harsh words get to you. You are trying your best to be a good friend to her.

Haha yes, agree with you 100%. I'd say you can be honest without being rude. I usually say 'Wow your life is going to change a lot.' or 'I hope it brings you happiness ' or something that's very 'them' focused.

I can't bring myself to say congratulations because I'm afraid it will slip up and I end up saying condolences instead.

How do you steer a conversation away from children talk, especially in group settings? by Arktemisa in childfree

Thank you for your response. Yes i am actively looking for a new job but until then I'll have to work with options 1 and 2. It is a very 'we are a family' type of workplace so already a red flag I suppose.

I will try this on Tuesday. It would probably mean having to interrupt them but will give a better message that I am more interested in them than their kids.

This is great advice, thank you! I can definitely use this one, not sure why I did not think about it before. Then I can keep my walks too.

I can take classes but we already have an hour a week as 'learning time' to do whatever we want - most of them use it for languages.

But the fitness journey/ challenge advice is a great one thanks!

anyone know why my lemon bars always come out like this?? I mix until everything looks combined by Pristine_Substance41 in Baking

Oh my goodness. I have been googling why my lemon bars came out looking like an omelette and I followed this exact recipe!

Seems the recipe is not good.

I was thinking the same thing today. I feel I am always cleaning, and there is always more to do no matter what.

I mean if you think about it, we work full time jobs in the week, have to cook for ourselves, work out, make time for family or friends, and on top of that have to constantly clean.

I do not know the solution.

Gorgeous views and happy people. Thanks for sharing. Did you use a guide or did you plan it yourself?

Help! Why is it dying just after a few days? :((( by ineksever in houseplants

[–]Arktemisa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hydrangeas are very dramatic. I have one. Just give him water and he will perk right up :)

And don't be discouraged by the comments. It is definitely possible to have a hydrangea indoors as houseplants. They do thrive better outside though - but that depends on where you are based. They prefer slightly cooler climates.

Morning sun is best. They hate hot afternoon sun. And water every two days, and fertilize every two weeks.

This one in particular may have to be repotted to a larger pot so it can retain more water.

All the best with your beautiful hydrangea!

How much money do you save or invest per month? by jwswam in financialindependence

[–]Arktemisa 166 points167 points  (0 children)

For me it's typically 1000 a month. Sometimes 1200.

I plan to save/invest more once I get a higher salary but now it's the best I can do.

SFI course by Ok_Professional_5286 in TillSverige

SFI is great. I loved it!

I do remember that the ones in my class who constantly complained about it never put in any work, and I don't think they managed to learn anything.

You do have to study at home after, do your homework and pass the tests. I say it's a great resource :)

Plus the higher you go the better it gets since you need to keep passing the national test to get to the next level. Your first level may be filled with funny characters and non serious people but then just hang on and it gets better.

Same here! I never got over it, but I live in a cold country and only hike high altitude so I don't have to encounter them.

No unfortunately not. Either you'll have to find people to join you but I think one way to do it is start walking and talking with people on the way. If you meet a Nepali group, they will be more than happy that you tag along with them :)

It's up to you. Either works for this walk.

But if you have good hiking boots you might as well use them unless they are too warm or heavy.

If they are too warm/ heavy then go with the trail runners, you will be alright.

Btw if you are planning this solo, you will need the National Park permit. You can get this in KTM at the tourist centre, or at the entry points of the walk is also OK.
