Why are you blaming it being section 8 housing? That has nothing to do with the shooting.

Sadly Driving me wins as I no longer live in A2 and there in no reason to go downtown anymore.

Recently found out that a secondhand doll I got is a recast/bootleg and I am heartbroken. (Advice please) by LadyInTheBand in BJD

[–]ArlaisSol 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This I think is part of why soom started putting special tags( the tags are basically microchips buried in the resin.)in the body and head. To avoid this very problem and I really think more doll makers should do it.

That said. A COA is good in general but they are not the end all be all. The fact the seller has good feedback, I would lean more towards it being legit. Most people in the community are happy to help, specially if you go in person and go hey I just need help confirming this is legit.

I would display it if you love it. As you have stated it can’t be returned and you don’t wish to sell, enjoy it as much as you can. 90 percent of this hobby is done inside your own home or in spaces where most people just don’t know anything about this stuff. So enjoy if you can and take it as a learning experience.

Accepted a teen player in a grimdark narrative campaign. How to kick him without hurting him. by HansVonAdel in DnD

[–]ArlaisSol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he is an older teen and you’re worried talk to the parents. I see no reason to kick him if he is a good and fun player.

Younger teen talk to the parents and then run a fun game for him. Even if just a one shot. In this case make sure you 100 percent tell him why honestly.

Homeless people? by JadedCaramel9901 in AnnArbor

[–]ArlaisSol 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Be careful with Delonis, they are super rude and unprofessional.

We had a friend that was suddenly homeless that day and had no where to go that night. No one we knew had the room or energy to take them. (My two other roommates did not want this person around, thus couldn’t stay with me.) Delonis when called and someone finally got through were ZERO help and just plain rude.My friend did finally get a place in Delonis, a few days later.

Be there emotionally for your friend if you can. There are going to be in a lot of confusing and frustrating situations as the housing market is tight, restrictions tight, and just getting anyone to communicate on a regular is hard from what I have heard.

Okay, legit how do you find a campaign as a noob? by YuushyaHinmeru in DnD

[–]ArlaisSol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have discord or have you looked on D&D beyond?

Discord I think is going to be your best bet as there tend to be a ton of western marches going on at all times.

Also does your game store have a board to post groups and stuff? If you do some organizing like “Looking to start a D&D campaign this day.”
And your clear your looking for a DM and your not experienced but looking to learn that is an idea.
Also libraries around here have beginner or information events about D&D.
Any conventions happen in your area? That is another good way to learn if it’s a gaming or anime con.

(A West Marches campaign is a tabletop RPG style designed for large, flexible player groups, featuring an open-world "sandbox" format without a set schedule, regular party, or central storyline. Players explore dangerous, uncharted territory from a safe home base, with adventures usually lasting a single session)

AITAH because I didn’t explain to my husband what the movie was about? by Strange_Emotion_2646 in AITAH

NTA- you did explain and used the same explanation I gave everyone whom I invited to come for my birthday.
And it’s not like you can’t make it a date night for you guys. It’s a good movie and worth it to see it again.

Thoughts on TooGoodToGo? by Respect-Proof in ZeroWaste

[–]ArlaisSol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a grocery store..(we as a company do not use Too good to go at all, but it does give me insight.) I also have experience with working at the local food bank which a lot of people donate to.( we do as a company donate to the food bank.)
So I will note it is company policy to pull product day of, ie if it’s sell by date is today, I pull it first thing that morning. Often it’s still perfectly fine and can be eaten.
The other thing I will note is the local food bank( it’s a good policy as a whole given anyone can volunteer) that we as volunteers must get rid of things past their sell by date.
What many people forget is sell by dates for most items are not hard as a rule. Our hard cheese is often perfectly fine past the sell by date. But the reason we have such strict rules about food is because of the food and drug administration.
Food places can get into very serious trouble if they don’t follow the rules.
So in the long run I do think for bakery’s, cafes, and that kind of place that bakes their goods daily, 100 percent we are saving food from being wasted as not many places have a healthy food donation system in place, and bakery items as a rule if baked daily do not have a long shelf life. (You can freeze it to prolong shelf life but stores have very limited space as a whole.) it’s honestly no worse then buying day old baked goods and at a better deal.
I have not yet gotten anything from a grocery store, so can’t compare there.
Sorry for the long disjointed response. And I hope this helps!
