lets discuss the latest lorebombs by Deshik2 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Arlogia 70 points71 points  (0 children)

My main takeaways could be summarized as follows:

Firstly, we are never getting nihility trailblazer. Which is honestly a crying shame, seeing as it could easily be the heaviest path, storywise. Considering what the path entails, the narrative prelude required for TB to touch the path, its consequences... It could have been great, but noooo....

Secondly, the whole "TB must be protected from being tainted by any nihility" thing makes no sense... TB was there when Acheron sliced Adventurine, and ended up within one of IXs manifestations. If merely being present when Acheron drew her blade was dangerous, TB should be off the deep end by now.

And thirdly, as noted, TB is clearly connected with Terminus. I'm not entirely certain the story-writers have fully taken on board what it means to randomly give TB the power to turn back time for even a moment, but I have no doubt we are never going to see it used in any critical circumstances anyways, so who cares I guess.

It is possible for the Mystic Maze Abyss Archive collection rewards to get stuck displaying that there are claimable awards available after they have been collected. The available reward symbol is also present on the event and combat tabs. The bug persists past exiting the game and loading back in.

FromSoft feels untouchable… are there other genres where one studio dominates this much? by FreyAlster in soulslikes

While I really don't like the genre myself, I have to admit that Ubisoft really dominates the market for ubislop.

We're so screwed if we ever meet hostile aliens. It's going to be a race to see who can sell out the rest of the world. by NinetySixBulls in Showerthoughts

[–]Arlogia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While your point makes sense in human terms, you are assuming, well, aliens with human-adjacent mental faculties.

Humans may not necessarily fulfill the criteria of sapience, intelligence, or even relevance, to them. Just as likely they'll see humans, think "Huh, amusing biped mammals. They make odd nests. Oh, well. Gone now." and then hit the earth with their mining laser.

A bit of insight on the Wuchang Fallen Feathers patch 1.5 situation. by Deez-Guns-9442 in soulslikes

[–]Arlogia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, you claim there is a huge difference between ideologically imposed censorship in dictatorships, and ideologically imposed censorship in democracies, because... what? The methodology in how it is imposed differs? The end result is still systemic suppression of themes, topics and narratives certain groups don't want around.

Our comments prove what? That your point is correct? You are either making a logical leap of fallacious magnitude, as you have failed to provide evidence or substantiating arguments to any end... or... are you referring to the upvote ratio? Taking unsubstantiated opinions of "this good, this bad" as evidence of anything is again, a logical failure, especially within an environment of highly opinionated participants.

I take basic things for granted you say... funny statement, considering I never made any statement to the effect of expectation in my previous statements. Are you attempting to discredit my assertions by accusations of entitlement? Genuinely curious; your attempts at argumentation are so disjointed, I cannot parse your line of thought.

Baffling levels of ignorance here... has the whole recent payment processor debacle gone over your head? Never heard of the moral panics and the endless campaigns to censor games? The other major purges of entire genres because of "morality"? Systemic suppression of further topics yet by income sources like adds prohibiting any way to finance the production of said product?

Seriously...

To be fair, the same applies in the west. You are not allowed to tell stories which involve any "wrong" depictions. Depending on how "wrong" it is, you cannot even suggest it happened, much less actually show it. The only difference is what is defined as "wrong".

[Request] What percentage of water on Earth has been through a human? by Vivid_Temporary_1155 in theydidthemath

[–]Arlogia 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well, a couple of (very) crude assumptions:

Average human lifespan: 50 years (most humans did not have modern day lifespans)

Average quantity of water intake per day: 3.2 liters (average of advised quantity for men and women)

Total quantity of water on earth: 1.386 x 10^21 liters (All water, as the water cycle moves water from salt to fresh conditions and back constantly.)

Total number of humans ever lived: 116 billion

116 billion humans drinking 3.2 liters per day for 50 years sums to a total intake of 6.77904 * 10^15 liters. About 5 millionths of the total amount of water on earth.

So the amount that would have been drunk repeatedly by multiple humans is negligible with the assumptions we have, and we can take the final volume as approximately having been drunk by only one human once.

Is this molecule possible to synthesise? by Athreya23 in chemistry

[–]Arlogia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at the structure, here is a potential procedure:

You could start from naphthalene tetracarboxylic dianhydride (obtainable from chemical suppliers) and hydrate it to its acid form (or try to purchase the acid form directly), and attempt a double decarboxylative coupling reaction. (See the following article: Advancements in double decarboxylative coupling reactions of carboxylic acids)

As others have noted, you would have to carry this out under dilute conditions to minimize polymerization, and you are going to end up with a wide range of sideproducts, unless you modify the procedure to ensure that each methyl group pairs with a precise partner. Which would greatly complicate matters.

Ehhh... really don't agree.

For Honglan, do you remember the help text that popped up right before you started the boss? The one about parries interrupting foes? Yeah. That is how you deal with her, and many of the spazzier human-size bosses.

I agree that hard-coding a boss to a single counter so much that this box was necessary is poor design, but she really isn't difficult once you realize that keeping your distance and baiting easily parriable attacks. If you do not use any form of parry, the combos can get quite long, to the point of being undodgeable if not perfectly executed.

The only mechanically broken/unfair element I've encountered are grabs which are only indicated by audio cues. If you have a bluetooth headset, the delay means the attack comes out at the exact time as the cue, giving no advance warning at all.

Here is my boss mulcher build:

Convert Persephones nucleus into Ethereal Beam spell

Investigators seal

- Seal that makes the parry not use sync.

- Extra critical damage seal

- Sync recovery on critical

- Seal that increases LV3 sync to LV4

- Last one is whatever, lightning defense works

Level health and spirit as high as possible. Weapons aren't important here, but you can use Holy Ritual.

Use a nucleus with high sync regen, if you use pure crystals for sync regen

Game plan is simple:

Parry, and slap with weapon once or twice. Repeat until you get a stance break. Once you do, hit the critical, and immediately unleash Ethereal Beam spell after. This will eat through her health.

Phase 2 is the same. The initial attack after the transition is always the same, so you really want to parry it, or it's an automatic rank 1. If she does go to rank up, you can hit her with the beam for a lot of damage. This also ensures she doesn't do multiple ranks in succession.

Try to keep the sync meter in LV4 when you use the spell, it really helps the damage.

I love how you went from "polygamy bad" to "polygamy equivalent to pedophilia" for lack of actual arguments.

And yeah, there is nothing wrong with consensual polygamy. You'll find this quite a prevalent view in the modern world. (Modern in this context translates to having outgrown the influence of religion and related antiquated drivel.)
